A cute, charming twist on Beauty and the Beast
4 stars

I have never read anything in the "Magic, New Mexico" series before, but I really like the series idea: a wide assortment of paranormal people living somewhat openly in a small town in New Mexico. I read this novella because I am a fan of Jessica Aspen. Readers who are fans of Jessica Aspen's "Twisted Fairy Tales" series, including "Cinder" and "Snow" will like this upbeat and charming twist on Beauty and the Beast.

The overall framework of the story tells of the novice fairy godmother Esme who gets a difficult first assignment: fixing the previous fairy godmother's messed up attempt to get Tanner and Bonita to fall in love. Then the story changes to Tanner and Bonita's points of view (in third person perspective). Bonita is a young witch who has played it safe so far in life. Tanner was a human who has been cursed into the body of a troll because of his arrogance and cold heart. True love can break the curse. Now he is grumpy and cannot believe that any woman could fall in love with him with his green skin, fangs, and overly tall body. Bonita's father lost lots of money in Tanner's casino, and he agreed to work off his debt in Tanner's silver mine. Bonita volunteers to work off her father's debt as Tanner's househeeper. It is hilarious that Bonita always thought that trolls were super hot. Tanner the troll is like a more attractive version of Shrek. [Ha ha!] A villain and misunderstandings work to keep the two of them from realizing their true love.

There is some awkward dialogue sometimes, and there were several typos in my ARC copy, but some of that might be fixed in the final copy. I recommend this novella to anyone who wants a cute and upbeat version of Beauty and the Beast. There are some brief sensual love scenes, so there is more than kissing in here.

I received a free advanced reading copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

What do you get when you combine a young witch , a brand new godmother on her first job and a gorgeous man that was turned into a troll . You get a Touch of Beauty a new twist on beauty and the beast.
Welcome to Magic New Mexico where supernaturals and non supernaturals mingle together . Esme is heading there to start her new job as a fairy godmother. When she gets there she finds out the last fairy godmother screwed up really bad . She has to fix the mistakes before she really gets the job. Her first job is to get Tanner and Bonita to fall in love . Tanner was turned into a Troll and Bonita is a witch working off her father's debt . Sparks fly and well you get the rest . But will they survive to keep their love alive .
I love the characters in the book they are well written and developed . Tanner is such a complex man . He is hurting and doesn't want to love anyone but when Bonita walks into his life he is flipped around and he starts to feel things he thought he lost . Bonita is the youngest daughter and is tired of just house cleaning and cooking for her stepsisters. She is sweet and kind and wants to help her father . She sees beyond the angry man to the man he is on the inside .
I read this book because I love the author and I fell in love with the characters and the story line . This is a great twist on the beauty and the beast . If you like light good hearted stories full of love and throw in some intrigue . This is the book for you .

Tanner and Bonita is a story that is about love and the chance to change the way we are. becoming a better person and being able to let our self love. this story starts out with a fairy god mother that is treated badly and puts a curse on Tanner. He has to find someone to love him or he will stay a troll. bad mood stand no chance against Bonita. Bonita is a witch that is trying to take her father place at working off his debt and to do that she has to move in with Tanner. this story is a good twist of the old fairy tale. I read this in one sitting and i enjoyed the characters.“I received a free copy from the author, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.”

Another twist on Beauty and the Beast! Bonita was a great character who was likable and a witch. Our beast, or troll as it happen is Tanner and he made a great character to read about too as he was cursed by a fairy godmother lol. Lots of fun with this read set in Magic which is always a great place to read about. Esme however is the fairy godmother who is orchestrating these matches and works in the background. I loved that touch by the author and was left with a tease on the next couple she had to unite. Loved it!! I am giving my voluntary honest review on an ARC I received from the author.

Love Magic, New Mexico. Magic seems to everywhere there. There is plenty of good but there always seems to be bad as well. Just remember not to piss off your fairy godmother like Tanner did. Now he is big, green and cursed. By a sweet witch might be what he needs. Love the twist of beauty and the beast. Can't wait to read more from Magic.

Wonderful read for all paranormal romance readers.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

I really enjoy the retold fairytales and this one truly set a new high! It's quirky humor missed with serious life challenges gives your emotions the complete range of highs and lows. A fairy godmother working in the background is a wonderfully unique touch! First of many I hope that will be coming! This voluntary review is based against an advance copy.

A very interesting take on a fairytale. I enjoyed the curse being put upon the hero of our story needing the heroine to save him. I also liked the theme of changing into something better as time goes on. Learning from our mistakes. A story that if you enjoy twists on fairytales you will surely love as well!

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

It was a pleasure to read this amazing, entertaining & well-written twisted fairy-tale, I was totally captivated until the last page.
What this book is about: everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong for Tanner Scott since the day he managed to anger a bedraggled, smelly fairy who promptly turned into a beautiful fairy and turned him into a big green troll. To top it all, a feisty young woman (Bonita, who just happens to be a witch) browbeats him into making a deal, that allows her to work for him instead of her father.
What you will find in this book is: a troll, witches, fairy godmothers, fae, twists & turns, humor, magic suspense, desperation, excuses, challenges, fear, verbal confrontation/conflict, deceit, family issues, attractions, abduction, threats, payback, love, romance and some steam.
I found the story-line and plot, interesting, entertaining and well-written. The characters are well-developed with individual personalities, resulting in occasionally verbal confrontation and/or verbal conflict. I would recommend this book to people who like to read interesting twisted fairy-tales.

“Everyone deserves a happy-ever-after.”
Thoroughly enjoyed entering the world of Magic, New Mexico. This delightful group of characters told the reimagined story of Beauty and the Beast in a wonderfully subtle way that keeps you engaged from the start and doesn’t let you go until the end. Bonita and Tanner are too sweet with just enough passion to move this out of the realm of children’s tales. Plan on visiting this magical town more often to enjoy all the stories about the characters who call it home.

A Touch of Magic 💘

What a wonder little fairytale story, complete with really great characters and an awesome world. Take a chance and who knows, maybe Esme will become your fairy godmother! Either way, I think you will enjoy this sweet tale.

Even Fairies Have Bad Days

I read all of the Magic, New Mexico books and I love them all. I'm not a big reader so to find books that I like, and give them a 5 star rating, they are worth the read. I also hate book reports, which is what turned me off of reading when I was younger.
