The Other Woman is a wildly entertaining psychological thriller that's, unfortunately, more about the twist than substance.
The plot: Emily meets the love of her life, Adam. Adam is a pretentious ass and treats Emily like dirt. His mother, Pammie, treats her even worse and Emily thinks she's a psycho. Then there’s James, Adam’s brother whom Emily has the hots for. But hey, it must be true love because Emily is going to marry Adam no matter who or what gets in her way, including his psychotic mother and dreamy brother. But there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes and poor Emily is in for a rude awakening!
If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s when female characters come off as desperate and unintelligent when it comes to finding a man. Sure, Adam treats Emily like sh*t but she’s never felt this way about any man before so it must be true love. This level of stupidity irks me like no other. I almost DNF’d as I couldn’t bear to read any more about Emily’s stupid choices, but I kept going hoping that there would be a payoff. I’m not sure that there was, but the twist certainly put things in a different perspective.
The Other Woman is very readable, especially if you can tolerate Emily’s moronic choices and don’t get frustrated by her whiny voice. There are many elements that just don’t make sense and some of the relationships felt extremely contrived. The twist was different than what I was expecting and is why I gave this book 2.5 stars vs. the initial 2 I was planning on. I think this would have been a whole heck of a lot more interesting if it was told through Pammie’s eyes. Now that would have been a truly twisted read!

I actually finished this a couple of days ago, but I’ve been sitting here wondering what I can say other than WOW. This was completely unexpected in the best way possible. You’ll want to go in blind people, as it reads best knowing nothing ahead of time, but all I can say for now is you definitely want to add this to your reading list for 2018! 😱😱😱 Fans of twisty, tense, psychological suspense (see what I did there?!) will eat this one up! Absolutely floored that this is a debut!

Holy Crap!!! What did I just read!?! I DID not see that ending coming - not at all!!!
Emily has finally met the perfect man. Adam is caring, attentive, and loving. After a heart-breaking betrayal and breakup and after a few years of dates that led nowhere, Emily has finally found the one. The only downside - he seems to be unnaturally close to his Mother, Pammie.
His super closeness to his mother might be easy to overlook if Pammie was not quite so despicable and hell bent on ruining their relationship. It appears as if Pammie wants Emily gone from her son's life and is willing to lie, scheme, and manipulate to get what she wants. Adam is oblivious to his mother's antics. He defends his Mother and often blames Emily for the rift and distance between the two women.
Holy Hell! Talk about a book with a shocking ending. As I stated, I did not see that one coming. I was SHOCKED and loved every second of it. I am so happy there were no spoilers out there. I love when a book can leave me sitting there with my mouth hanging open. That is exactly what this book did!
The characters in this book are fantastic, some you will love to hate and there are some you will love. I love when an Author can pull of characters that readers love to hate. I think that is a gift and, in this book, made the book even more enjoyable. Talking about enjoyable, I enjoyed this book from beginning to end but that ending.... Read and find out! Other reviewers are recommending going into this book blind with only the brief synopsis to light your way. I agree with this approach.
It is very safe to say that I will be eagerly reading more of this Author in the future!

I admit it, this book took me forever to finish! Never a good sign. The plot is fine, but the characters are so trite and stereotyped and I WAS SO BORED. You guys know I'm not a fan of the helpless, hand wringing "heroine" and yep, that's what we have in our girl, Emily. C'mon, Emily!! Wake up and smell the coffee! That family you are about to marry into? They are so SHADY! Run for the hills!
There is a character you will love to hate in the form of future mother-in-law, Pammie. Pammie's personality almost makes up for the lackluster story and I did enjoy her part very much.
Seriously, I can't think of anything else to tell you about THE OTHER WOMAN. It reads like chick-lit NOT "an addictive, fast-paced psychological thriller" as in the description. 4.5 stars - Buddy read with Holly B!
I would just like to state for the record that I officially read too many psychological thrillers and my inner detective will not go away - once again I had it figured out early on so I have to say, I can’t rate thrillers anymore based on the twist. I am unfortunately bound to figure it out😩 (someone please stump me!!). So based on this one, I have to say it was crazy well done (emphasis on the crazy!) in general.
I love love loved to hate these characters - they are nutty in the best way possible. They were truly driving Holly and myself bananas the whole read, and that is the best kind of character for me. If you can create a vivid response from me, whether positive or negative, then job well done!
This one had lightning speed pacing which was FANTASTIC and kept the pages turning. The problem when this happens is that you only scratch the surface with character development, but I didn’t even care and it worked really well here.

