They say opposites attract. Someone needs to tell that to Emerson Scott.

Gavin:

All I ever wanted was to play ball. When an act of sheer stupidity took that dream away, I thought I’d never bounce back. But now I have the opportunity to coach an up-and-coming phenom, and I'm giving it all I've got. The fact that I've been lusting after his smoking-hot sister only sweetens t

The Game (Carolina Connections) by Sylvie Stewart is the fourth book in her Carolina Connections series. This story can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you going back to read the previous books in this series, they are just as funny and enjoyable. Once again, this author has created a funny romance that will keep you engaged until the last word. Her characters are lovable, connectable and true to life. This story has just a little bit of everything in it and will take you on a rol ...more

The Game is the fourth book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. It is a fun, light-hearted and fabulous contemporary romance/ romantic comedy. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Stewart. It is the fourth in a series, but can be read as a standalone. After reading this book, I will definitely be going back to read the other books in the series.
Gavin was the golden boy, star pitcher who made a stupid mistake that cost him a career in baseball. He has learned to

This is the third book in this series but is my first read. I believe this could be read as a standalone. I had a lot of information and wasn't lost while reading this. It was simply well done.

Writing was surpurb and had me glued to the pages. This is my first book and planning on reading more for sure. I really enjoyed reading about Gavin and Emerson. I could definitely feel there emotions through there story. There journey to love is relaetable and I couldn't put the book down.

After Gavin has lost his chance to achieve his dreams, he accommodates himself in his part-time job and he is content to be a local talent scout. Upon seeing Jay, Emmy's brother, he realizes the full potential of the boy and leaves to encourage the team to invest in the boy.
The only problem is Jay's older sister, a successful lawyer focused on her job and to complicate everything a little bit older than Gavin. He does not intimidate himself and plot several situations to get closer to Emerson. S

An incredibly sweet romance. A hard working straightlaced young lady working her way towards a position in a prestigious law firm meets a local one time all star. Never have you seen such opposites, but they click almost from the word go!
Emerson the "older" woman falls for the hot baseball coach of the academy her younger brother is attending. Gavin, the coach, is intrigued with "Emmy" after meeting her at one of her brothers games. Passion erupts every time these two are in the same area, but E

Once again, I find myself greedily devouring another book from this talented author.

I really think that each book I have read has been stronger than the last.  And, although the cast of side characters and their intertwining relationships may have your head spinning a little, Gavin and Emerson work really well as a couple.

And yet, in some ways, it's the interactions with Jay that really adds the extra depth to the story.  Throw in the completely opposite parents and it just all works really well

RomCom is not my typical genre, but hot damn did The Game score a home run!!!! I read this book in about a day and couldn't put it down. I love Sylvie's writing style and the back-n-forth of different character narrations. I highly recommend this author and The Game. You won't be disappointed!

Older woman/younger man romances are a soft spot for me since I am six years senior to my handsome husband. Finding a story that doesn't shove that trope down my throat every other page is tricky. Thank you, Sylvie Stewart, using it as a hook into the bigger love story of the ultra-hardworking, lithe, 29 year-old Emerson and the 24 year-old, bold flirt Gavin.

It's not age difference that limits Emerson's own personal joy and love life. It's her own ambition to be a managing partner where she wor

I literally just finished reading The Game by Sylvie Stewart and I have to say that I was completely impressed with this storyline and the author itself. I have to be honest, this is the first book I've read by this book and was surprisingly impressed with what I got our of it.

I didn't realize that there were other "installments" by this author that go along with this book. But I was pleased that this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I would call it an installment because there are oth

“…Life has a way of surprising us.”

Sylvie Stewart has yet again nailed a five-star read with the latest in the Carolina Connections Series. It can be read as a standalone HEA book. I would however, recommend that the books be read in order to get the full impact and enjoyment out of them. There are many characters that intertwine amongst the books and it is nice to see where they are from the ending of their book.
With that said this book is Gavin and Emmerson’s journey to their happily ever aft

The Game by Sylvie Stewart is the fourth book in the Carolina Connections series, but all instalments can be read as standalones. A romantic comedy, just like previous books in the series, I found myself devouring this book in one sitting; it’s just that good! This time we follow two new characters, who we’ve met before, as they find themselves growing closer, despite best efforts not to. This was a fantastic read and one I definitely recommend to others!

The Game is the fourth book in the Carolina Connections series and OMG I think this is my favourite out the series so far.

Gavin has always been the Joker of the group, the lay about but he has decided to turn his life around and do something worth while. So with the help of his meddling friend and his boss's girlfriend Fiona he embarks on not quite his dream but still the thing he loves the most, coaching baseball. But as Gavin is finishing off for the day his boss asks him to go and check out a

The Game, book four in the Carolina Connections series.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Gavin’s story. He was not a character I particularly liked. But I ended up loving him.
He really grew up a lot through this series.
After an injury ends his hope at playing baseball, he fell into a two year self loathing period. Deciding finally to embrace this “adult thing”, and move forward instead of dwelling in the past. He was always a great uncle, most of the time a good brother, but he becam

The Game by Sylvie Stewart is the fourth book in her Carolina Connections series. You probably could read the story as a standalone but I do not recommend it and why should you? The writer has created a superb gang of characters that you really want to know better before meeting them in the fourth book! I was worried that it might be the last one in the series but she has introduced some more ‘supporting’ characters that seems are going to get their own story! Yey! I could not be happier!

The Game- Sylvie Stewart

4 out of 5 stars

The Game by Sylvie Stewart was a really fun read! It is book 4 in the Carolina Connections series; however, it can be read as a standalone. Some of the characters from other books in the series make appearances but it is not necessary to read them in order. This story flows so smoothly and seamlessly and is incredibly detailed, leaving nothing out. The Game isn’t an overly dramatic or intense story but there is still plenty going on that I was kept interes

I like books that are different from the norm. There are not many storylines that have an older woman and a younger man. So I found that quite refreshing. The storyline itself was amazing and I loved every minute of it.

I want my own Gavin. He seems to know what he wants and he does anything he can to get it. His character was so sweet and caring and just plain amazing.

What a great story! I love baseball so I'm always up for a good boys of summer read.

Gavin was an up and coming baseball star looking at the Majors when he made a big fat mistake. That mistake tuned into wallowing for a couple of years but now he's working on finding a new life. One that involves coaching instead of playing, finishing college, and working construction to actually afford his bills. He's fun with a ton of swagger but he's very sweet.

Emerson is fantastic. Her use of common words fo

Award-winning author Sylvie Stewart is addicted to Romantic Comedy and Contemporary Romance, and she’s not looking for a cure. She hails from the great state of North Carolina, so it’s no surprise that most of her books are set in the Tar Heel state. She’s a wife to a hilarious dude, and mommy to nine-year-old twin boys who tend to take after their father in every way. Sylvie often wonders if they ...more
