Hail Raisers #4

What the Hail

Rate this book
He’s wanted her since he repossessed her car and made her cry.

Baylor Hail knew two things. One, he hated crying females. Two, it was even worse when he was the one to make that female cry.

He never meant to do anything but his job, but when one thing leads to another, suddenly all he can think about is the broken woman whose car he towed.

She’s wanted him since he patted her back and told her it was okay to cry even though she knew he was lying.
Nothing ever goes right for Lark.

Not when she got married. Not when she tried to leave her abusive husband, and not when she arrived in a new town with a fresh, clean slate.

That clean slate came courtesy of a secret organization that specializes in helping abused women find a way out. They set her up with a whole new life. It just turns out that it happened to be right smack dab in the middle of another woman’s old one.

That woman also happens to be down on her luck, something that Lark learns the hard way when on her first day there, her car is towed by a handsome stranger.

It’s been two years since she’s felt any kind of sexual attraction toward a man, and she reacts badly. We’re talking full-on, hysterical breakdown as he loads her car onto his tow truck while looking at her like she’s lost it.

Maybe being crazy isn’t all that bad.

The next thing she knows, she’s spending time with the sexy stranger and life couldn’t be better—even though she still doesn’t have a car.

She thinks she’s in the clear, that she’s got it all figured out… well, that is until her ex-husband finds her again.
Now the ball is in her sexy stranger’s court as he decides whether or not her kind of crazy is worth getting killed over.

Turns out, for Baylor Hail, maybe it is.

In - flipping - credible!!

This was my first foray into Lani Lynn Vale’s world. What The Hail was the first book I picked up of hers to read. And amid the chuckling, giggling, nail biting, horror, sympathy, envious lust, and all-consuming joy at the love found between the characters, I couldn’t help but think ‘What the heck took me so long to read from this author???’

Well, I’ll be correcting this lapse tout suite. Because if her other books are anything like the story I just got of Baylor and Lark, I’m in for tons of treats. Good thing it’s my birthday week and close to Christmas and I’ve been a good girl. I’m deserving ;)

Lark had escaped a nightmare. Her nightmare was her ex-husband who would rather see her dead than happy and free. She has relocated to a small town to try to move on with her life. She wasn’t looking for love until it literally hit her upside the head. Baylor was a veteran who now worked as a tow truck driver. He hadn’t been with anyone in ages but he couldn’t get Lark off of his mind. Their first encounter was HILARIOUS and the hilarity didn’t stop there. These two were a match made in heaven with a lot of awkwardness, quirks, humor, and good old-fashioned loving to make them truly unique.

So much of my copy of this book ended up being highlighted and it was hard to choose which parts to share. This author truly has a way with words and whether I was rolling on the floor laughing or swooning over the hero’s antics, I was captivated.

🤣 Some girls are Malibu Barbie. I’m that weird knock-off, store-brand ‘Barbie’ that looks like she’s from the hood and has gone a few rounds with life.
🤣 I’m old school. When I wake up, my eyebrows are already on my face.
🤣 Baylor saying his left nut sack is his favorite because it’s closest to his heart
🤣 Pretty much anything that Baylor says. He was a freaking riot!!

I laughed so much during this book. And although there was a huge suspense plot woven into the fabric of this story, its main focus was on these characters, their interactions, the side characters, and the daily hijinks everyone was able to find themselves in. The love was what was the loudest in this book. There was so much compassion, generosity, affection and basic human kindness in this story. I am not ashamed to admit that I fell in love with every aspect of this story (except for Sal - which is a given).

Seriously, if you’re like me and haven’t tried this author before, ONE CLICK!! If you’ve already sampled her wares, then you already know that she’s amazing, so I’m sure you’ll be one-clicking anyway ;)

I'm not rating this since I didn't finish.

Oh Jesus why do I do this myself? I need to stop wasting my money. *sigh*
Now you may ask why I read this when I knew I was going not going to be happy with it? Well the answer is because I'm stupid? I really don't know what else to say.

I didn't like the hero, he was a jerk. When he met the heroine and she tried to touched he almost kicked her I don't cared he can't stand to be touched by anyone but he didn't need to try to kicked a person. That was one strike against him.
Evidence 1-
“When I touched him to get his attention, he practically kicked my hand off of him, and I’d fallen back on my butt as tears stung my eyes.”