Cliche' after cliche', contradiction after contradiction, eye roll after eye roll....
The whole premise was just too absurd for me to take seriously.
Others have had much better luck with this though, so what the heck do I know?

This has a twisty plot and is an addictive page turner with a quirky cast of characters….
Enter Pammie - Controlling mother like no other! A bit of advice to Emily (her soon to be daughter in law), pack your bags and RUN.
Unfortunately, Emily is one of those friends who won’t listen to anyone because she knows best. She loves Adam with all her heart and won’t allow anyone to come between them (so she thinks anyway).
Can I just say…the war is on and Pammie doesn’t like to lose.

At long last, Emily has finally found the man of her dreams...Adam. Just one itsy-bitsy problem. Marrying Adam also means marrying the other woman in his life.... his mother!!
Pamela (Pammie), the soon to be mother-in-law is going to do whatever it takes to drive a permanent wedge between her darling sonny boy and his soon to be wife.
Or even better, if she can pull it off, get Emily out of the picture…permanently!
Wow! I’ve heard of some awful mother in laws but this one really took the cake. She makes the average MIL look like an angel in training! Caution. Be prepared for some unbelievably over the top behavior!
Poor Emily. Will she be able to open her fiancés eyes before it’s too late? There’s only room for one woman in Adam’s life...but who exactly will that be? You’ll just have to read it to find out!
Fast-paced with short chapters will keep you blazing through the pages just to see how far Pamela will go to stop the wedding!
Once again I found myself screaming at Emily to just leave Adam! No man is worth that! If this is the behavior before the wedding...well, can you even imagine?

Hand on the doorknob......
Creaking hinges as a shaft of light appears revealing heavy cobwebs.
And you.....you will be whispering hoarsely to Emily to slam that stinkin' door and book a flight to Poughkeepsie..... one way.
You see, Emily has met someone. She's a hard working top consultant at Faulkner's in London. Her fellow associates are taking a break during a meeting at a local pub. Emily is parched and works her way over to the bar for a glass of wine. She finds herself bantering back and forth with a tall handsome man named Adam. The conversation flows easily and they exchange cards.
Emily and Adam soon become an item. Before long, Adam brings Emily home to meet his mother. Dearest Pammie is like the sound of someone cracking their knuckles in your ear......non-stop and at a rapid rate. Pammie will set roadblocks left and right for Emily like buried landmines......all calculated precisely for Emily's dainty foot to set off. Ol' Pammie flies circles on a broom around her son, Adam. Emily will never be good enough for the likes of Adam......ever.
Sandie Jones has set up the character of Pammie so wickedly that you will wince every time she enters the room. Truth be told, there will be times throughout the storyline when you will shake your head in dismay at the questionable persistence of our girl Emily. Like the popular movie, you'll shout: "GET OUT!" Frankly, she won't hear you.
The Other Woman is the kind of read that flashes escapism......yours and not Emily's. It's a fun book that will bring you out of your doldrums and will keep you turning pages until the end. And the ending will crick your neck in a different direction like the expertise of a talented chiropractor. Quite the unexpected leap, Ms. Jones.

