Between Two Minds: Awakening
A cleverly written, fast-paced science fiction thriller reminiscent of Aldous Huxley, William Gibson, Philip K. Dick, and Michael Crichton.
As a paraplegic, Ryan has always dreamed of walking. He saved a small fortune to undergo a common procedure in his time to transfer his mind into a physically fit host body. Afterwards, his obsession with walking is immediately...more

Ryan was such a relatable and powerful character. Dynamic. Realistic. It truly makes you wonder how one in his position would react.
The futuristic world was well written. I felt as though I ...more

Dang! Between Two Minds: Awakening is one hell of a book. Its a psychological sci-fi thriller, which is a pretty cool sub-genre to begin with. Add in amazing writing and a fast-paced plot with twists and turns, you have D. C. Wright-Hammer will have you anxiously flipping through pages. I know I certainly was.

the layout in how the author structured it made me want to keep reading. One chapter flowed
nicely into the next. Literally! Aside from the few errors I did come across, (Not spelling, but rather omitted words that the mind easily places there unless you're paying attention!) I don't really have anything negative to say about this book. If you're looking to a semi-future setting with a story where you just ...more
Fascinating look at where science, technology, and psychiatry might take us. Will the future have us shedding our less than stellar bodies for something better? Will there be body farms to raise these specimens? D.C. Wright-Hammer creates a world where he delves deeply into two lives impacted by this new technology. One is a wheel-chair bound man yearning for a fuller life and the second a warrior. His writing travels back and forth between time ...more
Ryan, the protagonist of Between Two Minds: Awakening does exactly that, exchanging his paraplegic physical self for a new body. The process is touted as almost problem-free, safe and effective. But Ryan ...more
First, it must be acknowledged how creative, and just damn good, the concepts and writing are for the novel. The world building that Wright-Hammer engages is some of the smoothest I have read in awhile. It is neither overwhelming or lacking. The reader is pulled in to the world and becomes so ...more
