#4 in the Napa Wine Heiresses romance series
This is actually more of a family chick lit than a romance, to me, although there's certainly some romance involved. Sake is the illegitimate daughter of Xavier St. Pierre the wine mogul. When she ends up in trouble, he brings her to the family home and introduces her to the family. As a street-smart wise-talking young woman, she was unappealing at first. But as her personality is revealed, she became much more appealing--thoughtful, caring, independent, and strong. Her love of her puppy was cute and brought out a softer side. Bill Diamond comes across as older than he is because of his caution and stodginess, as compared to Sake. But he is the perfect foil for her, calm vs her edginess, plus at heart they have very similar philosophies.
This story is about the push-pull Sake feels from her previous life in her comfort zone despite its difficulties vs the plush but controlled life in the St. Pierre household. Her search for her mother is heart-breaking but adds some grittiness to the story.
Although I've only read one of the previous books in the series, I found it easy to keep track of the players and think it can easily be read as a standalone.

Sake, the half-Japanese and all wild love child of Xavier St. Pierre, has been dragged against her will to meet her half-sisters, the wine heiresses of Napa Valley. Along the way, Sake loses her job, her dog, and her heart to mild-mannered local boy Bill Diamond.
Living an almost feral existence in San Francisco, Sake knows she's no pampered princess and is equally resentful and intimidated by her polished half-sisters Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Merlot. Having been abandoned by an indifferent mother, Sake also believed her father left her as well. Napa Valley isn't ready for this foul-mouthed, surly, tattooed woman "who looked as sweet as cotton candy, but when she opened her mouth, Eminem came out".
Neither is Bill Diamond, a local realtor who just wants to make his parents happy by settling down with a good girl. But he somehow finds himself chauffeuring Sake and her dog around town while trying to defuse her angry and resentful moods. I loved that Bill wasn't some macho alpha. I'm not sure if he's even a beta, so much a really sweet guy whose patience and kindness slowly wins over the wild one.

Bill Diamond was a decent, respected man. A man of integrity. Plus, he smelled like dark woods and warm spices, a deeply sensuous smell that made Sake want to curl herself around himThis book isn't big on action or sex, but is full of fantastic descriptions of Napa Valley and food as well as a sweet story of a girl who learns to love, not just her good guy neighbor, but her family and herself.

Sake was a very memorable character. A product of a sordid affair she carries the heritage of two cultures on her shoulders. This young woman endures so much hurt and shame in her life she struggles with her true identity. This proves even more difficult when she is thrusts into the public eye as the secret love child of a wealthy vineyard owner. In order to find her future, she has to face her past. What I like most about this story is that nothing came easy for Sake she has had to fight for everything but doing so has given her a deep appreciation for others and helped her to become the strong woman who learns to face her fears. I received an ARC of A Taste of Sake by Heather Heyford in exchange for an honest review. A romance that proves deeper than a love story it is also a story about a woman learning how to love herself and accept all that makes her unique.

This was a fun sweet read about a hard shelled girl who gets in trouble with the law which results in her being forced to spend time with her papa and three estranged sisters. With her father's cook afraid of dogs, she's forced to rely on the help of Bill Diamond. The only other person in Napa who she knows.
Bill is used to everything having its place. Including the woman in his life. He has goals and nothing is going to derail him from his plan. Sake is sure as hell not in his plan.
Having never read a book by this author I was pleasantly suprised. It was sweet and romantic and perfect for a chilly fall day.

A Taste of Sake is a fabulous read. It is the fourth installment of The Napa Wine Heiresses. I thought the book was quite enjoyable and fun and I look forward to finding the others in the series.

Koliko sam se samo namucila sa ovom knjigom. Dobila sam je na poklon, pocela sa citanjem a onda je ostavila sa strane i jedva se naterala da zavrsim. Iskreno, dala bih joj dve zvezdice, ali ja zaista ne volim ljubice i ne znam koliko sam objektivna, jer mozda je ovo sjajno napisano za one koji uzivaju u ovom zanru. Ovo je poslednja prica o cetiri sestre koje su imena dobila po sortama pica (kada malo bolje razmislim mozda je ovo zapravo za tinejdz ljubitelje ljubica).