Emily was content with life. Her job was going well and she had some great friends. She wasn't even looking for a boyfriend. But then she met Adam, the man of her dreams.
Soon she's seeing Adam almost every night. Her friends wonder if she's moving too fast and are also a little miffed because they feel like they never see her anymore. But she's never felt this way before. Adam makes her feel safe. But after they've been dating for a while, she starts to wonder why he hasn't introduced her to his mother. He seems hesitant about them meeting each other.
When he finally decides to take her to meet his mother, Emily is beyond nervous. She spends a lot of time trying to make herself look perfect. "I'd done less preparation for a good friend's wedding". Her friend tells Emily that Adam's mom will love her.
On their way to meet his mother, Emily asks about his mother and he states that she's like any other mother, that she's a good woman. When Emily makes a rather innocent joke, Emily is shocked at how angry Adam gets. He feels her joke is disrespectful to his mother. They head on to visit his mom, Pammie. Some strange things happen during that first visit to his mother's house, but Emily chalks it all up to nerves and tells herself she's over analyzing things.
But it's their next visit when Emily realizes that while Adam may be the man of her dreams, Emily is also in for a nightmare...and that nightmare is Adam's mother, Pammie.
I loved the cover of this novel and was really intrigued by the book's description. I was excited to start reading.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel but there were times I found myself getting annoyed with some of the actions of the characters and the situations they were in. I know that's rather vague, but I don't want to ruin anything. At the same time, I still found the story intriguing and wanted to keep reading.
"The Other Woman" was an impressive debut novel. It was twisted and suspenseful, with characters that readers will love to hate and an ending that many won't see coming.
I am looking forward to seeing what Sandie Jones writes next.

4.5 Marvelously Manipulative Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
WOW! HOT damn! Another Flippin fantastic read! With an ending that left me speechless... and anyone that knows me knows how difficult that is! This is a book best gone into blind... I’d recommend reading very few reviews, but read mind of course!😉
What do you do when the “other woman“ is your significant other’s mother? And to clarify what I mean by this is your S/O is overly emotionally tied to his mother.... I mean like he drop everything to go buy her some Tylenol, if she felt a headache coming on, and he deliver it to her even though she lives an hour away and it’s two in the morning.... And even worse what if she is a controlling, manipulative, and condescending mother? Ugh just the thought of it makes me quiver, can’t even imagine! But boy oh boy did it make for a good book... I was completely invested in the story from first page to last....
Emily thinks she has met the man of her dreams... the one... her forever... and everything is going perfectly until.... she meets... Pammie *insert scary music* Pammie was a fabulous character that you loved loved loved to hate... Emily was a really relatable and likable character, all she wanted to do was find love... and then her life got turned on its head, by this crazy lady... not sure if her boyfriend Adam was worth all this angst... but sometimes we can get fixated and not see the forest for the trees...
For me this was just an entertaining compelling character study with just the perfect dose of crazy... with a stand out villain and a bit of a helpless heroine, Who eventually finds her strength! I loved every single interaction between these ladies, I was riveted! And I loved hating Pammie right along with Emily! I seriously was talking to the book throughout, I might’ve said a few choice words🤬
What a wonderful debut! Major props to Sandie Jones and I cannot wait to see what you have in store for me next! Absolutely recommend if you enjoy a good character driven thriller with a heck of an ending!

For me this was just an entertaining compelling character study with just the perfect dose of crazy... with a stand out villain and a bit of a helpless heroine, Who eventually finds her strength! I loved every single interaction between these ladies, I was riveted! And I loved hating Pammie right along with Emily! I seriously was talking to the book throughout, I might’ve said a few choice words🤬
What a wonderful debut! Major props to Sandie Jones and I cannot wait to see what you have in store for me next! Absolutely recommend if you enjoy a good character driven thriller with a heck of an ending!

