This was a surprisingly good read. I came upon this short story quite accidentally, and my curiosity was immediately spurred, but I didn't hold out any expectations. Surprise suprise, as the more I delved into the story the more I was amazed with how good the writing is, how amazingly developed and constructed the characters are, how enticing the prose becomes. Talk about a whole lot in so little. This was a great introduction to Aro's book series The Dwellers beneath the Arches, in that you are given intriguing characters that you want to learn more about, the setting is perfectly described that you feel like you are there, and in the end you cannot wait to continue/begin the story.

I liked it. Just the right amount of intriguing to make you want to know more. This book is a prequel for her series The Dwellers beneath the Arches. So it only 36 pages, which I felt was the right amount to introduce you to the series.

It did show a lot about the author, her great writing ability and her ability to start a book series off right. When I am reading independently published books, I find myself looking for errors. Errors whether in the pacing, the stor