Have you ever had a book that once you started reading it you lost sense of everything else around you? All you wanted to do was keep reading? Usually that happens to me with a Police Detective / Crime Novel or Spy / Action novel. But I found that it happened with this wonderful book.
Sake is the youngest daughter of Xavier St. Pierre, a winery owner in the Napa Valley. The problem is that she grew up poor because her mother and Xavier had an adulterous relationship. He had three daughters with his wife, not with Sake’s mother.
But Sake’s life was not that of a rich, wealthy, socialite like her half sisters. She lived with a mother who moved often, used drugs, drank and was out of touch with reality most of the time. Sake actually went up to a year at times without knowing where her mother was.
But at the age of 22 her father found her and brought her home. How will a mixed race young woman who was raised on the tough streets of San Francisco fit in with her wealthy half siblings and a father whom she really doesn’t know that well at all.
The book is well crafted and the characters are well developed. You come to know the main characters well, learn their secrets, their mindsets and what really helps them cope with a world that is not as simple as it might first appear.
Sake will learn quickly that the rich have problems just like ‘normal’ people. She will also find that she is more welcome than she thought, but that takes time.
There is another character in the book, real estate broker, Bill Diamond. He somewhat comes to Sake’s rescue during an unfortunate accident at the wedding of Sake’s oldest half sibling. This brings Bill into Sake’s life. But Bill has his own issues. He wants to be successful, he wants to have the golden ring of success and he wants a wife to share in life with him, but a wife who fits the Napa Valley mold.
What will he do with Sake, a young woman who has quite a different flavor for language, dress and lifestyle than anyone he has ever known? Will Bill finalize a relationship with Deb, his doctor friend, or will he discover that love comes bundled in a strange package at times.
This entire book caught my attention and I couldn’t wait to get to the end. Now the only problem is I want more.

A Taste of Sake by Heather Heyford is the fourth book in the Napa Wine Heiress Series, but can be read as a standalone.
Sake is different from her sisters. On the outside, she’s very beautiful, just like them, but when she opens her mouth she sounds like Eminem. Lots of sass and slang. She didn’t grow up with money like her sisters did. Her mother took the child support money her father sent and spent it on herself and left Sake on her own. She’s been on own for a while and hasn’t had anyone in her corner. When her father comes to get her, he takes her to his home and lays down some rules. If she follows the rules, she will get the money she’s entitled to, but more importantly, if Sake can stick it out, she will gain a family. A family she never had.
Bill has been on Sake’s side from the beginning until he realizes he might have feelings for her. When that happens, he pulls away from her and tries to make a relationship work with someone more respectable. I had a tough time connecting with Bill. Even though Sake and Bill end up together and get their happily ever after, I feel like he should have broken it off with the nurse he was dating before kissing Sake. It took a car accident for Bill to realize what he wanted.
Overall this was a good read, with well-written words and detailed characters.

I must say I found it hard to connect with Sake and didn't care for her much. I didn't like her attitude and especially how she treated Bill. I understand she had a really rough childhood and she needed to be street tough but that doesn't mean she should go around being so ass-headed with people who are treating her well with no ulterior motive while she tolerates Rico who is always making use of her and treating her haphazardly just because she feels they are of the same league. For someone street smart, she's not exactly intelligent either and she doesn't know how to grab opportunities that are presented to her. My heart went out to her only on 1 instance but it shan't be revealed.
As for Bill, I see him as being down to earth and yes he is rigid especially when it comes to things needing to go according to plan but there's nothing wrong with that. At least he knows what he wants in life and is working hard to achieve it.
This book is aptly named as in real life, Sake doesn't taste fantastic; it's dry with a slight burn but it goes down very smooth. Similarly to this book, it's not the best story in this series but it is still a sweet and heartwarming read overall. I give it 3 1/2 stars to be exact.

This was a really a heartwarming and different kind of story. Sake has had a rough childhood, and is hiding behind this thug act she is putting out. She dropped out of high school, never finished her drivers ed, she is living with an alcoholic man, but she loves baking, and is working in her dream job in a bakery.
The way Sake talks makes her sound immature and dull, when she is anything but. She has serious emotional scars from her childhood, and feelings of not being enough, or seen constantly bother her. Through the story and the events she goes through while living in her father world, for the first time in her life, she slowly grows up, learns to appreciate herself, love herself, gets her life in order, builds relationship not only with her father, but with her sisters as well.
Bill, the realtor, she stumbles on the moment she lands in Napa, gets roped into a sort of a friendship with Sake. They are rather perfect for each other, but it takes time for both of them to realize that as well.
This is a sweet coming of age meets from rags to riches sort of a story. Seeing Sake bloom in her new life, to learn to stand on her own feet, and to accept help when it is needed was heartfelt, her relationship with Bill adorable, with Taylor, the dog, adding to the story its own spice