Emily meets Adam and thinks she's met the man she wants to live with forever. But once Emily meets Adam's mom, Pammie, Emily realizes that Pammie wants Emily out of Adam's life. Emily is determined not to let Pammie win this battle for Adam. At the same time, while Pammie is trying to undermine everything that Emily is, Adam will hear nothing said against his mom. As the battle between Emily and Pammie heats up, Adam's anger issues become apparent and he begin drinking more.
Emily has no idea why Pammie would hate her and want to drive her and Adam apart. Adam is no help when Emily tries to discuss the matter with him since he thinks Emily is imagining anything Pammie may have done wrong. And then there is James, Adams brother, who seems to have fallen for Emily and also wants to drive Adam and Emily apart.
This is such an addictive psychological mystery and I wanted to find out what was behind the strange behavior of the Banks family. Pammie's two boys are so devoted to her and don't see or hear the unkind things that Pammie does to Emily. All this just makes Emily want to dig in her heels more and make Pammie realize that she can't take Adam from her.
That reason I gave this book 4 stars, rather than 5, is that red flags, as big as a barn, are slapping Emily in the face, concerning the actions of Adam and Pammie. Emily seems to hang on to her first impressions of Adam, without giving consideration to how he changes over time, and the fact that Adam gives no weight to her thoughts or feelings. Add that to his scheming and cruel mom and I can't see why she was willing to fight for a relationship that seemed not worth the time and effort. But I'm not Emily, so I set aside those thoughts and just enjoyed the book for the psychological thriller it is, all the way through the twist ending.

"The Other Woman is an addictive, fast-paced psychological thriller"
No, no it's not! Nothing was fast-paced and it surely wasn't a thriller. It was just a story about three crazy people and I honestly can't say who annoyed me the most. Every other chapter I just rolled my eyes, I was bored and everything felt like a damn cliché. The last few chapters - just no!
Overall I didn't care for any of them and lately I just can't catch a break with these "psychological thrillers"

Interesting plot. Suspenseful intrigue. Unforgettable characters.
This story follows Emily, who has met handsome and successful Adam, the man of her dreams. They fall in love and are engaged within months. Things begin to drastically change when Emily meets her future mother-in-law, Pammie. Pammie is a character I will not soon forget! I’m so glad that my mother-in-law is nothing like her!
This book is intense and will keep you flipping the pages. There were many moments I found my mouth dropping in wonder of what was going to happen next. However, there were also several times I felt the plot steered into highly implausible territory. Some of what happened was just “too much” for me to believe. Regardless of this, I still found the story entertaining and well written, just not the gripping thriller I was hoping for.
I applaud the author, Sandie Jones, for this debut. The novel had a good pace and the story flowed well. The characters were unique, although mostly unlikeable. I did have a hard time connecting to any of the characters – for me, they were entertaining, but unrealistic.

This book was not at all what I expected. It is described as an “addicting and gripping thriller,” but it read more like a Lifetime movie to me. I was so bored. I didn’t enjoy a single character in this book, especially the protagonist Emily. Wow did she annoy me. If you like reading about weak, helpless females with absolutely zero sense of empowerment, this is the book for you! I honestly felt myself rolling my eyes 90% of the time I was reading this. The end felt sloppy and rushed, and the ‘twist’ was not shocking in the least. Overall, it just wasn’t great and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Well... 😮 I can honestly say, I didn’t see that ending coming. 🤭 This started pretty typical, girl meets boy, love with all the trimmings. But his mom... wowza.... 😳 While I shook my head at a lot of the things- I was left wondering how often does this happen? The mother in law to be trying to sabotage the relationship.... this was definitely a physiological thriller that will get your blood boiling. 🤣😂

This starts off as a bit of a swarmy romance and I really debated whether to continue. It takes a while for it to get creepy. But once Pammie arrives on the scene, it gets interesting.
Now, I have to say, If I had been Emily, I would have run away from Adam screaming because it was obvious that his mother comes first in his heart. And that would be a problem regardless. I kept wondering if I was in my 20s and unmarried would I have been more willing to try to make the relationship work, like Emily was.
But Emily being a bit naive about how this is all going to work out does make for a good story and one that moves along at a brisk pace. It’s like watching a horror story where Pammie is the monster.
Now, I’m not sure if it’s me but while the book clearly claims that Pammie is 63, she’s painted as behaving much older. Or is it that I’m 63 and I’m hoping young people don’t think of me as acting that old?
While I was often able to tell exactly where the plot was going, there were a few unforeseen twists. Unfortunately, the ending wasn’t one of them. I saw that one coming. Despite that, I did enjoy this book.
I listened to this and it was a great audiobook.

