The mystery was not the best in the series

The mystery in this book was not the best mystery in this series but it was okay. The wedding, the meeting of the families, and the honeymoon were very nicely handled, which in my opinion mo tore than made up for a mystery that was mostly solved by luck after most of the clues pointed in other directions. *** Mild Spoiler Alert *** But the mystery was solved in time that two or three of the intended victims survived without serious injuries and Millie was again the hero! *** End of Spoiler Alert *** This is not a good book to read first in this series, since most of the fun of this particular book is reading about Millie and Nic getting married and having a wonderful honeymoon, only slightly interrupted by a murder mystery mostly involving minor characters. The murder mystery was underplayed, to an extent that is a little disturbing, until a more central character became an apparent target. Before that, it seemed like the main concerns were that the deaths of three people would be bad for business, which did seem to be true but not what should be the focus of reasonable people. So I was disappointed with part of the book but other parts were very well done, especially some of the family reactions to the marriage.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 NIV

“It was a shame that such a magnificent slice of paradise had turned deadly.”

“Always suspect the least suspect.”

I really enjoyed the different aspects of the book and how the majority of the book takes place on a resort for Millie’s honeymoon. I liked seeing the relationship between Millie and Nic. I loved how quick the read was and Hope’s writing. So why the three stars? Because the mystery aspect was poorly executed. Without giving away anything, I will say it’s one of those books with a random killer. That always frustrates me.

Family, Friends and Foes is the eleventh installment in Hope Callaghan’s Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mysteries Series and is a wonderful, clean cozy mystery. Each time I read one of Ms. Callaghan’s books, I think it’s the best one and they can’t get any better, and then she writes the next one and amazes me once again. The story line is well plotted and the characters are affable. There’s an interesting mystery to solve, lots of activity, humor, and compassion. The book flows at a steady pace and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted cozy mystery.

Millie is excited because she will soon be marrying Captain Niccolo ‘Nic’ Armati. Millie and Nic’s children will be on the cruise ship, but she’s nervous because she’ll be meeting her son, Blake’s new girlfriend, Erin, and Nic’s daughter, Fiona, for the first time. Nic’s good friend, Regan Leclerc and his wife, Nadia, invited the newlyweds and their families to their resort, the Grand Bay Beach Club, in Saint-Martin. Even though the wedding party learns there have recently been unexplained deaths at the resort, everyone agrees to stick to their original plan and stay at the resort. The Leclercs are being questioned and fear they will be linked to the deaths or, at the very least, their business will suffer. Millie says she isn’t going to get involved in the investigation, but once she meets Regan and Nadia and realizes Nadia is a lot like her, that soon changes.

Not the worst but definitely not the best

I like that this was in a new location, but I found the storyline regarding the step daughter to be unnecessary, she’s a grown adult she doesn’t have to like her father‘s new wife, and it’s somewhat understandable that she’s upset by the whole thing because he brought his new wife to the place that he brought his old wife, it’s just a little bit weird and if I’m entirely honest I think it’s bizarre that the main character never reached out to her husband‘s daughter, and places most of the blame on her stepdaughter for not forming any relationship, or wanting to be at their wedding etc., I think it’s very judge mental and honestly insensitive, but other than that the mystery is OK, I don’t really think the motivation makes sense, but hopefully the next book will be good

I really do love this series and I have to say that, for some reason, I think this was my favorite of the books. I don't know if it was the change of scenery, or seeing a different side of Nic, but it really was such a good book. I was a bit surprised that something that happened in the beginning was never addressed again later, and that the ending was so abrupt. But, the middle...the middle was GREAT! haha. I HIGHLY recommend this series, and especially this book. Now, I eagerly await the next one!

It was interesting that one section is written from the killer's POV instead of Millie's for once. I thought that might keep going, but it didn't. The killer's POV did make the book a little darker.

The only nit-picky thing I have to say is that the bridesmaids picked out gray dresses in the last book and now they are wearing blue bridesmaids dresses at the wedding.

I have to leave a comment.
This was not set on the cruise ship. Maybe that is what was wrong with it. It deserves one star, but some bits were good enough. Watch out though, because it's disappointing compared to the first ten.

A good old fashion cozy murder mystery

Millie and Nic are married off the ship and enjoying their honeymoon. The resort owners are Nic's friends who are having problems with having numerous deaths. Will Millie solve who the murderer is or will she get too wrapped up in her honeymoon? And someone's kid is being a stinker because their parent got married.

Millie and Captain Nic have a wonderful celebratory wedding with all her shipmate friends, her family and Nic's only family member, the angry, belligerent Fiona, Nic's daughter all in attendance., although Fiona was on the ship, she never came to the festivities. And Nic's childhood friend, Reagan, offered them a wonderful honeymoon at his resort on the Island of St. Martin. When Nic receives a note from Reagan that a murder happened at the resort, but they should still come. When Millie meets Reagan and Reagan's wife, they get along famously. Reagan's wife begs Millie to help her solve the murder because Reagan seems to be a suspect. Of course there isn't a murder/mystery that Millie doesn't like to solve and since this is for friends, she agrees to look into it. When bad things happen while they are there, Millie is even more certain the murderer needs to be found! I loved these new characters and I really loved how Nic didn't get exasperated with Millie since he knows part of her personality is to be involved in helping people even if it means finding a murderer. I love this series and the wonderful characters the author gives us; both on the ship and now off! I can't wait to see what Millie gets into next.

Millie has her family coming aboard along with Fiona, Nic's daughter. What she wasn't planning on what a note from her ex husband. He is out waiting on her to come talk to him.

