The locals of Vein River fear the covered bridge and avoid it at night at all costs.

They say she hangs in the darkness, her long silk nightgown drifting in the breeze. She swings from a noose, her toes rat-tat-tatting across the hood should someone drive beneath her.

As legend goes, if you receive her withering kiss, you either die, get sick, or go stark raving mad. Your

Okay, here’s the thing about this book.
I can’t really tell if I liked it a lot or if it was one of those books that I’m going to shove down into oblivion forever, without putting much thought on it, and in a blink of an eye.
It alternated moments of pure genius to incredibly cheesy and laughable scenes, not to mention that the first half of it was quite weak, filled with clichés and overused tropes (seriously Annie? You just got into a new town and you meet your soulmate after 5 seconds flat? A

Annie Forrester's parents are divorcing and she and her mom are moving to Vein River where they inherited a house from Aunt Ruby.

But all is not as it seems in Vein River as Annie learns that a bridge is being haunted by a girl named Angeline who has the power to suck the life out of people and leave them withered, dead or stark crazy.

Can Annie get to the the bottom of the mystery surrounding Vein River and figure out why Angeline is haunting the bridge?

This is not normally the type of book I would pick up and read. I am so glad I did. The story pulls you in from the beginning. Annie is a 16 year old girl trying to come to terms with the recent events that has happened to her family. It’s because of this events that she moves to the town of Vein River with her mother. There she meets a Copper, and his friends. She learns of an urban legend of a young girl who haunts a bridge. If you see her you are cursed. Many members of this town are plagued ...more

The book starts off in a typical young adult fashion, but quickly pulls you in. The story itself is dark and mysterious and combines some of the best elements of the horror and mystery genres together. The characters are well developed and I do like that there is a contrast in personalities even though it is set in a small town. Often times, it is easy for stories to give similar personality traits to multiple characters in such a close setting, but the author does a fantastic job at making sure ...more

This book automatically pulls one into the story. From the beginning, the author establishes the mystery behind the legend of the ghost that haunts the bridge. It's a passionate, intense story that kept me guessing throughout the read. The mystery of Angelina was heartwarming and I couldn't help but feel intense sorrow for her character. Honaker does an amazing job at creating a story that will not leave anyone disappointed. I can honestly say this was one of the best books I have read on a whim ...more

Loved this story. Told from multiple view points it reads like a good horror movie and some of the twists were really surprising! Only thing that let it down was how the main characters relationship suddenly went from 0-100 near the end. Just didn’t make sense that she “loved” him after three dates.

I really enjoyed this for the most part. It's October and I wanted a ghost story and this is a good one. The only thing I had a problem with was the "why" the haunting was happening. It was a little bit too graphic for me but others might not have a problem with it.

For those who want to know: This one has some language, violence and mature content (toward the end).

I expected to find a completely horrific read from beginning to end but what I found was so much more than that. I was captured by the storyline and I felt like I was right there experiencing what the characters were. I went from being scared to crying as the horrifying truth of Angeline was revealed. Be prepared to ignore any plans you have because once you start to read Vein River; you won't want to put it down. -The Voluptuous Book Diva

I like reading good horror novels so this one turned out to be a fairly good and scary read. Annie moves with her mother in a quiet town over Vein River with a haunted bridge. The ghost in question is Angelina - a scary apparition that makes the lives of people crossing the bridge at night, a living hell. But what exactly is the story behind the haunting? How is Angelina related to Annie? And can Annie save the town from the wrath of a vengeful ghost? Warning: Contains some graphic scenes toward ...more
