I like how the majority of these are Rapunzel settling into life after the tower and just how hard it is for her but also how she rises to the challenge and even changes a few things to fit her.

The adaption of “Before Ever After” (the TV series’ pilot movie) isn’t the greatest, but it does boil the whole thing down to the extreme basics so you get the gist without having to watch the film, even though I’m personally just meh about it. The others are good or just okay (though why is Rapunzel putting on a SHOE of all things in the one panel in “Hair Today”?!), but the one I want to talk about is both my favorite and least favorite of the whole book, “A Hero’s Reputation.”

What I like about it is Eugene’s arc of feeling less then and trying to prove himself, as this fits with the struggle he has throughout the whole series of being insecure in who he is now and where exactly he fits in along with trying to get others to take him seriously—this was all handled really well and I liked that part. HOWEVER, this never in any way shape or form ever applied to Rapunzel—Eugene is always the most secure and himself without any reservations around her and only tried to prove himself to others like the king or Cassandra—which is where this comic goes sour, as the whole time he’s trying to prove himself to RAPUNZEL which he would never ever do! So while I like it, I also hate it because that fundamental key point of their relationship is basically vandalized. The story still could have worked if Eugene had been trying to prove himself to the king in some way and things just didn’t go right, like in Season One’s episode “In Like Flynn,” but by putting Eugene and Rapunzel at odds like this in ways their characters would never react it just doesn’t work.

Not my favorite of the TV series comics but not bad either.

‼️Content‼️

Language: holy hair; oh my gosh; what the heck

Violence: fighting with weapons and hair (G); a character’s nearly stabbed by a broken lance; characters nearly fall off a building; a character is nearly trampled by a horse; magical rocks chase characters; a bunny falls into a dried up well

Sexual: a couple kisses

Drug/Alcohol: a character is a little tipsy

Other: magic; magical objects

A sort of baby step into my non-existent knowledge of graphic novels. I think Disney's Rapunzel is a super-cool character, as far as the Disney universe goes. She thinks for herself, is quirky, loves adventure. And somehow she manages to carry around a metric ton of blonde hair that grows out of her head.

I acquired this little book via my daughter's Scholastic book fair. Not being 8 yet, she doesn't talk much about what she likes to read. Who can force a child to read? She prefers youtube. So now I need to prevent our whole household from a decade of bad decisions inspired by youtube. I need to read children's books now to find the "good" stuff that I might be able to recommend to an easily bored child.

The illustrations of this book are so pretty! But what's the deal with graphic novels? The action happens all over the page. It's not a simple left-to-right flow. Readers need to slow down to make sure we don't miss any details I guess.

Augh! But why is the print so tiny? My eyes can barely handle it. Also the stories in this one are too short. Immediately when I start to figure out what's happening, it's over.

All of these were really cute and in line with the series, with the exception of "A Hero's Reputation." That one felt so out of character and annoyed me so much that I took a full star off of the rating.

I adored the Tangled movie, so for it to also have a graphic novel series with events that happen after the movie is so adorable! It's a very short read. The drawing style is beautiful and the transitions in between dialogues and character point of views are done very creatively!

I work with a kid who is obsessed with Rapunzel, so I picked this up from the library to look through with her. She loved all of the pictures and epic situations.

My knowledge of the show is pretty limited. I've seen the movie and a few episodes of the show when it first came out, but that's about it. You don't really need to know much about the storyline to enjoy this book. It is cute, funny, and engaging without a lot of background knowledge.

The artwork is nice and, while the one-page layout stories are interesting, I especially liked the longer stories. "A Hero's Reputation" was my absolute favorite.

Not sure if these follow corresponding episodes or not, but it was a fun read nonetheless.

The art and the panneling are great, and there are many cute aspects and stories in this collection.

HOWEVER, the collection makes two cardinal mistakes:
- in one story, Rapunzel puts on SHOES (She won't put on shoes even for events; she did that once in "Tangled Before Ever After" and never again. The last time she wore any shoes (Season 1, "Painter's Block"), she had child-friendly depression!)
- Eugene would NEVER feel humiliated or embarrassed by getting saved by Rapunzel! (this is especially jarring because he was perfectly fine getting saved by her in a preceding story)

The stories were fine, but the layout of the pages was beautiful and creative! For example, one page with Rapunzel and Eugene arguing was formatted so the panels were shaped into their figures.
Some pages had boarders of her hair or other creative shapes to the panels reflecting more to the story. It really was gorgeous. Made it more enjoyable to read.

Super cute! I loved how the first comic in the bind up was the first episode of the series but in comic form. The other comics included in this bind up were super cute and I absolutely love the art and how true it was to the tv series.

This was a very fun comic to read. It's been a very long time since I've seen the movie and series, so I really liked to go back to it. I love the art style a lot, and it's really cool how the panels keep changing to fit the story.

Super cute little comic based on the tv series! Couple little stories in there that weren’t on the show.

Delightful as usual but loses a point since the stories really rush along way too fast. Especially the first one where an hour-long movie is condensed in just about 2 dozen pages.

The first story in this collect of comics is just a rehash of Before Ever After. The rest are fairly short and I wish they were longer. It's a nice read but it doesn't really add much to the world of Rapunzel like I thought it would.

Tangled The Series is far better than anyone would expect it to be, and these companion graphic novels are just the thing to tide you over between episodes.😊
