***2.75 Stars***

Based on the blurb, this book had a lot of promise, but unfortunately, I just didn't connect to the characters much.

Travis moved on from his scandal (and his almost fiance) too quickly. Considering that he was ready to propose to Jeremy, there wasn't much heartbreak or time spent dwelling on a relationship that ended on such a cold and greedy betrayal. I feel like the author didn't fully commit to this plot point, especially considering Travis's career hung in the balance becaus

This is a formula that will appeal to a lot of readers. I just don’t think I’m one of them anymore.

We have the whole famous athlete looking for a quiet place to regroup, the somewhat boring start of a relationship, the dull sex scenes, and the angst and break-up at 75%. It’s just not for me anymore.

Travis needs a quiet place after his boyfriend leaked a sex tape of them. And that’s how Travis finds himself working at a farm to help out his brother’s friend, Shane. The two start off on t

Loved this intro to a new series from Alison Hendricks

Low angst, moderate steam, ranch setting, hot NFL player, ex jockey, what more could you ask for?!

For me, not much as I just like Alison Hendricks' style of writing. This one centres around Travis, mired in a scandal and with a broken heart after the guy he was going to propose to leaks a sex tape.

I loved Travis, he was strong in character but with a vulnerability which came from never knowing anything but football. His relationship with his

but mostly... I'm just ranting.

The pacing of the story and progression of Travis and Shane's relationship was awkward for the most part. If the scandal had been that Travis had a fuck buddy that leaked a sex tape and released an article attacking his public image instead of it being his boyfriend, the story would have felt like a natural chain of events leading Travis to Shane.

Instead, the whole story felt off st

Despite started with a sex scandal that forces Travis to lay low, and Shane has a kind of traumatic trigger due to an accident that happens during his racing days, but in overall Final Stretch is a nice, low-on-angst, quick-pace story.

While Travis and Shane relationship is pretty much insta-love but somehow it doesn't bother me much. And I like that the small town seems to be quite welcoming towards LGBT people.

I LOVE all the scenes related to the horses, especially the ones related

The final stretch is the first book in Alison Hendricks new series Glen Springs. I've read most of her books, and I'm a fan of her work. I mean hot gay sports stories... of course, I'm hooked!

Travis Morrison is an NFL running back. He has worked hard all his life to create a squeaky clean good boy image. Unfortunately, his latest man has decided to leak a sex tape and Travis's world is about to be shaken up. He needs to get away for a while. His brother lives in Kentucky, and he wants to use th

I loved Final Stretch by Alison Hendricks. It's the first book in the Glen Springs series. I loved Travis and Shane. They are great together and have excellent chemistry and hot scenes. I liked how Travis immediately thought of hiding out with his brother when a sex tape gets leaked to the media, and he has to lay low for a couple of weeks. I like how they take the time to get to know each other finally. Moreover, I loved Shane and his small rehab ranch and his dream of one-day rehabbing injured ...more

This book has a quite different setting from the other books by Alison Hendricks but still connection to the well-known football topic. This time it's mixed with a former jockey who's career is over when he hurts himself and his racing horse in the progress.

The story is well written and solid, the story builds from insta-lust to a relationship between the character and finally settles in a love relationship. I liked

There’s a very simple reason I’ve read every single book from Alison Hendricks and it’s this: Her Books ALWAYS leave me feeling all warm and tingly(the good kind) inside. I don’t know about you but for me that is a pretty good reason to stick to an author.

This book was the same. It made me feel all the feels and left me warm inside.

Our MCs were far from perfect but they apologized when wrong and made sure they made up for any failings or hurts they caused. I love this in people in real life so O

A former jockey who now rehabs unwanted horses and an American Football player?! Even in my dreams I couldn't have hoped for a pairing like that!

I'm super passionate about horses and I even worked with race horses for a while (harness racing though); and I also love American Football (both my brothers play)!
So of course I had really high hopes!

However, the reviews were not that great, so I was expecting it to be really bad. But it wasn't! It was great, actually! Both MCs were really likeable and

I finally get to mark this book off my TBR list. I agree with another reviewer that mention of the length of progression from Travis's former boyfriend to Shane. Travis was considering marrying this man who betrayed him and then moved on to new man very quickly in my opinion. It just felt like everything happened in a few weeks instead of months . I think it would have work better if the other guy was a casual hook up than a person you were thinking about marrying soon. I think the way he gave u

just a teeny bit lacking - 2.5* rounded up because it wasn't unpleasant.

this is a nice pleasant low angst book. The two main characters are both likable. The story was fine but there was nothing I found magical. Still I might consider reading something else by this author if I am looking for very light easy reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and new author. The sex was a bit too harlequin for me so I skimmed it. The angst was just right for the characters who were well developed and interesting. The story line did not get trampled under the horse's hoofs or get lost amid the scandal. More people should be reading this this fine story.

I didn’t like how fast Travis (H1) moved on from his almost-fiance although the ex was a douchebag who posted one of their sexy times without permission and wrote an story. Shane was also a dick near the end when he blamed Travis for stuff. I’m glad for their happy ending though.

