Orange chicken was a game-changer.

Meridee Mansford wants nothing to do with the popular crowd. She’s comfortable being invisible. But that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about the hunky football player who visits the campus ice cream shop where she works. Still, she’s smart enough to know he’d never notice a girl like her, and she’d never want him even if he did. Too much

Game Changer is a charming, clean New Adult romance about an unlikely couple who would probably never have found each other and fallen in love, were it not for an unexpected twist of fate.

Charissa Stastny has created a delightful heroine in Meridee, a girl-next door type who works night shift at the hospital and thirty hours a week at the college ice-cream parlor, all while somehow maintaining a straight-A average on her undergraduate degree. Meridee has a secret, however; plain face and boring

It was definitely G-rated, but it had
really good character development.
I liked both Meridee and Parker, and
I liked the HEA that they got!!

Game Changer tells the story of university football star Parker and quiet, hard-working Meridee. One’s in the limelight; the other wants to be anything but. Although they’re both attracted to each other, events and life’s circumstances keep them apart. Carrying on with the traditional will-they/won’t-they style of romance novels, the reader will enjoy getting to know these two college students. Both have more depth than they first appear to, and both are wrestling with personal demons. The writi ...more

"I blame falling in love on orange chicken. no joke. The balance of a human life is so precarious that a simple Chinese dish can throw it all out of whack. At least, that's what happened to me. These instinctual choices have the potential to change lives just as dramatically as a simple pivot or tuck to the right on the field to dodge a defender can become a game-changer."

Meridee Mansford works on campus at "Ferdinand's Washington State University's ice cream shop, for the last three years." The

I received an advance copy of this book to read and review. I loved it! The author did a great job! Before, reading it, I admit to being conflicted--what if I didn't like it, what would I write? Whew! Not to have worried! All is well!

The one aspect I struggled with was how such a great guy could for one minute rationalize Lily, let alone for so long in the story. He seemed smarter than that and better than that. What a gosh awful girl.

There were times I barked out a laugh while reading and I am

Opposites attract when the overlooked sweet girl lands herself the popular football star in this quasi Cinderella story. It’s the perfect read to keep you up way past your bedtime—and leave a smile on your face when your head finally hits the pillow.
Parker Harrington quite literally runs into Meridee Mansford, creating quite the aftermath. He can’t forget his run-in with the unassuming beauty—even though his life trajectory is already headed straight toward perfection with a promising sports car

This was a great book. It had plenty of heat without all the graphic stuff you don't need. I love how the characters interacted with each other and how they both learned and grew into better people. The romance also wasn't contrived, even the misunderstandings were totally possible. Thank you, thank you for giving us a totally real reaction from Meridee. Sometimes the Heroine is so quick to forgive the Hero when the misunderstandings happen, but here we got a truly real reaction. Anyone who was ...more

I received an ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is exactly the book I needed now. Something light and fun and realistic romance. I literally flew threw this book I loved and enjoyed it so much.

I am taking off a star because I felt like the end was rushed, and I hate these kind of resolutions when a relationship this short ends in a way like this. Plus, I felt like the past of the characters could have been dealt with more. I wish they wouldn't have only had a complete

This book brings two most unlikely characters together, the football star that everyone knows, and the smart, invisible girl working hard towards her education. They literally crash into each other, and that event sets the wheels in motion of a beautiful tale.
This book is a story filled with self-reflection. It is written in alternating POV, giving the reader a good look into the thoughts of both Meridee and Parker. As the book progresses, you get to understand them and their actions even better

I loved it - especially the way it starts & finishes in the narrator style - I swear you could make a movie or tv series from this book, that’s just how it played out for me. I could so easily imagine it - of course there have been quite a few movies made that follow a similar story line to this but none that entertained me half as much.

This book had me laughing &, I have to admit, at times cringing or shaking my head. It’s rather different to the usual genre that I read so I wasn’t sur

My review is 4.5 Stars

I have found another great author! I was hooked from the first sentence of the prologue. Game Changer is full of great dialog, fun scenarios, and fascinating characters.

You know how sometimes you read about the nice boy with the gorgeous but shallow girl and wonder why in the world he doesn’t see right through her? Author Charissa Stastny does a fantastic job of making sense of why Parker sticks with Lily in this story.

Meridee is a lot of fun with the way she creates nickna

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. If you’re looking for a clean romance that is a quick read, then this is the book for you. It’s not earth shatteringly good, nor will it be marked as one of the best books I’ve read this year, but it is a fun quick escape read, that for the most part I enjoyed. There are 2 narrators here. Parker, a very popular college football player, and Meridee, a shy, self described “plain Jane” wh ...more

A super sweet, clean, "young love" story. This was an easy, quick read, can easily be read in a day or two. Nice story-line that would be great for a teen to read as well as adults.