This book was a fun, crazy, and at times maddening trip! Emily is dating Adam and things are going great until she meets his mother, Pammie. It seems like Pammie will stop at nothing to keep the two of them apart.
I felt such anxiety when reading this one because it plays on one of my fears which is the mother in law from hell. I actually have a nice, normal mother in law but I guess knowing I was lucky and dodged a bullet there makes these type of stories just freak me out more than reading a novel about a serial killer. But even though I felt on edge throughout the book it still was a fun type feeling you get when you can't wait to find out what happens next.
I wouldn't say anything was really groundbreaking with the plot but it didn't matter because you feel so invested in the storyline and wanting everyone to catch on to Pammie. One criticism I have of the book is I don't think enough time was spent developing Adam and Emily's relationship so it was obvious why Emily wouldn't run for the hills after getting to know his mother. However, the pacing of the book is excellent so maybe going into so much detail would have hampered it as this makes a much better suspense read than one that drags on and on.
This isn't a perfect read but it is so entertaining and will probably be one of the hits of the summer/fall so I definitely recommend checking it out!

I was worried this book would not live up to the hype, but am am happy I was wrong. The Other Woman is a clever page-turner and the ending delivered a twist I did not see coming! I did have trouble understanding why Emily stayed with Adam in light of all the trouble the relationship was causing, her (not spoiler, don't worry!), but other than that, I really enjoyed this book. I won't go too much into the plot, because I really don't want to reveal anything that would spoil it, all I will say is that it held my rapt attention from start to finish. I am impressed it is the author's debut and look forward to her next one!

For most of this novel, I thought of it as being a solid, stress-inducing book—in a good way. I like books that have a twist, unfortunately, the twist at the end of this one didn’t ring true to me.
I liked Emily, and disliked Pammie so much, that I found this to be an absolute page turner, hoping that somehow things would work out for Emily.
Emily meets handsome Adam at a bar during a conference. Sparks fly, and though they’ve only been dating a short time, when you know, you know. Right? Until he introduces her to his mother Pammie, who, very subtly, tries to destroy Emily’s relationship with her son. Adam thinks that Emily is being petty when she tries to point out the ways his mom hurts her. He doesn’t see the secret machinations of his mother.
That's all I can say so as not to ruin anything. Thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

Here we have a love triangle of a different sort. That of a mother, a son, and his soon to be fiance. Yet love is not really a word I would use in this particular scenario. Because mother, Pammie, despises her son Adam's fiance, Emily, and she will stop at nothing to keep the two apart.
I need to give Sandie Jones credit in creating a wicked villain in Pammie. She is the reason why I continued to flip the pages. Every word that came from her mouth made me seethe with fury. Initially my heart broke for Emily and I wanted her to succeed in outwitting Pammie but as the story progressed I started to find Emily just down right pathetic. Adam, of course, believes his mother is a saint and that Emily is the one causing the rift in the relationship.
There were just SOOOOO many opportunities for Emily to prove to Adam how malicious a woman his mother could be but she just chose not to in fear of upsetting him? Really? I would of kicked this mamma's boy to the curb well before this. Especially when the things she knew were just little things like, oh you know, Minor details nothing to bother him with. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I really wanted to smack some sense into her.
All in all it was a decent read that I enjoyed and it was nice entertainment for a couple days. 3.5 stars!