"He wants me to stay here. Which means he wants something long term. Something more than a fling. My heart squeezes in my chest, even in the middle of this very uncomfortable conversation."

I liked this story. It was a nice read. Travis needs to lay low to escape a betrayal by his (ex) boyfriend so he escapes to a small town to stay with his brother who he also needs to mend his relationship with or lack of. Shane is also laying low in his own way, making a new life from himself away from the e

That was pretty disappointing. Alison Hendricks tends to have good ideas - intriguing settings and character constellations - but sadly her stories suffer from feeling too rushed, from too much telling and from staying too superficial.

Here, we meet Travis, a successful NFL player whose career is suddenly brought to a stop by a sex tape his fame-hungry boyfriend published. He moves to his estranged brother, who is a teacher in Glen Sprinhs, a small town in Kentucky. That's where he meets Shane,

Travis is a high profile all-American football player whose career is in jeapordy after a sex tape scandal goes viral. Trying to stay off the radar, he hides out at his brother's place till things simmer out, but there won't be much simmering when Travis meets Shane.

I liked this story. The characters were great and the plot even better. What I didn't like about the story was that it follows as a branch of from the Eastshore series. I don't mind it, but all the drama with Jake and Travis, I don't

MILD SPOILERS

I enjoy Alison Hendricks’s football books. Who doesn’t like a story about two hot ballers going at it? And while I enjoyed Final Stretch and both of the characters, I had a few problems with this story.
1. Travis’s career is ending because of a sex tape? Really? Let’s take a look at some of the shit that the NFL has hosted over the years: domestic violence, dog torturing/fighting, accessory to murder, drug possession, drug dealing, bar fights, player punching a random woman in the fa

I sometimes entertain myself by wondering if Alison Hendricks is not a person, but a committee. Or maybe a writer - male or female - who has no interest in MM romance but sees it as a commercial opportunity. Hendricks' writing has that kind of formulaicness (I doubt that's a word). The formula usually works so it doesn't bother me. Here, the formula was tired, the characters and story only roughly sketched. Spoilers below.

I didn't think Travis's supposed relationship with Jeremy was well-handled

This is a story I really liked but, I have to be honest, not loved. I had some trouble getting into the story. I felt a certain detachment from the words. They didn’t grab me as much as I would have liked. It might have to do with the fact it is written in the present tense which is not my preferred format.
Another thing is that I felt the beginning a bit rushed. Reading on this feeling totally disappeared and I was hooked till the last page (although still some trouble with the present tense).

I absolutely LOVED Alison's first series, Eastshore Tigers and am happy that Glen Springs is just as fun and worth reading. Final Stretch is Travis and Shane's story and it is so sweet it kept me reading until I had finished.

Travis is a former Eastshore footballer and runs to Glen Springs after his 'Travis Morrison brand' takes a hit, and his confidence a knock with the leak of a sex tape and story by the man he hoped would be his HEA. Shane is a former jockey whose career changed one fateful d

An ARC was provided by the author in return for an honest review.

I've had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for Ms. Hendricks for several books. While I was impressed at the beginning, I've reached a point where mostly I'm impressed that her style has remained so consistent over the course of these stories. Take that as you will. For me, I'm expecting better with each story, the present tense to not be so in my face, the storyline line to not be so predictable, the trope to not be generic and

Travis and Shane! What a great start to a new series!! First, it's an Eastshore spin off so there is that-which I love, mixed in with the ranch/secluded little town scene that I also love.

Travis is a professional football player who needs an escape after a scandal by the boyfriend he thought he was going to marry, leave's his career in jeopardy. Shane, is his brother's friend and confidant/former jockey who has been out of the limelight for some time due to the pressure that was placed on him,

I completely fell in love with the setting of this book. I loved Shane's Ranch so so much out is the perfect setting for this book and these twos story. Both of these characters have gone through very public situations that have lead them to the ranch. Shane calls it home but Travis calls it a get away and a chance to help out his brothers best friend, maybe in the process he can make a better impression because they didn't get off on the best foot. This story is about finding that thing in life ...more

Travis is the openly gay guy in football, then a sex tape sends his world in a tailspin.
Shane became a farmer recluse in a sleepy little town.
Their worlds collided when Travis is forced to keep a low profile and goes to his brother, where Shane happens to be the best friend.
Their first meeting was iffy to say the least. however they over came the misunderstand and developed a companionable relationship.

Not bad!

The first couple of chapters were a little shaky to me. And I was this close to giving up on it because while it wasn’t badly written and the characters weren’t unlikable, I thought for a minute there, the author would make Travis this too-perfect character that it borders on slightly too cocky for my taste. Glad I stuck to it because Travis turned out to be a pretty great guy!

I was also a little worried we’d have ridiculous feuds between Travis and Shane because the blurb made it sound

I’m not sure why, but Trav and Shane just didn’t click for me like most of Alison’s heroes do. The writing of the book was excellent, as always, and I felt that the story was satisfying, but there was something missing that made this book just ok.

I did like that though Travis chose to give up his career as a professional athlete, he didn’t leave football all together. I also liked that he continued to encourage and support Shane as he chose to return to being a jockey.
