It’s returned to the quality of earlier years simply by repeating content from those years. This year’s annual is a full size, good quality hardback with 8 or so stories, all but one of which are taken from previous annuals. There is one - fairly short - new story. I don’t mind this - better than the substandard quality of recent years where they tried to produce new content, but clearly there wasn’t the budget to fill the annual. This one ends with a story from 1939, in black and white with red colouring, which is rather charming.
