"Anything For Her" is the first book I have read by the author G.J. Minett.
It's a fairly entertaining thriller with an excellent premise which certainly attracted me to it straight away. I did find the first half of the book a little difficult to get into and I didn't really take to the characters apart from Mia who I thought was the only true person in the story. It definitely had a slow burn build and feel to it until the plot started to take more shape but I was pleased that the second half

EXCERPT: Vicky Finn, meanwhile, was less than impressed.

'I think I just got snubbed, ' she said to her sister.

'You sure you've got the right person?'

'Oh yes,' said Vicky, removing her glasses and slipping them into their case. 'I spent an entire afternoon and the best part of the evening running around after her. I'm not likely to forget Mrs Vedra in a hurry.' She dropped the case into her bag.

'I'll tell you something else too - the man who was with her?' She smiled. 'That's not Mr Vedra.'

I really do think that I have a love-hate relationship with thrillers. I was really looking forward to reading this one due to the high reviews that I kept seeing for this one. But, wow this one did not captivate me even a little bit.

The blurb really got me... and I was so excited to read something unique/different. The story dragged from the beginning and it took so much of an effort to complete this read.

The biggest issues that I had with this novel was Minett's writing style. It was very un

This was a fantastic book, read it in a few hours as I just had to know.

Billy returns home to see his sister only to discover that she is dying. He bumps into his ex girlfriend who he has not seen for 11 years but when she asks for his help to get away from her abusive husband he barely has to think twice. After she is is gone Billy starts to wonder what he has gotten himself into and if there was more to the story than he was lead to believe.

What can I say? This friking book!! It was so good! It pulled me in immediately from the start.
ANYTHING FOR HER is so full of twists and turns that you will be unable to put it down even for a second. If you liked GONE GIRL, then I can assure you you'll love this one!

I came across this author just over 12 months ago when I received his debut novel 'The Hidden Legacy' and what a pleasure that was to read. I have since read and enjoyed his 2nd novel 'Lie in Wait' and fully intend to read every other novel he writes in the future. The Hidden Legacy was an outstanding debut novel, an easy 5 star rating but such a standard to live up to. I have enjoyed both the other books which have both been a very good standard but not quite up there. Do yourself a favour give ...more

For me personally, every book that G.J Minett releases is better than the previous one so his third offering is definitely his best book so far! I made the unfortunate mistake of starting it late one night and couldn’t put it down, eventually falling asleep and having that “kindle hitting me on the nose thing”! Next morning I was desperate to continue reading so had to hide myself away until I had finished….And Wow! What an ending! This is one seriously twisty book!

This is a gripping read and one which will have you desperate to know the outcome.
Billy is asked to stay with his sister while her husband goes away on business and while he’s there she breaks the news that she’s dying, and could only have months to live.
Billy and Mia have a very close relationship as she brought him up after their parents suddenly died when he was thirteen.
They spend some time together and whilst out one day they bump into Billy’s childhood sweetheart, Aimi. Billy has never

When I received and email about this book a view months back I found myself fascinated with the book description. Together with a great looking book cover, I couldn’t wait to start reading.

In ‘Anything For Her’ we meet Billy. Billy is back in his hometown to visit his dying sister. Next to spending time with his sister, he meets up with his ex-girlfriend Aimi. Aimi soon tells him a disturbing story about her abusive husband. Billy never stopped thinking about Aimi and would do almost anything to

I’ve heard lots of great things about this authors books so couldn’t put off reading one any longer.

This is one of those stories that really intrigued me and kept me turning the pages.

I really liked Mia, Billy’s sister. She has been part mother and sister to him for a lot of years and constantly worries about him. Even though Billy loves and respects his sister, he is determined to take control of his life and live it his way. I think bumping into Aimi makes him even more determined. Instead of

The worm turns

Billy Orr returns to his home town to “babysit” his older sister, who has just been diagnosed with a serious illness, while her husband Matthew takes off to the States on business. A chance encounter with Aimi, an old flame from his schooldays triggers a chain of events which will not end well – but who will be the one to suffer most?

This novel is categorised as a psychological thriller and is a slow burner. The opening chapters are quite normal and everyday but build to a crescend

A long uphill road that leads to almost nothing….

This is the best I can describe about this book. The story is simple Billy meets ex-girlfriend, Aimi after 11 years, she wants his help to disappear, away from an abusive husband. He helps and then discovers nothing is as it seems.

The plot line by G. J. Minett was excellent, the barebones of the story sounded so exciting. But unfortunately the delivery fails. This is my first book by the author, and I was left wondering if I should read his previ

When Billy returns home to spend time with his sister, he bumps into his former girlfriend, Aimi. He may not have seen her since they were teenagers but he’s never forgotten her and his feelings for her are still as strong as they were back then. Aimi tells him she wants to leave her abusive husband and she needs Billy’s help to fake her own death. But can Aimi be trusted?

