Mated to the Storm Dragon is a sizzling hot, standalone BBW dragon shifter romance. No cliffhangers!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
This felt like reading the long outline of a book rather than a finished product. There is no background, no character development, the plot is thin and resolved far too easily, and most of the secondary characters served no purpose.
The only thing that worked for me is the way the fated mates did not fight against their bond or try to ignore it. They both felt it right off the bat, even though the human h didn't know why, and accepted it. She felt just as protective and possessive of the dragon H as he did of her, and in my mind that is the way a fated mate story should work -- conflicts should come from outside the relationship, not the couple themselves if they are truly fated.
The bare bones of a decent book are here. The author needs to spend a lot more time developing it and adding layers. In the end, I know more about what the H's hometown looks like than I know about any other aspect of the story.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, and no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have bought this book because I loved it, and I own most of Zoe’s books!
This cover is awesome like all of Zoe’s book!
I can’t even tell you how much Zoe’s books bring me happiness when I read them. She always has a beautiful story that makes me truly happy to read. She has a knack for getting the picture mixture of action, treachery, drama, and romance in her books. She never leaves you hanging, and each one is an HEA that makes my heart happy.
This is a story about Naomi who is an artist who is trying to make ends meet, and she feels lost and defeated because things haven’t gone the way she imagined they would. Gregory wants to know how an artist painted him and has bought the painting. When they meet, it is like magic, but chaos ensues quickly which leads to quite an adventure for all involved. I won’t say anymore because you need to read it for yourself.
I highly recommend to all paranormal fans who want a feel-good shifter romance that leaves you happy with an HEA! I can’t wait to see what comes next from Zoe!
Great story, fantastic writing and excellent world building. I would absolutely recommend to paranormal romance readers looking for a short escape from the world. Brilliant!
SPARKS FLY IN THIS TOTALLY ELECTRIFYING READ !!! Title: Mated To the Storm Dragon Author: Zoe Chant Designation: Paranormal/Fantasy Romance, Novella, No Cliffhanger Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars**** I've been a loyal Zoe Chant fan for several years and love everything she writes - and Mated to the Storm Dragon is no exception! Zoe Chant is one of the few authors I trust implicitly to deliver a great read every single time. Usually, I never even bother to read the blurb for the story; I simply one-click every time she has a new release. I immediately know I'm guaranteed a compelling storyline filled with colorful characters, pulse-pounding adventure, heart-stopping danger, agonizing drama, nail-biting suspense, steamy passion, and dreamy romance. And Zoe Chant delivers every single time! That in itself is quite a recommendation!
Mated to the Storm Dragon is a riveting, well-crafted, well-edited, fast-paced, easy-to-follow paranormal/fantasy romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with clearly discernible his and her perspectives. The dialogue is well-executed and flows effortlessly. But without a doubt, my favorite component of every Chant book is the cast of unique, well-developed, and engaging characters. Dragon shifters have always been my favorite so, naturally, I was immediately smitten with our wealthy reclusive protagonist, dragon shifter Gregory Drago, Master of Wind and Air, and Lord of the Council of Elements. What's not to love about a dragon, right? They're hunky, handsome and panty-melting hot! Of course, it doesn't hurt they're always loaded with hoards of treasure and more gold than Fort Knox, plus they never shed which means no allergies! And last but not least, they can also keep you toasty warm and fly you around the world without having to break the bank for airfare! Sounds like the ideal guy to me! lol... And Gregory Drago is just dreamy. Sigh.... The female protagonist of the story, Naomi Edwardson, is a breath of fresh air. Beautiful, kind-hearted and somewhat timid Naomi is a talented but down on her luck artist who's only a few days away from losing everything. She's in desperate need of money and has only one painting left to sell, an unusual depiction of a dragon inspired by a vision during a night of impassioned creativity she's never been able to recreate. Unfortunately, it's also one she never wanted to sell. Surprisingly, she's offered a substantial sum for her painting by a wealthy, mysterious and very reclusive art collector, Gregory Drago, but the offer comes with an unusual condition. He will only agree to buy her painting if she meets with him in person. When these two meet, their attraction is undeniable with a connection nothing short of magical! But Naomi is not only a human who has no idea dragons actually exist, she's also Gregory's mate, the one treasure he can't live without - literally! Sparks fly! Passion flares! Love blooms? Not quite! Gregory does manage to steal a soul-searing kiss in a closet at the gallery, but Naomi is kidnapped before Gregory can seal the deal! Wait - what? Yup, Naomi is snatched right out from under his nose - by a supposedly extinct fire dragon! Oh my! What's a storm dragon to do? We'll see!