This author likes to put her heroines in embarrassing situations. Now I don't believe for one second a button that popped out of the heroine's shorts is going to mess up the hero's dick for one second. Unless that button was flying at 60 mph. That's unfuckingbelievable. This not made me laugh.. I was rolling my eyes so hard.
Evidence 2
“However, as I got out of the car and stood up, I felt the button of my shorts pop.

And where did that button land?

On his dick.

It shot off of my shorts like I’d catapulted it from a slingshot.

One second he was walking toward me, and the next he was on the ground rolling around in the middle of the street.

I gasped and started for him, leaning over him awkwardly. “Are you okay?”

He moaned.

I touched his shoulder, and he flinched away from me.

“I’m so sorry!” I cried. “I don’t know what happened.”

He had to go to the doctor to get his balls set in place because they got twisted. Now don't asked me how because I was skimming at this point.

Heroine becomes somewhat of a stalker. She follows him around like a lost puppy.
Evidence 3-
“I didn’t know why I was following him.

I really, really didn’t.”

Hero says that the heroine is nothing special and calls her stupid.
Evidence 4-
“Honestly, there was nothing special about her. Why the fuck couldn’t I get her off my mind?”
“And this Lark chick? Well, she was stupid, too.”

I always say that I'm done with this author but this time it's for real. No more wasting my money on this author.

HAIL YES! I found MY Hail man!!! Baylor Hail... Swoon...

These Hail brothers sure are something else, and even though each of them is his particular brand of danger, they still manage to be as different amongst themselves, but still the same wild and tormented men at their core.

“I don’t…do…I didn’t even realize people carried flasks anymore.”
Her grin was rather manic. “Six boys and two girls, darlin’.” She tucked the flask back into her purse. “I nearly died going through puberty with them. If it wasn’t for this emergency flask, then I surely would have passed away from the abundance of attitude and hormones that filled my house.”

Hell, even their own mother is the first to acknowledge the kind of menace these guys were since birth! LOL

And within this Hail trope is where we find Baylor, aka MY Hail Man! The most reclusive and laid back of the Hail brothers was absolute Romance Hero PERFECTION!

I can see how even the heartbroken and tormented Lark, that ran from men, and any resemblance of relationship with the opposite sex, could resist nor stay away from this delicious male specimen.

In my old life, I’d been a phlebotomist. The bigger and juicier the veins, the more appealing a man became.
This man, though?
He had not just one good vein, but dozens of them.
By the time I’d been able to peel my eyes away from those muscular forearms, I stalled again on his tattooed-to-the-elbows biceps.

But Baylor wasn’t like other men. He was caring and smart, but he was quiet. Subdued. He didn’t like the big hubbub of nightlife.
He was like me…wasn’t he?

And oh boy, did the attraction have to be soul deep, considering how much pain, suffering and loss Lark – one of the many rescued bird by the Free crew – has suffered in her young age, in their horrific marriage. Enough to last a lifetime.

Because it was either that, or I was dead.
And I didn’t want to be dead. I’d tried it once.
It wasn’t for me.

“He broke something important inside of me, Baylor,” I told him. “When I came here…when you first met me…I was just existing. I was barely able to breathe.”

“Something is broken inside of me,” I blurted.
His eyes studied me for long moments before he let me go.
“Everyone’s broken, Lark,” he said. “You just have to find a way to fix yourself. Tape sometimes works.”

Even a man as reclusive and alienated as Baylor Hail had a weakness: women’s tears. And given he was the cause for those tears, when they first met, let’s just say they both made an impression on the other…

It’s because of her big, beautiful gray eyes. Those tears had made her eyes look like a rainstorm, and you fucking love rainstorms.

I’d just seen her that morning, but it felt like freakin’ weeks.
It’s like my eyes were thirsting for just a glance of her.

I honestly couldn’t have adored Baylor and Lark any more than I did. Maybe because I saw in them a kindred spirit in their anti-social/reclusive nature, or maybe by the way they really were twin souls, but I just gave my heart to them from the very first page on.

I’d be able to resist him.
I would.
I should’ve known that trying to resist Baylor Hail would be futile.
I didn’t, though.
Instead, I broke my cardinal rule.
To never get too close to anyone again.
I got too close.
And I liked it there.

Yep, Lark really nailed it there, it is impossible to resist Baylor! I love a good silent type – and this man sure was that -, add to that that from the get go he knew she was special, and how he fought for her, and to help her heal in any way possible, plus, I loved how unafraid he was of commitment (how refreshing that was!) and specially loved his quick solution proposal so soon into the book. No, I’m not spoiling it! LOL

“I was checking on this girl whose car wouldn’t start, and when she stood up out of her car, the button on her jean shorts popped off and shot me straight in the ball. My favorite left one.”
“You have a favorite ball?”
That was Hannah, my sister-in-law, who’d asked that.
I nodded my head. “I do. It’s the one that’s closest to my heart.”
It was the truth.

