Isadora Brown loves all things dark, dangerous, and deadly. Things that go bump in the night and send shivers down backs are things she adores. She loves (and writes) sexy, forbidden romance, usually with some bite and a hint of magic. She is the author of The Somerset Series, The Dark Paradise Trilogy, The Stranger Trilogy, and The Neverland Trilogy.
Aurelia Stone is seen as a joke by her family as she is a witch who cannot do spells so must be just a human. She goes with her sister to watch the vampire gladiator battles but instead of inspiring her magic, seeing Thyos fighting it actually starts a chain of events that could destroy them both. Thyos is part of the feared Berkano clan of vampires but is now reduced to fighting and living alone in the Citta di Paludi. When Aurelia wanders into his own part of the city, is attacked and mortally wounded Thyos saves her and offers her his blood to heal her she goes against the rules and agrees. This sparks a chain of events that causes Aurelia's powers to manifest in a very unexpected and uncontrolled way they are pushed together to escape for their lives. But how can they be together when it is forbidden?
I really enjoyed this story, the whole premise and plot. The forbidden nature of their relationship and the way they did what was right for them no matter the consequences were lovely to experience. My only issue with the story was the way it ended which felt a bit rushed and not so well thought out. I did love their dynamic as a couple and would still want to read more about them in future books in the series though as it was basically very enjoyable more than not.
What good is a witch without any powers? Well she just might be the answer to all her world’s problems. Aurelia is the forgotten daughter. With older sisters who ooze magical ability and skill, her complete failure to cast a single successful spell in over twenty years makes her wonder if she’s of any use in this life at all. Thyos is a handsome, ancient vampire who’s seen too much of the worst the world has to offer and really doesn’t want anything to do with the naïve, young witch that’s haunting his thoughts. Set against a background of political turmoil and discrimination, this story is reminiscent of The Chronicles of the Uprising by Katie Salidas while still being uniquely its own world. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Poisonous Temptation is the first book in the Berkano Vampire Collection series. This is a standalone book with an open-ending for future books. There is violence and adult scenes so 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The storyline is average but overall, it was a good read and an interesting twist on the classic vampire, witch, and human tale. I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I received a copy of this book from the author and chose to leave a review for other readers.
I had no expectations about this story other than thinking I might not like the story line. Pleasantly surprised I truly enjoyed the story. The female lead Aurelia occasionally got on my nerves with her blindness about what her family was truly like. Thyos what can I say….vampire hotness.
Who says that different types of people can't get along? Aureola, a witch, and Thyos, a vampire, found a way to get along. Circumstances threw them together. The characters are interesting and complicated in some ways. I enjoyed this book. Voluntarily reviewed this book. Look forward to more about this pair.
I loved this! Well written with an addictive storyline, Brooding vampires, jealous lovers, steamy scenes, romance, action, adventure and fab characters makes this a great Read!
Aurelia Stone is one of four daughters. She is a witch but can not get her spells to work. Thyos Berkano is a vampire and they give no quarter. Thyos sees a witch and a human who is standing over her while she bleeds out. He saves her. This is an unusual story, the premise is three factions, witches who work for humans and vampires who are treated like dirt. The characters are so interesting, the descriptions fill in the background for you. Then the plot, there are a lot of threads but the author has woven them into a smoothly, even paced, mesmerizing book. Thyos and Aurelia can't keep their hands off each other, lots of sex. I enjoyed this tale because it was nice to see Aurelia finally stand up for herself and when she came into her power, her whole outlook changed. Great Book. I received this ARC for free and voluntarily reviewed it.