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! I can't quite put my finger on it, but this book seemed different than Chant's usual fare, not in a bad way but just not the same. I'm not exactly sure how to explain it. It had all the elements to make a great story but with a different vibe. There were darker undertones in this book and not as much lighthearted humor. But I still enjoyed this story and liked that Chant changed things up. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy dreamy love scenes. Will I read this author again? Absolutely, just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Naomi is struggling with finances, her job, her life! Naomi is an artidt, but with everything else dragging her down and no money to buy supplies, she hasn't painted anything or even has inspiration to paint anything in months. One day months ago Naomi painted a dragon in a storm that felt like the inspiration came strait from her sole, but the art gallery said it would sell because "dragons aren't art". The curator is a friend, so he put it in the exhibit for Naomi as a favor. Naomi never would have believed what that painting was going to bring her way. Adult readers only due to explicit sexual content. I like the world building of Mountain View, it sounds beautiful. I like the idea of all the shifters living in harmony and even having a sheriff to make sure. This has action, adventure and romance. A great start for a new series.
He's at the end of time to find a mate but he finds her the artist of his heart. A start of a new dragon series looking forward to reading the next book
As I'd started to get into the Firefighter series by the time I finished the last one I thought I'd give some of the others by Zoe Chant a look, but I found this one a little too mediocre for my taste. It had potential, I just felt like it fell short.
I read this book as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (free book but I have to pay £7.99 a month for the subscription)
Mated to the Storm Dragon is a powerful story that if it isn’t the beginning of a “some day” series… then it should be. Filled with secondary characters that I definitely want to learn more about, an intriguing dragon council and a small shifter town high in the mountains that just begs to have stories told about it. So, yeah, you could say that this story captured my imagination and then some.
Gregory has reached the stage of his life where if he doesn’t soon find his mate he will face madness… and being put down by the dragon council. Not a pleasant prospect. Now he’s been brought before them to answer for crimes he has not committed, but he is the only logical dragon that it could have been since one of those crimes was allowing his image to be painted on canvas… by a human. He needs answers fast but never expected to find his mate at the end of this journey or an enemy thought to have been vanquished forever.
Naomi is at the end of her rope. Forced to finally sell a painting that she’d poured her heart into she’s hoping for enough cash to make the rent and survive just a bit longer. Her lost dream of making a living through her paintings turned out to be just that, a dream. But this storm dragon painting was so unlike her other work, almost as though the dragon on the canvas had called specifically to her. One meeting with the buyer was all it took to believe in love at first sight – and the reality of dragons. Naomi is in dire danger, Gregory is the only one who could possibly save her and in the saving find all the answers they’d ever had about finding that one perfect person for them… be it human or dragon.
Fast paced action, likable characters and the possibilities that could come from this one story made this a story that I devoured. Sometimes a story simply speaks to us, and Mated to the Storm Dragon said everything perfectly. I truly do hope that there are more stories planned one day with this group of shifters, they are intriguing, interesting and leap off the page.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Naomi is a down on her luck, starving artist. Her financial situation is so dire that she’s forced to sell her most prized possession. A painting of a dragon. An air dragon to be exact, but she doesn’t know that. Gregory Draco is the dragon and he cannot figure out how he came to be painted in his dragon form. He has been ordered by the council to obtain that painting, no matter the cost. This is the story of their journey from strangers to mates.