OMG, those hilarious, ROFL moments, people! Seriously! I expected, given Lark’s tortured past, and her trauma, that this book would be a bit darker that Lani Lynn Vale’s usual diversity of setting, but yet again this woman ROCKED IT!!!! That’s right, she managed to yet again give us an absolutely perfect amount and mix of sad, happy, loving, suspenseful and sexy moments. I’ll NEVER forget the two very particular ( even though I’m not a man : ouchhhh) LMFAO scenes Baylor and Lark have gone through! OMG, seriously EPIC!

Another reason for which What The Hail became my series favorite, and well as one of my LLV all time fav, was their relationship development speed, and how the whole plot really did revolve around them, and the clarity of the feelings! Almost zero push and pull, and zero OW/OM drama, apart from Lark’s ex.

Fast unveiling of the story, but still deep and so well constructed characters, at every level, that surprised me with the clarity of their understanding, and just made my black heart warm with their devotion to one another.

They don’t see what I see.
Them? They look at her and see the curvy body, the full head of beautiful hair. The ass. The tits.
Me? I see everything—including that. Tits and ass for sure. But even deeper than that, I see the caring heart. The need to be needed. The love she had for life. The worry that she wasn’t good enough for me.
No, she only saw the beauty in everything around her.
And that’s what humbled me.

“I guess you could say that. But Baylor and me? We’re like two kindred souls. It’s easy when you find someone that is the second half of your soul—the person who gets you like no one else gets you. I may not have known the man long, Dr. Castleberry, but I’ve known him long enough to know that I love him. That I can’t see myself without him. That I don’t want to wake up in the morning without him at my side.”

So there you have it! All the reason for FIVE STARS, and for which I consider Lark and Baylor’s book a MUST READ, ONE CLICK story! This series is getting better and better, and given how swoon-worthy Baylor was, I’m giddy with excitement to see what Lani Lynn Vale has reserved for Tate and Dante, that were – before I met Baylor, that was, lol – my most anticipated of the Hail Raisers! Can’t wait! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“One day,” he said, pushing in.
So goddamn slow.
“One day I’m going to fill this belly with my baby,” he promised. “I’m going to love every goddamn second of having it filled. I’m going to worship your body. I’m going to shower you with love. I’m going to make sure it’s the best thing ever, all because I want it. I want you. I can’t fucking wait…but I’m going to enjoy just you and me for a little bit.”

Baylor was my home. He was my future. I couldn’t have dreamt up a better life than the one I was finally living.

Okay I don't know where to start! Okay I'll start with Lark and Baylor! These two deserved to have their HEA after ALL that they went through in life! Lady Luck owed them and she gave right back by bringing these two together! I've never laughed so hard with all the mishaps Baylor had with his impressive "package"! I loved these two together! I also LOVED seeing all the Hails! And Pongo! And now on to the other amazing parts in their story...2 major things we see: Dante and Mary ( OH MY HEART) and of course the most biggest teas of all LLV has given us since Ghost......Rafe AND JANIE!!! Emerghaddddddddd I can't freaking wait!!!!

This book was both exactly what I was expecting and yet it didn't really play out how I was expecting at all.

I was expecting Lark to be meek and mild and probably a little broken. So I was really happy to discover she was such a fighter. She had gone through hell and yeah, she was still a little haunted by everything she had gone through but she was determined to live her life and enjoy it.

Baylor was everything that I expected. He was so protective of Lark and so gentle with her. The whole story kept me turning pages to see what was going to happen next. I really need to author stalk and find out if there's more books about the freebies and get Rafe's story.

OMG I can't wait for Dante's story because that little girl in his arms made me hope I could get through the heartbreak of his story.

After hating book 2 and being turned off by book 3, I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. It’s safe, no cheating, and OM drama is due to the abusive ex-hubby. Baylor (H) was such a good guy, I just would have preferred that he pursued Lark (h) harder from the start.

I love these Repo fellas!! Each story has been unique. Baylor is the strong beefy man you don’t want to get close to, but who you secretly want to hug.

I wasn’t really sure where this story was going at first but I loved that he and Lark became friends than more, I am not sure this would have worked for me otherwise.

