I have a love-hate relationship with author John Locke. I love to see when he releases a new book and I hate when I see he's released a new book.

Confusing I know but only if you've never read one of his books. If you have then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

This book promises the reader a perplexing mystery of violence, infidelity, and some really bizarre situations.

It delivers in true John Locke style. As with all his books, things are not always as they seem. Half of the fun and all of the frustration is exactly what you'd expect with the Locke classic twist at the end.

I was on vacation when I started this book so I had plenty of reading time planned with this just being one of a few books on my list. There were a few times I had to set my Kindel down because I was so mad I was afraid I might throw it off the balcony. That's some good writing, when you have a visceral reaction to the words you're reading then you know the author has talent.

John Locke has a few series with multiple titles in each. I've read them all and although they may not be for everyone, I would recommend you try a few out. You might just find a great new author to follow. Recommended to mystery lovers or anyone looking for something to get your blood pumping.

"This Story Is Totally Mind Blowing"

Okay, John Locke, you've won me back as a fan with this unbelievable story, much to my surprise! Wife Maddie Conover was declared missing after three days. Some blood was found on a rug, and her husband, Seth, is put into handcuffs as the obvious villain. But on this day, Maddie convinces the police that she had always been at home and that Seth hasn't been taking his medication and is sometimes delusional. How come all their life savings have been wired to a vulgar old man? Well, who dun it? Maddie? Seth? Both of them? Read this very suspenseful, well-written story. The main character does speak frequently to you, the reader. This novel will make you laugh and also will definitely shock you.

My favourite author has done it again. This book goes way beyond entertaining. Awesome !

I've read quite a few books by John Locke. I really can't pick my favorite because they've all been great. This one confirms my feeling about John. He's nuts, but also the most entertaining author I've ever had the pleasure of reading. If you enjoy mystery, numerous twists and laughing out loud then do yourself a favor and add John to your reading list. Reading one of John's books is like having a beer with you best friend who relates the most bizarre, funny story you've ever heard. Keep writing John and I'll keep reading.

Disappointing. I've been a fan of Locke and his amazing characters for a very long time. And there's a little bit of that here... but not much. The story gets sillier and sillier with situations that just don't add up... turning back over itself again and again, with a climactic scene that is almost as unoriginal and cliche as someone waking up and saying "Wow, it was all a dream." Don't bother.

Not his best by far, but!!!

Very different from his previous books but worth reading.
I do wish Locke would learn when to say me instead of I when it follows a verb. Example: it left Maddie and I speechless. Try saying this while dropping Maddie and. It would read "it left I speechless"

Different

This was a departure from his normal books, yet still entertaining. This bookhumorquic and fast read. Kept me entertained. I enjoyed the read and maybe he could do these types of books every once in awhile. Prefer the normal books of Creed and Dani Ripper.

Surprised

This book had me guessing clear to the end. While it was obvious Seth had a mental quirk in his personality, I was quite surprised at the end. An unusual book for John, but a good read nonetheless.

Saved by the ending

Just as I was growing weary the ending reengaged me. This is an entertaining read as usual w J Locke. The authors note at the end makes one appreciate Locke's creative process. I'd live to talk w this guy!

Another great read by John Locke. A bit reminiscent of a certain Dennis Lehane book, which I won't name so I don't give away the plot. Locke' books always have interesting characters and plenty of plot twists. I'm constantly amazed by his ability to excel in so many genres.

another intriguing story from Locke told in only the way he can do it. He is a twisted monkey for sure, but I couldn't put it down. If you are OOU then you are gonna read it for sure.

A fun change change of pace

I have to say that the final twist did occur to be at one point but I dismissed it. But a fun fast read that helped a plane trip “fly by”.
