Thorvald Steen har skrevet en gripende roman om skam og hemmeligheter, og om å akseptere at livet ble som det ble. Hovedpersonen får en telefon fra en ukjent kusine, og på et blunk trer slektas dobbeltliv frem. En bestemor som har aldri har besøk av sønnen og datteren på samme tid, og en hovedperson som går forbi slekta si på gata uten å vite hvem de er, eller at de i det hele tatt eksisterer. En kort bok om fortielse og skam i en familie med en arvelig sykdom. Rart å lese om en så hardnakket unnvikelse i vår tid, hvor åpenhet er såpass akseptert. Interessant nok, men av en eller annen grunn griper ikke personene meg helt, og forfatterens enkle måte å skrive på blir for meg dessverre litt... kjedelig.