Oh but it gets spicy, the action which I figured was coming but I didn’t expect how it went down! I loved it a freaking SWORD! Nuts.

The ending lmao I love on to the next.
I LOVE THESE NARRATORS!

Goodness! Full of passion, emotions and laughter What the Hail is truly the best book Lani Lynn Vale has released to date! Baylor and Lark are two broken souls who fit together perfectly to make one beautiful, sexy, funny and emotional whole. This is truly the best book Lani has written yet.

Ms. Vale has definitely hit her stride with super hot sex scenes, good golly Ms. Molly was the flirting and sex HOT! The emotions and healing that went on throughout this book touched my heart, everything felt so honest and sincere. The humor and situations Lark and Baylor got themselves into were quite unique and OMG I thought I was going to need a diaper I laughed so hard.

One of the many things I love about Baylor and Lark is that neither one are really sociable, even with all the people who love them and are always around them, they stay true to their personalities throughout the book, love doesn’t all of the sudden make them social butterflies, it gives them someone who knows how each other feels and respects it. They truly are a perfect match!

It was delightful to see the Hail brothers, Evander and Tate Casey again, and extra delightful to see some of the cast from previous books.

As always Ms. Vale delivered a book that I could not put down and makes me hungry for the next one!

5 SMOOCHES!

I’ve yet to read anything by Lani Lynn Vale that I haven’t loved. It’s a rare thing when there isn’t at least one book that I don’t like in an author’s catalogue—especially one with as many novels as Vale has written—but that’s where I am with Lani’s work. Vale has grown tremendously as an author since her first release. She’s taken some risks, she’s stepped out of her comfort zone, and all of that experimentation has paid off in her last few series where she’s gone back to her romantic suspense roots commingling her unique sense of humor with fresh approaches to her writing, steamier romances and exciting new plot ideas.

The Hail Raisers series, though, just seems to get better with each book, and that’s really saying something because each book in this series has been fantastic. What the Hail is the fourth book and an exciting romantic suspense story with a heroine on the run from her past. Long-time Vale readers will recall from her first series, Freebirds, the men of Free and the work they do helping abused women escape their lives by giving them new identities and relocating them. Lark is one of those women.

Down on her luck, Lark isn’t having an easy time of it settling into her new life when meets Baylor, who’s dealing with his own issues, as he’s towing her car. This couple had that instant spark of chemistry, but skittish Lark, while definitely attracted to Baylor, isn’t easy to give her trust. Baylor was patiently persistent and earned Lark’s trust by breaking down her walls a brick at a time. Once this couple got on the same page, though, they were magic together.

A swoon-worthy, sexy romance between two people who were meant to be together coupled with Vale’s laugh-out-loud humor and an exciting suspense plot full of surprises made What the Hail a unique and special love story in a series full of them. Five smooches from me for What the Hail by Lani Lynn Vale!

My favorite in the series so far!

Loved the chemistry between Lark & Baylor. Every scene they shared felt so natural & so right. Their conversation & sex scenes were smokin'!

Lark... What a horrible past this woman was running from. The uncaring parents, the crazy-a** ex-husband, the physically & emotionally distress... my heart went out to her on more than one occasion. Loved how strong, determined & sweet she was.

Baylor... I really liked this guy. Loved how protective he was of Lark, how he cared for his family & how dominant he was during sexy times. *swoon* But oh, Baylor & his "manhood"... He couldn't catch a break, making me both laugh & wince for him when "those" two events took place.

The Parker/Andie thing... I'm not sure I can forgive him for what he did WAY back when in the series to one of the characters. Interested to see how redemption will be a possibility for him...

The whole tiny beginning of a Rafe & Janie thing... I know we're kinda just suspending disbelief where Janie's age is concerned, but I have to admit... it's weird to see her grown up while other characters have been frozen in time age-wise. Curious to see how things play out in their book.

Very much looking forward to the next book in the series, The Hail You Say, featuring Reed & Krisney. I'm a sucker for second chance romance & theirs has the makings of something memorable! :)

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

Have I said lately how much I love this author's books... I think I am obsessed with her books.

This one, I loved loved loved. This series is awesome, all I can say is if you haven't read it you are seriously missing out.
A bit of everything, drama, sex, romance, suspense, and absolutely freakingly hilarious at times.