Wow, what a ride! G.J. Minett sure knows how to spin a web of deceit and lies. This is one of those stories where you can’t t

Ok, I’ll just come out and say it. This book was awful. It was almost a DNF but I struggled through it and read most of it while walking on a treadmill because I felt like it would be a waste of time if I wasn’t doing something else productive while reading it. You get the picture.

Billy is a severely disturbed and confused individual who has always been in love with Aimi. In fact, she’s the one who got away. When Billy arrives in to

Well once again G.J. Minett has demonstrated that he knows not only the ingredients required for great story-telling but also when to whisk the mixture slowly and when to turn the speed up, the result a story that may make you wonder if you should have caught on a little earlier but ultimately leave you feeling satiated.

So what’s it all about? Well Billy Orr is back home visiting his older sister, Mia who is ill. Very early on, I liked Billy, saying to myself, he thinks the way I think. Billy is

I was really intrigued by the blurb. Helping faking someone's death sounds like a great storyline for an ever greater thriller. Unfortunately, the entire fake death scene was not as spectacular as I had hoped. The whole book was actually not that spectacular. The story dragged from the beginning and it was exhausting to go through the pages. Furthermore, the desc

Billy returns to his small hometown to spend time with his sister when hearing of her illness and by chance bumps into his high school sweet heart and love of his life, Aimi. We learn about Billy's childhood and past with Aimi through flashbacks, including the end of the relationship as Aimi moves to London. In this novel, we meet Billy Orr, returning to spend time with his sister Mia. Then after a chance encounter, his ex-girlfriend Aimi- his first love and the one woman he has never forgotten – asks for his help. Billy has never been able to refuse Aimi. He would do anything for her, even when it means helping her to escape her abusive husband by faking her own death. But it’s been a long time since he last saw Aimi. Is she the same girl she was all those years ago?

So many secrets. so many lies, so much betrayal. I really don't want to go into the plot any more than the blurb has expanded. This is a book about a young woman who disappears and the impact upon an old school friend who helps her. This is very much Billy's story, more so than it is Aimi's although from the prologue I was immediately intrigued by her circumstances and the mystery which seems to surround her. These are very murky waters that our protagonists are paddling in. It is clear that the ...more

This book starts so well but unfortunately does not follow through with that early promise. The flow is completely jagged and I soon came to realise that the reason it is split into parts is so that the author can jump ahead to scenarios that make no sense compared to earlier passages. I am a big fan of narrative flow and flash back and flash forward chapters can work well within that but, sadly, not in this case.

The characters are pretty much unlikeable and very one dimensional. There was so m

Recently, I’ve really started enjoying Psych Thrillers. However, when I started this book, I was like ‘not this kind of Pysch Thriller’ 🤦‍♀️. But towards the end of the book, I changed my mind. It was thought provoking and suspenseful right till the end! It was also quite creepy in certain parts but was still enjoyable! & it wasn’t that long which was great! However, The jumping time periods made this book a bit confusing.

Fairly entertaining.
The end is surprising, the story builds some tense, but well, nothing more and nothing REALLY special.
Go for this if you like suspense.👍🏻

Note: I received a free e-copy of the book via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Special thanks to the author and publisher for giving me a chance to read it.

Billy and Aimi were childhood sweethearts but that relationship was curtailed when her family moved away, leaving Billy bereft. But he got on with his life and moved away himself to work in technology. Aimi herself has also moved on and got married to another of their school friends and member of a prominent family. We begin our story 11 years after Billy and Aimi last saw each other when Billy returns home to see his sister who is ill. They bump into each other in a supermarket and swap numbers ...more

5 STAR BOOK ALERT! Wow what a read! I had seen many book reviews that reviewers claim to be as good as Gone Girl and finally along comes one that is, in my opinion, better than Gone Girl and actually very different entirely. In "Anything for Her" the main character Billy revisits his home town to spend time with his sister who we also discover is dying and bumps into his first love Aimi who is now married. It's not long before Aimi is confiding in Billy about her abusive husband and talks Billy ...more

Anything for her is a hard one for me to review as the ending was good but the rest was just ok.
In this thriller Billy is the main character, you get to know his early life throughout the book and the trauma he went through as a young child. The book flips between several different years, 2002, 2015 and 2016, which I found personally that I had to really concentrate on what year I was reading. In current time Billy has come home to be with his dying sister, whilst there he bumps into his ex girl

Gobsmackingly good! My favourite thrillers are the ones where you follow the story carefully and think you know what’s happening – only to find out you got it completely wrong! Never mind not being on the same page, I don’t think I was even on the same notepad!

Billy and Mia haven’t had the easiest of lives, as we find out through a series of brief flashbacks which fill in their history. Mia, as the eldest, has always looked out for and worried about her brother but Billy isn’t the youngster he w