This book was so satisfying, on every level. First off, let’s discuss the MFC. I really hate when I would otherwise like a book but I cannot stomach the MFC. That is definitely not the case here. While Naomi is down on her luck, she’s no shrinking violet. She displays a lot of spunk, and I really like her. I particularly loved that she didn’t have a meltdown when she discovered that dragons are real and that the billionaire that wants to buy her painting is one! Sure it took her completely by surprise, but she seem to take it all in stride and settled in perfectly as Gregory’s mate.
World building seemed to be complete to me. While we were introduced to the other elemental dragons, we weren’t given much more than their element and a brief description. I’m sure those characters will get fleshed out in their own stories. In this story, I felt well acquainted with Gregory and his world. The descriptions of his home, Mountain View, were detailed enough that I could definitely imagine what it looked and smelled like.
Naomi Edwardson, a struggling artist who had to give up on her dreams and worked two jobs just to make ends meet. One day she got a life changing offer for one of her paintings. But she would have to meet the mysterious buyer in person.
Gregory Drago was a Dragon shifter who didn't have much time left. If he didn't find a mate soon, he would lose control over his dragon's power. Coincidentally one day he found a painting of his dragon in a gallery.
He was attracted to the beautiful, talented and curvy artist, whom he and his dragon recognized immediately as their mate. Now their only have to find a way to get her to their hone and woo her.
While getting things in order, Naomi was kidnapped by one of Gregory's enemies. The Storm Dragon wasn't about to let any harm come to his mate now that he'd just found her. He told her the truth.
The council of the elements was not happy with Gregory but the latter didn't care. He would face any consequences in order to protect his mate. Safe could be said about Noami.
He was declared innocent by the master council. As the lovebirds went on to getting to know each other better, danger was still lurking around them. With the help of his friends and family, Gregory took care of the eneny.
MATED TO THE STORM DRAGON is the first standalone paranormal novel in Zoe Chant's ELEMENTAL MATES series. It was beautiful and fast-paced. Two thumbs up and a recommendation for you all to give this book a try.
****I received a free copy from the author, without any obligation to review.****
Great read. This was another terrific story by Zoe Chants. Gregory is a storm dragon shifter who has been searching for his mate for years. If a dragon does not find his mate by the time he receives his full power then he will go mad.
Natalie is an artist that hasn't painted for a year. Her last painting was of a storm dragon. She doesn't know where the inspiration came from to paint it but she has kept it all this time. Now she has to try to sell it to make rent.
When Gregory sees the painting he knows that it is of him. He makes a deal with the gallery owner to meet the artist. When he meets her he realizes that she is his mate. When he goes to the back to pay for the painting Natalie gets kidnapped by a fire dragon. There are a few twists in the story that kept me reading. There are a lot of shifters involved in this book. We meet a Griffen and Chimera along with wolf, dog, cheetah, eagle shifters. There is a town full of unique shifters. I would love to read more stories in this world. I would especially like it if the chimera finally found his mate and had a happy ever after.
I loved this book so much that I immediately went and marked every book I could find by the author as "to read."
Naomi is a down-on-her-luck artist that has pretty much given up on her art and is on the verge of being homeless as she can't even pay her rent. She has one last painting to sell and has pinned her dimming hopes on that sale to at least keep her afloat a little longer.
She's shocked when her dragon painting sells for a fantastic amount that she never expected. Billionaire Gregory Drago offers to buy it as long as he's able to meet the artist.
Gregory's a dragon shifter, and upon meeting Naomi he discovers that she's his mate. Shortly after they meet, Naomi is kidnapped right in front of him by a fire dragon.
This book was romantic, sexy, suspenseful, and just plain fun to read. I loved many of the characters: Naomi, Gregory, Jared, Ginny, and the chimera.... and I even see an intriguing possible future for the fire dragon.
I'm so glad this book was on offer by Kindle Unlimited, I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. It has definitely drawn me into the worlds of Zoe Chant!
I seriously wanted Gregory and/or Naomi to die, at least then they would've been interesting. They had no substance, no development and not a single flaw. They go to live in a Thomas Kinkaid painting of a village where everything is perfect and the evil dragon only manages to destroy a single tower. There was so little world building it was laughable, especially as this was listed as a new series not set in the same world as her others. Then the are the issues just never addressed. A PR event at an art gallery in New York York featuring a billionaire has the premiere artist abducted, broken front glass window with her purse/cell/identity left behind..... and, nothing? No social media outcry, no investigation nothing? Then she magically opens her own gallery not even a year later, with no business experience and even though she hasn't been painting anything? Jared gave Gregory bad information that "almost" got his mate killed and no one brings up betrayal?