Lark is on the run from an abusive ex, and it seems that she just can't catch a break, between the head of HOA and people just leaving her alone, seems like she can't find her peace.
Baylor has had a bit of bad luck of things too. An accident years earlier and now he has a knee that is giving him problems and it seems a women who is intent on causing him pain. But for some reason Baylor finds a soul mate in Lark and for some reason he knows that they are the same.

Definitely a book that will have you lol and also swoon and #sigh. I need more Lani Lynn Vale, I need more!

I flipping love Lani Lynn Vale everyone of her books draws me into it's clutches and doesn't let go until I get to the words THE END even then these stories stay with me well after that . If you haven't read a book by this author you need to right away I suggest that you start with the Freebirds series first because alot of those amazing characters are mentioned throughout every LLV series . As said before every time I get my hands on a LLV book I devour it with What the Hail I felt the same maybe even more so because I've always been intrigued with what the Freebird men do and to read a story from a birds perspective and glimpses from Sam the man that had Lani Lynn Vale on my favorite must read authors . You can read this as a standalone but I suggest that you at least read Burn in hail first or the series in order well worth the binge read time (wink) . Baylor and Lark make appearances throughout the series manly book three you can feel the sexual chemistry between them , I was so excited for them and to know their back stores and wasn't disappointed . The couple are one another's other half both have scars on the inside and out they share a strong bond , the things they do for one another had me swooning for them both , little "accidents " that happen to the hero had me die laughing while cringing on the inside and the sex scenes are super HOT . Oh my gosh Baylor I couldn't wait for his book after finishing Go to hail he does the tows that no one wants to do so in doing that he meets the heroine , like all LLV heroes he's alpha protective , funny , and one hell of a dirty talker . Really liked Lark she hasn't been having good luck so when she starts to be with the hero things start to look up even when hilarious incidents occur she gets family and friends people who care . I'm so excited to see whats to come for this author we get little hints of future couples and Dante makes an appearance but he is not alone this time . Another thing I love about these books is getting more of past couple and seeing them create family and interact / play tricks on one another . The Hell you say is next it's Krisney and Reeds story and I just know it's going to pool on my heart strings . What the Hail is a must read it has everything you need in a book characters that are lovable , story line that keeps you hooked , and hilarious , sad , angry ,shocking , pantie melting moments .

Another scrumptious read by Lani Lynn!.

Baylor and Larks story is one that hits you right in the feels.

What I love about these books is that not only do you get a fantasic story with a well built plot filled to the brim with emotion that sucks you in and makes you feel/connect to. You also get a great bunch of secondary characters and little insights of what's to come in the future for them. She somehow manages to find that perfect balance of angst, suspense.. humour and love. One minute I'm crying in despair the next I'm laughing so hard my stomach aches. It's always perfectly written to extract that exact emotion conveyed through them to us as readers and I'm in awe of this author's ability to do just that.

Larks is a broken women who's lived the horrors no human should. She's a testimony to inner strength and self belief because even in the hardest times she continued to fight for her freedom. She's the strongest kind of heroine there is just for that alone and boy did I fall in love with her character. Sweet a little socially awkward and a lot of sassy she was easy to love. Her character growth throughout the story was a pleasure to read. It wasn't instantaneous.. she had to fight for herself, for her freedom but I rooted for her every step of the story.

Baylor.. silent, brooding and all kinds of sexy!. That man can repossess my car any day of the week and the rest if he likes to!. Unfortunately for him things haven't gone to plan with his life and a crying female seems to be the cherry on his Shitstorm. I luuurvd him though! For all his brooding grump he was exactly the kind of strength Lark needed. He pushed her to take her freedom yet was protective and loving in all the best ways.

Together they helped heal eachothers broken. They perfectly matched eachother in everyway. The chemistry was so on point it was burning hot!. I adored the easy banter and crazy dysfunctional family shenanigans between all the characters. I love the little sneak peaks of future couples and of course hearing from past couples.

There's always so much to look forward to after finishing one of these books and of course I think we all want to get our mitts on Dante! I just know it's going to break my heart and have me an emotional rollercoaster.

But I cannot wait for Rafe's book... I have a feeling that's going to be fucking fireworks!!.

What The Hail is everything I love from Lani Lynn Vale multiplied by a thousand! Hands down this is my favorite (so far lol!) in The Hail Raisers series. I was literally, and loudly, cracking up at times while reading this. What The Hail has the perfect amount of fun, humor, swoon worthy romance, and heat. I could not get enough of Baylor and Lark! From the second I started reading this I couldn’t stop. Lani’s writing is beyond addictive and her characters are impossible to not love. Trust me when I say, once you read one, you’ll want to read them all.

