Never Underestimate Granny

Nail biters beware: you're going to bite them down to the quick. The book starts with Bubba in the Winter Queen's fairy dungeon listening to the sounds of his dearest friends getting tortured.

After the torture, healers are sent in to heal up the damage. The healing hurts, too, of course. It is also is a reminder of the torture that Bubba's friends are going to have to endure torture the next night. Grandma Mab is angry that her daughter soiled the family line by mating

Last time Bubba was in Fairy, he tried to keep his killing to a minimum. After a great deal of torture (off-screen between Into the Mystic and Cold as Ice), the gang isn't showing the same level in restraint. In a land where people heal easily, cutting off an ear is an acceptable interrogation technique, something the gang learned during their two months in the dungeon providing entertainment for the mad Queen Mab – or, as Bubba calls her, Granny.

The search in the lands of Winter for Bubba's mis

First off, great book, like all the others in this fine series. However, Bubba stories are part of a series and build on each other and this is not the book you should choose to jump into first. You'll still love it, but it makes more sense if read in context. Even so, this book was a jump forward for me and it took me a moment to grasp how the characters had progressed since I last read of them. Last note before a spoiler... this takes a big leap from the first Bubba collection I had just compl ...more

Back in Fairyland and all is not well, when is it for Bubba and the gang. Granny Mab has put the wammy on his mum and chucked the rest of them in the dungeon. Having to fight in a tournament to save his mum, will Bubba be able to save the day, again!! Good book, with season four building up nicely.

Cold As Ice was my first Bubba the Monster Hunter read and it was great. The stories can be read as stand alones but I am looking forward to going back and reading/listening to the others. Bubba is your typical red neck and has a unique perspective on life and Monster Hunting that is enjoyable to the reader. The narrator does a great job at bringing Bubba and the story to life.

What do you get when you mix a Redneck Monster Hunter and a Faerie Queen? Lots of excitement and humour. Bubba tales are always a good time with unique characters and a fast paced plot, you'll just keep reading. John G. Hartness is one of my new favourite authors.

As always, great

I love Bubba. He's pretty much the perfect redneck guy and he fights monsters! The only bad part is that the books areas never long enough.