I'm definitely finished with this level of writing, not to mention how little Ms. Chant seems to think of her readers' intelligence.
Naomi is a real struggling artist. She hasn't painted for about a year. She works in retail, a job she hates but the rent needs paying, even that isn't enough as they've cut her hrs. She has just 1 painting left, a picture of a dragon. She had an acquaintance who had a gallery and as a flavour agreed to add it to his largest exhibition, though he said he didn't think it would sell, mythology was out of vogue. Then he phones and says he's had a phone bid for it, twenty thousand, but this mysterious millionaire wants to meet the artist. Gregory Drago is a dragon shifter who has been searching for his mate for a very long time. If he dosn't find her soon he will loose control of his dragons storm power and worse, of his mind. Dragons cannot be seen by the humans they live amongst, but somehow there is a painting of him flying. He needs to see the artist and find out how, the council who rules the dragons are not happy, they are worried his mind is going and he's breaking the rules. Sue P
Naomi is at the lowest and hardest place in her life when she suddenly is struck by the need to paint. She was so focused and felt so sure of what she was painting. Gregory is a storm dragon shifter and comes upon the painting done by Naomi. It was of a dragon and it was him. He was sure she must have seen him but knew that couldn't have happened because humans can't see dragons when they are in their dragon shape. After meeting her, he knew she was his mate and then it all became clear. Being his mate she just painted him without ever seeing him. After she is kidnapped by a fire dragon, Gregory fights the fire dragon and unfortunately, Naomi has to save him. It was all so romantic and they finally went to Gregory us hometown and were welcomed with much fun and fanfare. It was an amazing story and a wonderful beginning to the series. I definitely recommend it to all.
This is a story with a mystery as well as romance. I found it to be a wonderful story with two strong main characters. Naomi Edwardson is a starving artist working two jobs. but cannot pay the rent. Here last hope is that she can sell her dragon painting. She really hates to part with it. Gregory Drago is a storm dragon shifter who buys the painting for twenty thousand dollars, with the condition they meet in person. He needs to solve how she could paint him in light. The meeting goes off with a glitch a fire dragon kidnaps Naomi, and the chase is on. How in the world can a fire dragon take his mate, when they are extinct? Will the council find the dragon before he can expose dragons? Will Naomi be accepted by the town in which he lives? Come fly into the world of a dragon and find out.
I have 0 problems with some good insta-love, in fact I read a few of this author's other books which included the fated mate/insta-love trope. I understand that if you love someone and that someone is your fated mated, there's no reason for them to doubt each other and/or not want to be together since day 1. What I don't like though? When authors think that because they are fated mates and fell in love instantly they already KNOW each other and have nothing to learn about the other person. You can fall in love and get to know someone at the same time, you don't have to jump from "I have never seen you before" to "you are my mate so I know everything there is to know about you and our future together". Argh, that's boring. So yeah, I was bored. The outside drama was not exciting enough to make me like the book all that much.
Zoe...Zoe...Zoe...have you ever written a bad story? Oh my...this story was over way to quickly! I was swept away in the romantic tale. There is enough angst, excitement, action, and adventure to keep you on your toes and just the right amount of romance to melt your heart! Zoe continues to find the proper recipe to blend her stories into modern fairytales to sooth the soul... I am hoping this story turns into another series...I will have to wait and see...🤞 This is a fun, fast paced story, with strong, positive characters. A new take on dragons, but I am not going to reiterate the entire story, that is what reading the book is for...just know I have yet to be disappointed in anything I have read by this author and Mated to the Storm Dragon is NOT an exception! Loved it!