I never thought I’d say this, but Baylor as dethroned Sebastian (Lights To My Siren) as my favorite. *GASP* I know, I know it was a shock to me too. Stick with me here though, you see Baylor is this perfect mix of quiet and almost brooding (but not quite) while having an amazing sense of humor, being the protective alpha we’ve all come to love from Lani’s men, and still being a great big sweetheart when it comes to his woman. He’s just one great big hunk of sexy perfection. I don’t even feel slightly bad about my fangirl gushing here. Baylor is perfect! I want him for Christmas.

I love, love, love Lark! I’ve been dying to learn more about her since she was first introduced and she was even better than I anticipated. She had me absolute rolling with laughter so many times, while other times she had me just wanting to give her a hug. Sweet, funny, and completely relatable it was like she could have been any woman’s best friend. That’s yet another thing I adore about all of Lani’s books. Her women aren’t some unreachable fantasy, they’re not perfect. Her woman are real. They’re just like every girlfriend you know, with quirks, imperfections, and true good women. I more than loved Baylor and Lark and I can’t wait for the next book in the Hail Raisers series!

I freaking loved this book!

Ok, so the beginning didn’t gel with me, but that was just me. As much as I love the books by this author, I just couldn’t get into the freebirds series…and this book ties directly back into that series (not in a non-standalone way though)…and I just felt myself wandering when I was reading. But once Lark and Baylor met, I was hooked. I loved seeing Lark come to trust him. I loved seeing Baylor want nothing more than to be with her. I loved seeing Baylor introduce Lark to Pongo. And I REALLY loved that Lark went all out and got his dog back for him. One thing I hate more than anything in books (or movies or everything) is when a person’s dog is taken from them, and they can’t get them back. That pisses me off so quickly that it’s not even funny. So seeing Baylor be reunited with his dog…priceless perfection.

Throughout the book I kept waiting for Lark’s ex to show up and cause problems. And while he did, I was surprised that he didn’t cause MORE problems. That he wasn’t more of a sustained threat. The same goes for the other person in the book that lived to make Lark’s life miserable. I just expected more.

Even saying that, I still loved the book. I read it in pretty much one sitting, totally ignoring life and other things I needed to do. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone!

Lark isn't having any luck, her life is just a mess and now her car is being repossessed, and so enters Baylor do the job. She then starts a new life under the protection of Free,
meets Baylor again and they investigate an evening of fun...but one night was not enough for Lark, but she doesn't want to bring trouble to Baylor's door. She is never truly free from her past, it is never too far away. And will Baylor be truly happy with her.
A liked this story. The Hail boys are some of favourite characters and Baylor was a great addition. He was a patient and sensitive guy, someone that Lark deeply needed after the all the trouble she had been through, and she too could see deep troubled feelings that Baylor liked to keep hidden. I enjoyed this story very much, it is easy to follow and the characters and plot are well developed. I would highly recommend this book to any one who loved romance.

Be prepared to get dragged into this world in Hostel, TX that we've all grown to love. Here we find Baylor, one of the Hail brothers and Lark a hard working gal that can't seem to get ahead for falling behind.

We get to hear how Harold the only banker in town and President of the H.O.A is crazy as ever. We meet Pongo and find out the crazy things Lark won't do to for someone she cares about. We get more of a glimpse at the broken Dante.

The best part though is the crazy shenanigans that seem to flow so easily through this authors books. So many times I caught myself laughing out loud and I may have spewed coffee everywhere, twice.

I can't wait until the new year and the next Hail book. I think this is fastly becoming my FAVORITE series of hers yet!!!

If there's one thing that i absolutely love about Lani Lynn Vale, it's how totally unexpected her books are. What The Hail had me laughing so much that i had tears rolling down my face (and my 8 year old thinking i was crying). I mean, it's not every day that you'll come face to face with devil jean shorts and its killer button from hell that will require intense medical treatments... to the balls! Oh yes, karma really had it in for Lark, but this woman refuses to go down without a fight and Baylor unwilling to lose something as precious as the woman who humbles him with her outlook on life.

The best part of this book?! Finally realizing why the Hail family history sounded so familiar - i had heard it through Tobias' sorty in the Dixie Warden Rejects series *sigh*. That MC family isn't completely gone - i can 'see' them again through this series and i'm loving every single moment!