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is another of those books that make me crave popcorn once I pick them up and start reading. It’s the type of story that early on you get the entire general idea of what will happen but still fun to sit back and wait for the fireworks and enjoy the show along the way.
Emily has come out of a relationship where she caught her boyfriend cheating with a good friend of hers so she’s a bit hesitant to get back in the game until she meets Adam. The more Emily gets to know Adam the more she thinks he’s absolutely perfect for her, that is until he brings her home to meet his mother.
On the surface Emily’s first meeting with Pammie goes well but for Emily the doubts begin to creep in after that meeting. While Pammie appears to be friendly and welcoming little things she does or say seem to get the best of Emily but Emily is not willing to give up her love for Adam despite his mother.
The story inside of The Other Woman is not a new one but it’s one that has managed to grab my attention time and time again. The good old ‘evil mother in law to be’ trope did manage to entertain me until the very end again this time and oh what an ending it was. Emily and Pammie made such an entertaining pair this go round that I flew right through the book and would certainly recommend this to those that enjoy a good old fashioned drama filled suspenseful ride.

The cover states it perfectly: He loves me. She loves me not. These two short and simple sentences could be uttered by either of the women depicted in this tightly wound tale.
This suspenseful read will have you questioning just who the villain is. Is Pammie truly a vindictive mother-in-law or is Emily an unreliable narrator? Throughout the book, I alternately found myself siding with each woman. Pammie could be ice cold, but there were also times where Emily seemed to be blowing things out of proportion.
I found the female characters to be well developed, but the male characters slightly less so. I never saw the big appeal of Adam and didn’t find myself really believing their love story, but I certainly believed in it more than

This book is literally so good. Oh my god, that ENDING? I was not expecting all that. Basically, I could not put this book down. My attention was kept the entire time, and the story was very fast-paced and alluring. I was incredibly invested. A real page-turner. This book is deceitful and suspenseful and maddening and surprising all at once, and I demand that you read it right now.

Emily had previously been in a relationship where she has lost her main squeeze to her best friend having come upon them in what might be classified as a compromising position. Devastated Emily, finds eventually a man who she think is her perfect man, Adam. He is loving, generous, kind, handsome, and wealthy. He is a wonderful package all tied up perfectly and love blooms ever so quickly. Their romance takes off and soon it is time for Emily to meet Adam's mother, Pammie. ...and wow! the sparks start to fly as Pammie who is a master manipulator, twists words and actions to make it appear that Emily is always in the wrong. Adam and his brother dote on mommie dearest and turn a very deaf ear to Emily's protestations. This is a real recipe for disaster as Pammie does what she does so well, manipulates and plays a merciless and exploitative game with Emily. Will this relationship and future marriage have this couple even getting to the altar? Would you stay with a man who always seems to take his mother's side?
Ms Jones takes us on a wild ride with these characters, making those of us who ever had nasty mother in laws cheer Emily on. We think we know the inner workings of Pammie. We have met her type before. We know she thinks that her son is perfect and that no woman alive will ever be good enough. However, there is a major twist in he road and as they author weaves all of this together, we are hit with a surprise as all is revealed and as often is the case all is not as it seems.
I enjoyed this tale of manipulation and exploration of a mother son relationship oftentimes wishing I could help Emily have Pammie take a very long walk off a very short pier.

Remember…when you choose to marry the man, you are also marrying the family.
Emily is looking forward to meeting Adam’s mum, Pammie. But from the very first meeting, she has to wonder if Pammie was really looking forward to meeting her. As she retrieves tea, Pammie purposely leaves open her photo album, with a picture of Adam and another smiling woman staring up from the pages. The caption underneath the photo reads: Darling Rebecca-miss you every day.
Who is Rebecca? What happened to her? Is she the reason that Pammie is not embracing her son’s new girlfriend?
Although I liked the premise, the first half of the book was very slow moving. It read more like chick lit than a psychological thriller. If I had not made a commitment to read and review, I probably would not have finished.
Emily wrinkled her nose at least 5 times, eyes twinkled, brains whirred, people tutted...it was hard to get caught up in a story that did not sound authentic.
Conversations in the story which made the characters giggle uncontrollably, did not even make me smile.
I could not understand why or how Emily fell for Adam, or vice versa, as the characters seemed immature and their relationship based completely on sex.
Perhaps if this book is marketed differently, it will find its correct audience. Readers who enjoy chick lit or perhaps domestic drama may enjoy this story. It does have a twist in the last 25% of the book, but that is the only section that perhaps weakly resembles a psychological thriller at all, and the explanation for all that happened was a hard sell for me.
Clearly though, so far, I am in the minority, as the other reviewers have enjoyed this much more than I did.