Where do I start this is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I have read two of the other books and was so happy to have been gifted an ARC from NETGALLEY in exchange for an honest review.
Sake is the fourth sister the St.Pierre clan. She has known about her Papa and his other daughters for years. She was brought up with her Japanese mother HaHa figuratively since she really wasn't a mother by many standards Sake was left to basically fend for herself. It isn't until her eccentric father, Xavier St. Pierre, shows up by helicopter and crashes into his other daughters wedding with Sake do the other girls find out about her. Talk about a wedding surprise.
Sake had it rough and is now stuck in Napa force to follow her fathers rules or be left basically homeless since she lost her job and has no real education. She is foul mouthed and full of tattoos. The complete opposite of her sisters. The story is funny, sad, and about a lost girl finding her way in life. Along the way she has Bill a close family friend who is drawn in. He is as straight laced as you get so why is it that he can't stay away from her and that dog. This is another great addition to the series. I loved it and hope you will too l.

What a way to find out you have a sister! This is the fourth book in the Napa Wine Heiresses Series. This book can be read as a stand alone.
I was given this book for an honest review. Now with that being said, I enjoyed this book. This book had a couple of slow spots but with all the drama going on I could overlook those. I look a book where I learn new stuff. Books that make me google things is very interesting to me.
Sake is the fourth sister the St.Pierre clan. Sake has known about her sisters since she was about 13 years old, that she has three sisters. The St. Pierre sisters all have a few things in common they are competitive...even each other...but they are fiercely loyal.
So when their eccentric father, Xavier St. Pierre, arrives by helicopter they didn't thing much of it. Until he crash landed and they find out they have a half-Japanese sister, Sake.
Sake has had a rough life since her mom, HaHa, packed them up and moved them from the house her Papa set up for them. Sake takes a journey to learn the truth about her past so maybe she can have a better future.

I've only read Merlot's story from this series, which is the 2nd book in the series, and I really liked it, but this one wasn't quite up to my liking. I think the main reason is that I didn't really care for Sake, and I felt like the story was a bit disjointed; the ending need more to it, it felt very abrupt. I liked that Sake is a bit kooky and sassy, but she seemed like her intelligence was a bit lacking, and I can't stand characters who are a bit dopey, and also the way she speaks was annoying. Bill was okay, but he was also sort of flighty, so I was just so-so on the characters. I did like the development of Bill and Sake's relationship; I think they were really cute together, and I think they complement each other's personalities nicely. I like the addition of Sake's dog, and I liked getting glimpses of the other sisters from the previous books. I will read the other books in the series because I think I would like those stories. It was a cute romance, and I enjoyed it, but I just wish it was more developed. It's an easy read and pretty short, so I'd say give it a go, and I did like Merlot's book, so I would read her book as well. I don't think you need to read the other books to enjoy this book, but I think it would help.

I enjoyed reading the story of the “lost” St. Pierre sister, Sake. Sake has lived most of her life feeling unwanted. Her mother left her regularly for long periods of time and her father disappeared when she was young, leaving her to put up walls around her heart and develop a prickly attitude. When she is arrested, her father finds her and gets her out of jail – it turns out he has been looking for her from years after her mother just disappeared with her. Unfortunately, he chooses her older sister’s wedding as the perfect time to introduce her to her three older half sisters. Chaos ensues when her father crashes the helicopter he is flying to the wedding directly into the middle of the crowd.
After the life she has led, Sake has a difficult time allowing in her family and those around her, believing that she in unlovable and unworthy. It is through the help and acceptance of her accidental and ongoing rescuer, Bill Diamond, that Sake finally starts to open up to those around her. Can she find her calling and place in this life in Napa, so from where she grew up culturally? Learning to love isn’t easy, when you have never really been exposed to it before. This is a great story about finding love and acceptance and embracing the differences in others.

Family, sisters, trust, parents, goals, perfection…and more are dealt with in this marvelous story. Never having read a book by this author I was not sure what to expect but it was a delight to read and get to know Sake, Bill and some of the rest of the characters in this book.
The other three sisters stories are told in earlier books in this series – none of which I have read – none of which are necessary before reading this book.
From the time I first met Sake in the helicopter as it was going down till the last page of the book she was a person of character and strength and unlike anyone or any other character I have encountered in or out of a book – she was someone I admired. The other main character in the book is Bill Diamond – a kind, goal oriented, good person who is also a real estate broker and worthy of admiration in his own way.
Other characters in the book played parts but the overall story was the Sake’s. Her dog Taylor was a fun addition – I am a sucker for a book with an animal that plays a role in further relationships.