WTH? = What the Hail

Another amazing addition to the Hail Raisers series. Each book has me convinced that it's my favorite in the series, until the next book is released. I just can't get enough of the amazing Hail brothers. They are a close-knit bunch who love to give each other hell, but at the same time would give their lives to protect each other. As I read each book, I'm drawn deeper into their lives, and then I don't want to leave when I turn the last page.

Lark isn't her real name. It's safer that way. She's running from her past and she's hoping that it doesn't catch up with her. That he doesn't find her. Her ex is someone she hopes to never see again. But she's smart enough to know that's an unrealistic hope. In the back of her mind, she's aware that he has the resources to find her, and he will, eventually. So, she stays alert, always cautious and observant. Ready to run.

Baylor is used to upsetting people. None of them are ever happy when he repossess their cars. But this one, she gets to him with her tears. He wants to turn her frown upside down. He feels protective towards her and doesn't understand why. However; it always seems to be him on the receiving end of the trouble when the two of them run into each other.

Lani Lynn Vale always makes me laugh. If it's not the funny chapter headings, it's the internal dialogue or witty banter between characters. But at the same time, she always tackles serious issues and does a good job telling a story that will grab you in the gut and make you feel something. As the series progresses, she shares glimpses of the other character's lives. Just enough to tease her readers and get them intrigued about what she has in store for them next. I'm so damn excited to get my hands on The Hail You Say, that the waiting is going to be hail. The line forms here...

First, let me tell you... that Lani Lynn Vale is an expert tease when it comes to mysterious or for-the-time-being reclusive characters. Yes, I'm speaking about Rafe and Dante. And yeas, I'm frustrated as hell!
Second, I freaking love Hail brothers.
Third, I got so excited about the second, I forgot the third.
Fourth, I don't know why I'm still doing this.
Fifth, I'm hoping I get my motor—the stupid brain of mine—running again by continuing this silliness.
Sixth, Baylor was absolutely well-written character who stole my heart in a second. (To be honest, I hadn't paid too much attention to him in previous books. Blasphemy, I know!) I loved how he interacted with not only Lark but the others. Speaking of Lark, she was an introvert, didn't like socializing very much (and that particular dislike was even more intensified by her abusive ex) so it is an understatement when I say it melted my heart how Baylor stood up for her and basically said, "Back the fuck off," to chatty and buoyant Hannah.
Seventh, I can't get enough of this series.
Eighth, don't worry this is the last one.
Ninth, oops?

GREAT story! Loved Baylor & Lark, highly enjoyed the action & just pretty much everything about this story! These two have a lot of together time, banter, and the story kept a good pace throughout. I also enjoyed the snippets into other stories. Thumbs up!! : )

I received a copy of this book to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

What the Hail is the fourth book in Lani Lynn Vale's Hail Raisers Series. It can be read as a standalone. If you have not met the Hail brother's yet you are missing out and in for a treat.

Baylor Hail has wanted Lark since he repossessed her car and made her cry. But, Baylor Hail knew two things. One, he hated crying females. two, it was even worse when he was the one to make that female cry. He never meant to do anything but his job, but when one thing leads to another, suddenly all he can think about is the broken woman whose care he towed.

Lark has wanted Baylor since he patted her back and told her it was okay to cry even though she knew he was lying. Nothing ever goes right for her Not when she got married. Not when she tried to leave her abusive husband, and not when she arrived in a new town with a fresh, clean slate. That clean slate came courtesy of a secret organization that specializes in helping abused women find a way out. They set her up with a whole new life. It just turns out that it happened to be right smack dab in the middle of another woman's old one. It has been two years since Lark has felt any kind of sexual attraction toward a man and she reacts badly. We are talking full-on hysterical breakdown as he loads her car onto his tow truck while looking at her like she's lost it. The next thing she knows she is spending time with the sexy stranger and life couldn't be better-even though she still doesn't have a car. She thinks she is in the clear, that she has it all figured out....well, that is until her ex-husband finds her again. Now the ball is in her sexy stranger's court as he decides whether or not her kind of crazy is worth getting kill over.

I loved this book and just have to say that I want a Baylor Hail of my very own. I loved everything about him. He hasn't had an easy life. A terrible accident though made him a millionaire and he is able to take care of the ones he loves but he suffers from PTSD and is kind of a loner. This is why he and Lark are so perfect for each other. She is closed off and doesn't like to be in crowds. She too has a hard time trusting anyone and with good reason. Her ex-husband no doubt is after her. He use to beat her within a inch of her life and she has finally gotten out. These two had an attraction from the very beginning. I loved how they opened each other up and Baylor was so fierce in his love for Baylor that he helped her to discover a new life. You guys have to read this book. It is beyond amazing. You do not want to miss it. I for one can not wait to see which Hail brother we get to read about next.