I could not understand why or how Emily fell for Adam, or vice versa, as the characters seemed immature and their relationship based completely on sex.
Perhaps if this book is marketed differently, it will find its correct audience. Readers who enjoy chick lit or perhaps domestic drama may enjoy this story. It does have a twist in the last 25% of the book, but that is the only section that perhaps weakly resembles a psychological thriller at all, and the explanation for all that happened was a hard sell for me.
Clearly though, so far, I am in the minority, as the other reviewers have enjoyed this much more than I did.

I was hooked from the start! Very entertaining even if it dragged a bit toward the end (nothing boring, just a bit repetitive). I'm sorry to say I saw the big twist coming, but it was a great one despite that!
4.5 stars because it achieved to keep me enthralled and made me feel many emotions!

When Emily meets Adam she immediately knows that she wants to snatch him up and she does exactly that. Emily however, has no idea that Adam is a mama's boy. From the get go, his mother Pammie is not a fan of Em’s and she appears to have it in for her - in the biggest way possible: by lying, tricking her and making her look as bad as possible in front of her son in hopes that he’ll break it off. The lengths this woman goes to.. talk about hella entertaining. Adam of course, doesn’t see any of it and is uber protective of dear old Pammie.
Mama always wins in a head to head, shame on you for thinking otherwise Emily.. then again a girl’s got to try, right?
“The Other Woman” by Sandie Jones is a campy entertaining mystery/suspense. It reminded me of The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances which I read last year - though I preferred this. I really enjoyed where “The Other Woman” was going, right up until the end where I felt kind of bamboozled. The ending snuck up on me - there were no bread crumbs to lead me there… and for that I was a bit frustrated. Personally, I like having an idea of where a storyline is going - that didn’t happen in this instance, which I found disappointing. Though parts of the novel were a bit unbelievable, it was an enjoyable read which I would recommend.

This is a very good debut novel by author Sandie Jones that makes me eagerly anticipate further books from this new thriller writer.
Emily falls in love with Adam and there is no doubt in her mind that she has found her true love. But circumstances change when she encounters the other woman, Pammie. Pammie is Adam's mother and seems to be on a mission to keep them apart, but how far will she go to succeed.
This psychological thriller is full of good characters and I found it compelling with its well paced plot that kept me wanting to find out more.

The Other Woman is a thrilling ride to the say the least that Sandie Jones takes us on!
So.. have to be honest I really struggled with rating this one. Did this novel keep me on the edge of my toes and give me one hell of a ride?! Heck yes.. but on the other hand this is a plot that we have seen before.
My mind kept going back and forth to The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances. This is a very similar plot line as this story but Sandie takes a slightly different right turn on this drive....
I was fully engaged in this story but there was so many unanswered questions that I had in my mind upon finishing this. Some of it just didn't make sense to me? I sat on this over night and I just was slightly annoyed with my perturbing questions lol... which caused me to rate this one a tad lower.
Let's meet Emily. She's a successful business woman who meets Adam at a bar one night. Adam and Emily's relationship takes off like a rocket. Emily soon is introduced to Adam's mother Pammie. Pammie is like nails on a chalkboard... until the death of you.. literally.
Pammie to say the least has zero LOVE for Emily... setting traps at every moment she can in order for Emily to struggle with her relationship with Adam. But, what is truly going on behind doors between Adam and Emily? Is their relationship is as it seems? Why, does Pammie hate Emily so much?
The Other Woman is a novel that will keep you turning those pages until the very end. Questions will keep haunting you until you can get your fingers on those answers my friends!
I do have to say Sandie takes one hell of a unexpected turn with this ending that some of you will have your jaw fully glued to the floor.
Overall, 3.5 stars on this one for me.