There was good character development. I really loved Meridee. She was your everyday girl next door. She was sweet, nice, intelligent, but had a touch of low self-esteem. And... she has a past (that you learn about later in the book). Ooo how I love a girl with a past!

My problem was with Parker (the lead male) I really

Game changer. 4 stars. What a fun college campus reality check! He had wanted "Barbie" for two years and now that he is in the spotlight she is all over him. Who could say no to that. Despite some of her questionable antics he continues to be smitten. It takes catching her cheating for him to walk away. Sadly, many people fall head over heals in lust.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book, it was cute. There was something about it though that I can't put my finger on as to why I didn't like it more. I did have a hard time putting it down however. I liked how Parker was patient with Meridee and how he still somewhat flirted and noticed things about her even when she didn't want to go out with him. I think if there had been more back story with both of the characters it would have made more sense with why they

A nice college love story that takes the characters a little while to figure out. Not as well edited as I would like.

Meridee and Parker attend the same college. He is a football star and she is a self-imposed wallflower. She does find him attractive, but he doesn't see her. A run-in between Meridee, Parker, and orange chicken send them on the path to HEA. However, as in most stories, there are a lot of bumps along the way. Parker is dating a cheerleader (shallow, Barbie style) and Meridee has a

What a charming and fun read! Game Changer is the classic boy-meets-girl/boy-loses-girl/boy-finds-girl (always a hit with me) and is a contemporary romance told in two perspectives: Meridee, a very relatable but aloof young woman with a secret, painful past who works in an ice cream parlor, and Parker, a boisterous, charm-oozing star of the college football team who is currently infatuated with his blond bombshell girlfriend. The two main characters meet in a not-so-glamorous incident involving ...more

This was a cute book. I really liked Meridee. She reminded me of myself in a lot of ways. She was dedicated and realistic, but those were hard won attributes it would seem. However, I could never really like Parker. He was disrespectful of Meridee over and over again. He wouldn't call her by her own name. She was quite shy and introverted, but he kept putting her in situations where she was uncomfortable. That is not romance. That is not love. That is selfish. I read this several weeks ago, but ...more

We all have preconceived notions about cheerleaders, jocks, nerds, or whoever – especially in high school and college. If we open our hearts and minds, we realize that people aren’t as bad as who we thought and that not all people fit into that tiny mold that we create in our own minds. Some jocks are smart and considerate. Some nerds are actually not very smart or nice. Once we get to know a person and open our heart, the world is full of possibilities. The world would be such a better place if ...more

I haven't read anything but this author so decided to give this series a try. Cute story but almost seemed like teenage high school drama, not young adults in college. I loved the characters though, especially Meridee, Parker, and his mom.

Lots of steamy kisses and romance, but nothing explicit. Bad language through out which is why I gave it 4 stars because I felt it was unnecessary and didn't add to the story line.

Cute story that I read in one night but don't feel the need to read again. I re

Meridee is a college girl who feels kind of insignificant and is infatuated with the hot football star that comes into the ice cream shop she works at. She is completely likable, even though she goes through all the typical misunderstandings. Parker took awhile for me to like. He was shallow and a bit of a jerk, like seriously clueless. Through the normal type of problems the two find a happily ever after that ends in a sweet way. Told from both Meridee and Parker's viewpoint. First football rom ...more

Cute story about a girl, Meridee, who often gets overlooked by the popular crowd. Upon a collision causing food to end up all over her, a star football player starts to take notice. Meridee is uncertain about Parker. Is he a player? Doesn't he have a barbie girlfriend? What could he see in me? Will Meridee give Parker a chance? Or, will she continue to hide?

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It was a sweet romantic book about a rather unlikely couple. I really liked that each chapter was written from the point of view of either of the main characters (Meridee and Parker) and I also liked the message it conveyed that one does not have to be perfect to find true love and good looks are not the most important thing. I have to be honest though, I found the ending a bit exaggerated as it happened a bit too fast for my ...more

Game Changer was a cute book. I loved seeing the relationship change troughout the book. I especially enjoyed the beginning, after that the book is more slow and sometimes it felt a bit dragging. I saw quite a few similarities between book 1 and book 2, so this series does follow a standard pattern, but they are still fun to read. I prefer book 2 over book 1. The relationship between the two main characters felt a bit unnatural at times.

Game Changer is a clean fun romance. I enjoyed reading it. The characters were fun and there was good chemistry between the main characters. It taught a good message about the soul of a person versus the outside. I like that there was growth with the characters and that there was a cute story along the way.
I would recommend this book.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