This is the fourth book in the Hail Raisers series and although each book can be read as a standalone, I would advise reading the other books in the series first. This is my first read of this author and therefore not having read any of the books in the series I did get a bit lost and it took me a while to ‘get’ the Hail Raisers world.

Lark is on the run from her ex, always trying to be one step ahead of him. She moves to a new town hoping she has left her troubles behind her only to find herself in a new placement with debts and a car loan that has been called in. Hence she finds herself begging the gorgeous man not to repossess her car to no avail. Then she continues to bump into Baylor Hail thereafter and failing at fighting her attraction to him.

Baylor is one of the Hail brothers and repossesser of cars for the bank. He is a loner with his own insecurities of the past which has led to him living without a relationship due to his fear of being touched and no sex for the past eight years! However the beauty he keeps meeting daily quickly becomes an obsession for him.

This was a fairly basic plot with touches of humour, some which I found a little strange to be honest. The characters were likable but I think for me the problem was not knowing this author’s writing style and then falling into a series four books in. None the less it was enjoyable for the most part.

I like that the author doesn’t keep readers waiting for the next book of which the next one in this series is due out within a month. Overall this was a different but enjoyable romantic romp and taking out my own issues with not knowing this author writing style or the series I have pushed to four stars.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love Lark and Baylor !!
(BUT I should have read this book before the book with Jannie and Rafe, because Kinda Don't Care starts right after this book chronologically ><)
A romance that I devoured because Baylor was so nice and I loved their cute romance but also because there was drama EVERYWHERE : around Lark's past (so awful, I was rather surprised that she's so brave and so much a fighter despite everything that's happened to her !!) and all the business of Free (whose series I absolutely have to read !! Even if they don't look so good xD)
In short, a perfect light romance to read =)
What The Hail had me asking what the hell was Ms. Vale doing to my emotions and to my heart! I think for me this was the most emotional one of the series so far. Honestly if you haven’t read any of the books in this series or if I am to get real any of Lani Lynn Vale’s books what are you waiting for? I only have a small list of will read authors no matter what they write and Ms. Vale is one of the ones on the top of the list.
Baylor and Lark were meant for each other in so many ways, the connection they share, the struggles the have been through, the chemistry between them are only a very few of the reasons why I love them as a couple so much. Lark will make you want to protect her yourself after the absolute hell her ex has put her through and especially when you learn all about who he is and what his job is. Baylor was sexy, protective and exactly what Lark not only needed in her life but deserved.
What The Hail is an emotional book but it is also funny, sexy, has that suspense and drama we have come to know and love from Ms. Vale. Each book just continues to get better and better and this book whore can’t wait to read what Lani Lynn Vale writes next!
I love this series! I loved this book! It's been a hot minutes since I've read an LLV book. Having devoured so many back to back, I needed a change of scenery for a bit. I recently read a couple serious (but still amazing) books and was looking for something a little lighter. I realized that Reed's book had just come out, reminding me I hadn't yet read Baylor's book, so I jumped right on that!
While there is a slight seriousness to this story, what with Lark's ex on the loose, there was still a lot of humor with her and Baylor getting together. They were awesome together and I loved how even though it moved fast, neither really fought their feelings. Sure, Lark tried to leave to save him, but she didn't even really make it out of the driveway before he stopped her 😂 After that they were just together and that was that!
This was another great addition to the series and I can't wait to dive into Reed's book next!
Wow!!! This might be my favorite book of this series. Baylor is a sweet, cocky man who meets Lark under unfortunate circumstances. Lark who is broken beyond repair as far as she believes, but after meeting some locals in her new town she meets a very sexy man who is bad yet very good for her. This book is funny & Lark is by far the quirkiest introvert, but her character was so great to read. I loved her. She had such a hard life before she moved & ur heart went out to her, but as soon as she lets herself be normal it just makes the story. There were a lot of feelings within this book, but it was an amazing story, well written & a great addition to this series!!
I liked Baylor and Lark. It was obvious from the other books that these two were going to end up together.
One of the craziest relationships in the bunch, with the button flying, almost broken appendages, people walking around with swords....
I will say that I was starting to feel some type of way with how things were going for Lark and she was one of the Freebirds, then when it was explained I was back on solid footing with the men of Free.
Lastly, I want more Rafe.
