A boy regrets his decisions when he pops up in the Magic Club of his school. 😛

I watched this show when it was airing and when I saw the first volume of the manga was on sale I decided to give the manga a shot as well.

Meet our MC, a boy who would rather just game and go home but has to pick a club. Oh boy, he is going to wish he had picked another club room to check out because in the one he picked has a senpai in it who desperately wants to do magic.. but isn’t really good at it (I am still on the fence if it is just stage fright or if she is truly just not able to do things).

The sempai is trying and I admire that she never gives up. I would probably, after so many embarrassing events, have stopped already for the sake of myself. 😛 I love that she keeps trying new tricks and that she is trying to truly be a sempai for her assistant.

We also meet sempai’s sister and oh boy that one… That is all I will say. I am still laughing at how silly the person is.

I love how our assistant keeps coming back despite everything, even gets roped into things. I guess I can see why given the fanservice that our Sempai does without her knowing she is doing it (or well, generally she doesn’t know). I do love how good he is with magic and how that infuriates her. He can do all the tricks with ease and I wonder if he is just naturally gifted or if we will get to see him study hard on learning the tricks.

There is plenty of fanservice! Sempai really gets into some coughs interesting situations as she does her magic tricks. From stripping and forgetting her clothes to doves crawling through her clothes and entering out of the bottom to her getting all bondaged um tied up. I am still not sure how I feel about the fanservice, though it did make me laugh quite often. How did she end up like that? Really? HOW?

I love that we get some information on magic, on tricks, and some other things relevant to the story. I definitely learned some new things.

Next to that, I also loved the memos and the notes that were found in the chapters. They made me laugh and they added something extra. And I like that the chapters were separated in parts (with some funny titles to add).

The art was just fabulous. I love that, despite this not being animated, you could clearly see how pretty and interesting Sempai’s eyes were. I hope this doesn’t sound too creepy. I definitely don’t mean it like that. But given the other people in the story she has some interesting eyes.

All in all, definitely want to read this manga further. I had fun reading it and I love all the extras.

In this oddball manga, a high school boy joins his school’s magic club and gets more than he bargained for when he meet the club’s only member. She is Sempai, a cute but strange girl who blushes a bit and her magic skills are a bit amateurish. As her assistant, he tries to help her become better with her magic but it always gets kooky or unusual.

It’s not a great start, but still a good mixed bag of tricks. There’s not really a story to see yet, but the humor and Sempai’s odd personality keeps the show from being boring. I really hope there’s some new tricks soon. B (75%/Good)

Magical Sempai actually isn't that bad, but I gave it 3.0 out of 5.0 because it lacks crucial point in "I'm looking forward to read next volume".

Magical Sempai is a manga that each chapter kinda irrelevant to each other, it doesn't looks like has strong main plot but it still has it, to be "Magical Sempai" of course.

Magical Sempai's main content are magic tricks and "sempai" herself. Sempai's clumsiness lead its content to show "sempai" embarrassing's magic tricks and her "body". ( I knew some people is going to rage regarding this one, so I won't recommend people with that behavior to read it. After all I'll simply put it as one of those "Boy's manga". )

I'd like to recommend it to people who love magic tricks, it's gotta be one of manga that seems like can inspire you to try one or two thing in each chapter. and also for those people who wanna read, but don't wanna something heavy plotted, this one will suit your need.

Dropped after Chapter 3.

English synopsis:
Our main character finds out that his school requires him to join a club and during his reluctant search he stumbles upon Tejina Senpai attempting magic tricks in her clubroom. Tejina Senpai has massive stage fright however and so now that she has an audience her attempts are simply comedic and usually result with her in sexual situations.

I tried, I really did. But this manga was just so extremely boring and uninteresting. I was promised humor and laughs but all I got were extremely unimpressive attempts at comedy that went nowhere. I’ve been dropping manga from the first chapter lately, but I gave Tejina-senpai three whole chances to not be a complete disappointment and it failed every time. Maybe it picks up after chapter three, but too bad I don’t care enough to try and find out.

Lo que más me gusta de mangas de este tipo es que no importa la trama, lo único que importa es entretenerte. Es precisamente el tipo de historias que más disfruto.

This series is a little on the racier side with plenty of boob and up-skirt shots, but that's the point in a lot of ways, so I won't discount the book solely for what's often in manga because it's pretty darn funny.

A boy is required to join an after school club but he's certainly not athletic so he decides to pop in to Magic Club and what he gets is a crazy funny goofy sempai whose tricks really never go right, yet she keeps trying. She loves that she now has an assistant and he's willing to stick it out even when she cuts up his money and finally declares that it's really not even a sanctioned club yet.

The chapters move quickly and do actually teach readers about magic which is my favorite part in addition to her antics. It's for the non-athlete hobbyists out there that want a lighthearted friendship between a clumsy magician and the boy who decides to walk through the door.

This is another manga whose primary purpose is to titillate with lots of pictures of breasts and exposed underpants, which is really not my jam. I understand this is fairly common in Japanese media, but I had hoped that wasn't what this book would be about. It's through the point of view of kind of an average slacker character, and if the characters have actual names, they aren't very important. The individual chapters only slightly build upon one another, and the main redeeming feature of this book is that it actually does teach you a few minor things about individual stage magic tricks and a smattering of history about Houdini. It wasn't enough to make me want to read any more, though... and I only finished this volume because I don't like leaving things unfinished.

2020 Read #328

This manga is uncomfortably lewd, but I didn’t hate it, much like how I felt reading Plus-Sized Elf. Sempai does get a bit annoying, though, with her dim-witted persistence to try and pull off magic tricks...