After taking care of Roger and telling him no for the last time she is one happy lady getting back on the ship. Until Nic tells her about their upcoming dream honeymoon on the island of Saint-Martin is in jeopardy because of recent, mysterious deaths at the all-inclusive resort, owned by his close friend, Regan Leclerc.

They make it to the resort and Nadia, Regan's wife and Millie hit it off right from the first meeting. Millie jumps in to help with the murders.

Nic and Millie help the couple with the investigation. Millie learns a lot and the funny part was the spa. They each have a great time and spy. The characters were great on this one and it was nice to meet some new people.

Millie is sleuthing on her honeymoon

Millie's fans will love this book! Nic and she have finally gotten married and are headed for a honeymoon at a resort on St. Maarten/St.Martin owned by one on Nic's boyhood friends.
Just before the wedding, Nic gets a message from his friend Regan that two deaths have occurred at the resort. Plans have not changed and the newlyweds arrive at St. Martin. Millie has agreed not to become involved in the investigation, but we all know that she will be up to her eyeballs in a blink of an eye.
This is another wonderful whodunit by the talented Hope Callaghan. It is not to be missed!

The Turner family reunion should be fun

When Ship's Assistant Cruise Director first meets members of the Turner family, two of the men are on the deck fighting with each other. This is the beginning of a number of problems with the family. Throughout the cruise, Millie is doing her best to separate members of the family. She finally finds out that the man accused of harassing a supposedly engaged woman is, instead, being chased and flirted upon by her. The story includes the death of a crew member, the investigation of the murder, and, finally, Millie solves the crime. This story is exciting and fast-moving throughout, and I heartily recommend it.

Millie and Nic Armati get married on the Siren of the Sea cruise ship where they work with all of Millie's family and Nic's daughter Fiona. They are given a free honeymoon on one of the islands at a resort owned by Nic's friend Reagan and his wife Nadia. Millie and Nadia become good friends finding out they both love mysteries. Murder and strange things happen at the resort and they start investigating. A lot of exciting things happen with no bad language which makes this an enjoyable book to read!

Family Friends and Foes

Millie and Nic are finally married and on their honeymoon. They are staying at a friend's resort, where some bad things are happening, of course Millie gets involved to help solve the mystery. She and her new friend Nadia, who is one of the resort owners, team up to follow the clues and solve the mystery. In this heart warming story, Hope Callaghan has captured your attention and you won't put it down until the end.

Millie goes on the honeymoon of all times.

Millie and her new husband, Captain Armanti have the most beautiful honeymoon of all times. While at the resort she gets involved solving murder and unforseen accidents that are plaiging the resort. With the help of Nadia, they have many suspects to field through to find the guilty party. Magnificent description of the surroundings. This is the is the best book to date.

Family, Friends and Foes

I love Hope Callahan's books... especially the Cruise Ship Cozy series. This one didn't disappoint me. It has struggles, emotions, love, mystery and several dead bodies. What more could you ask for? Millie marries the captain of the cruise ship that she works on. They spend their honeymoon on an island and the mystery starts to build. Who is killing people and why? Who will be next? I recommend you read this delightful story and find out for yourself.

I have basically read this entire series (17 books so far, I think)...they are fun and fluffy and clean. I love the Christian aspect, I love the CRUISING aspect, and the characters are pretty likable...
(though admittedly, I sometimes roll my eyes at Millie getting involved once more in something or someplace she has no business being---but since that is the premise of the entire series...there you have it!) Enjoyable "summer" read, all year round.

Millie and the Captain get married and spend a week at a private 5 star resort on St Martin, owned by Regan, an old friend of Nic, and his wife, Nadia.

The wedding is beautiful. but the Captain's daughter has her nose out of joint and is rude to everyone.
The family fly home after one night at the resort and leave Millie and Nic to enjoy their honeymoon.
Millie and Nadia become instant friends and bond while investigating 3 murders that have taken place at the resort.

Not a typical Millie mystery

I did not enjoy this book as much as the previous stories. Part of it may have been the lack of Millies usual gang of friends to fill out the story. The whole issue with the captains daughter being mad did not seem to add any value and is not a normal thing to find in one of her stories. As always the guilty person is not who you think which is good. I look forward to the next book when they are back on the ship and the gang is together

I loved this book starting with the wedding and continuing on with the honeymoon complete with murders and accidents. Millie is on her game trying to connect the incidents and figure out who the killer is. I was kept guessing until the end when the culprit was uncovered.

I can't wait to read more books in this series!

Glad to see Millie and Nic finally got married, but sorry to see that Nic's daughter is still angry with her dad and won't accept Millie as her father's wife.
Also glad that found a new friend in Nadia who likes solving mysteries like Millie.

Not one of my favorites. It has some unusual activities and a Travel Club that is the focus of this story.

There are several delicious sounding foods in the many eating places on the ship. What I like is that one of the crew, a chef, is always fine tuning her recipes and that one of her recipes is included at the end of the book, yum, yum..

Another Millie adventure

This is another great read, proving that age doesn't restrict anyone from doing what they want. The new friendships that Millie and her husband have made will last a lifetime. I can't wait to read more about them in one of Millie's future adventures! I couldn't put this down until I finished it!!

What mystery ends with, it was probably so and so because all we can figure is this reason? Never talked to the person or got their point of view. No wrap up at all. And... what about the rude daughter? No further info? Did she just call off of the planet? What a crock this series has become. Too many loose ends.

Finally hitched

Millie & Nic tie the knot and help solve a murder case on their honeymoon. The book continues the series but is a little more subdued than the rest, for me anyway. I missed all the regular ship crew characters.