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Naomi has almost given up on her art. When one of her paintings is sold, it is an answer to her prayers. One look at the buyer and she cannot believe the instant attraction. Gregory does not believe that there is a painting out there of his dragon. He must buy the painting + keep his dragon a secret. One look at the painter, and he found his mate. When another dragon kidnaps Naomi, Gregory is furious. Who has the audacity to kidnap his mate ? This was a very cute story. I loved the relationship between Naomi + Gregory. I hope that this book is part of a series. I would love to read more about the characters in Gregory's village.
Once I found out that Zoe Chant is actually a group of authors it made so much more sense why I really didn’t like some of their books (like this one) but loved others. Another reviewer pointed out that this book felt like an outline rather than a full book and I agree. You can have character development in a short book but that didn’t happen here. It was also really repetitive and poorly edited. When the main characters met, I’m pretty sure the word “freedom” was used like a dozen times in just one or two pages. The main plot was superficial and that paired with shallow characters made it cringey to read. BUT I’m going to keep reading this authors’ books because many of their other series are great.
I'm not sure why this book has gobs of five star reviews. It's basically a slurry of every paranormal romance plot device. True mates, pair bond, alpha power, shifter who talks to the animal inside himself as another separate being (which was belatedly established in the last chapter as almost an afterthought) and let's not forget billionaire. Maybe this book was intentionally written silly and I'm over analysing it, but it was incredibly silly. I mean if an author is going to use every tired idea in the genre, the least they could do is make it their own.
Naomi has lost her joy in her art and is desperately trying to make ends meet. Gregory is searching for his mate before the madness sets in. One painting brings them together, but enemies are determined to ruin them. Will Naomi accept Gregory's world? Will Gregory discover the truth behind their enemy?
Loved Naomi and Gregory. Love Naomi's attitude and how accepting she was. Gregory was awesome as a mate and loved his protective, but loving attitude. These two were perfect for each other and hope that the other shifters in this book get their own HEA.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Absolutely delightful! I hated to put this book down for normal things like making dinner. But the ending was wonderful. So good in fact that I didn't want the story to end. I could continue to read about Gregory, Naomi and Mountain View for a long time to come. The idea that a dragon controlled a certain element was interesting, and I hope to see more of these elemental dragons. I certainly hope to see what happens to the fire dragon. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book, but I borrowed a copy through the Kindle Unlimited program.
I loved this story! The action started pretty quickly and things kept moving. This was a fun read. Gregory and Naomi are super characters. I enjoyed their interactions, and his town was great. There were a lot of surprises in this story. If you like fast paced Dragon shifter stories with fantastic characters, lots of action and surprise along with some steamy scenes, then this is for you. It is marked as a standalone story, but I am hoping to see some of these characters again in other stories. Enjoy!
I should have left this book unread after the first 2 chapters but I hate leaving anything undone. The writing was uninspired. Nondescript clusters of words. Idk how this ever made it past one of those pay per chapter sites and onto my Kindle. Lol Entirely too predictable with no real substance. The steamy scenes weren't even steamy. Absolutely nothing was described beyond a few words. The story was flat. Really unfortunate because anything with Dragon shifters has the potential to be a great read.
Gregory and Naomi's story is full of danger, laughter, loved ve and hot sexy dragons , chimera, werewolves and all types of other shifters. Loved how the author wove the story with the supposedly "weak" human Naomi being as mentally strong as a dragon shifter !! 4⭐'s. If you like dragon shifter paranormal romance, you'll love this book . I received a gifted copy of the book and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
Never read Zoe Chant books before i must say I loved this book. This book is fast paced and well written. When Geogory saw Naomi he knew in an instant Naomi was his mate. But before he could tell her she was kidnapped by a fire Dragon. As a powerful storm dragon Geogory needs to fight for his mate keep her safe. The chemistry between Geogory and Naomi is scorching hot. You won't be disappointed reading this book.
If you enjoy reading about Dragon's and how they are finally finding their mate's, while trying to keep them safe from other not so nice dragon's, then you'll enjoy this. I did enjoy this quick read, but I must state that for me personally, it wasn't as good as other book's I've read by Ms Zoe Chant, hence the 3 star's. I will however be reading the next book, "Mated to the Earth" as I do so enjoy Ms Chant's story telling.