This was a very enjoyable book. Of course I enjoy any books that actually make me feel, whether it is with laughter, tears or both, such as this one did. For Sake St. Pierre who was always raised as an outsider from her father and three half-dozen, she isn't sure how to act when her father takes her to his home in Napa right before her twenty-third birthday. As she arrives at her sisters wedding literally in an accident, Bill Diamond steps forward and helps lend a hand. This starts a strange type of friendship between them. I would recommend this book to others. It can be read as a stand alone, but I've enjoyed it enough that I plan on reading the previous books about Sake's sisters and their stories. My age must be showing though, I had a bit of trouble with some of what I guess was the San Francisco street slang. Also would have liked a bit more closure on Sake's mother.

This truly enjoyable read is a great addition to the Napa Wine Heiresses series. When the St. Pierre sisters literally have an unknown sister drop from the sky on the day of Sauvignon's wedding, they open their arms willingly to bring Sake St. Pierre into the fold. Sake is not so quick to trust. She has known of and envied her older three half sisters all her life. Believing the will accept her so unconditionally will take some getting use to. Sake meets Bill Diamond on that fateful day as well. He is so very kind and willing to help her out. Sake quickly fears she could easily lose her heart to this man, so running now rather than being rejected later seems to make the most sense. Will he let her go??
This is a wonderful story of a young woman who up until now has lived a hard life. Learning to trust others and depending on family love and loyalty doesn't come in easy but in the end might be what truly saves her. I highly recommend this one.

Be prepared to keep tissues close. This is a tear jerker. I went through a half box. I like this series of Heather's. I like her idea of naming the girls for wines as they live in a winery. The oldest is getting married and her father flies in with his lost daughter. His copter crashes. That tells you how the rest will go. Sake has been on her own since she was about 14. She lived in a flop house with her boyfriend Rico who drinks. Sake makes friends with Bill who sees who she is but won't admit it. Sake loves to bake but can't work as she can't drive. Bill helped her at the wedding so she cares for him after his car crash. Heather has had to put a lot of work into this book. She makes it feel so real. Especially when Sake finds her sisters have lots of flaws too. I would recommend this story to anyone. This story will stay with you for awhile after you have finished reading it. Please give this a chance! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

I had not read anything by Heather Heyford before A Taste of Sake, but hope to remedy that soon. Ms. Heyford has created a rather unique family with the eccentric father and his four daughters. I must say that at times I enjoyed seeing the family especially Sake with her father interact. At other times I simply hurt for this young women who had been so selfishly treated by her mother and other assorted nasties in her life.
I’m also a pushover for anyone who loves their pet as much as Sake loved Taylor. Then when Bill understood and accept this side of Sake, I knew that she had finally found a gem of a man. The journey to happily ever after is not without the necessary potholes and detours that Sake needs to learn that she is worthy of love. I enjoyed taking the trip with her.

Sake's dad Xavier St.Pierre is a wealthy winery owner. She grew up with her mom on the other side of the tracks. Sake new she had three sisters Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Merlot growing up wealthy. The sisters find out about Sake when dad arrives with her in the helicopter at the wedding. Bill Diamond comes to Sake's rescue and they form a friendship. I do not want to tell to much of the book. This is a wonderful book for anyone. I will be buying the other three books in this series.

If you are looking for a great romance then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

Taste of Sake is the last story of the St. Pierre daughters. I must say that at the beginning of the book I was not impress with anything but deeper I got in the story better it became. I didn't like Bill at beginning to. He seemed to be a little snobbish but he turned out to be generous, caring sweet. Sake was whole another story. I liked Bills description of her: sweet as cotton candy, but when she opened her mouth, Eminem came out. Theirs connection was sweet an adorable.
Whole story was interesting until the end. It was funny but also heartbreaking.

I enjoyed this quirky and charming love story because the characters are not your usual hero and heroine and the storyline is quite different from other contemporary romances I have read. It's well written and I liked the fact that I wasn't enamored with Sake at the beginning but then found her to be endearingly lovable and that kept me wanting to know how her story and this unconventional romance would evolve. It's a fun read with lots of layers and family dynamics that will touch your heart.

This is the first book I've read in this series and was a little anxious that I would be lost, but I wasn't! Sake is the half Japanese sister of Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon....so they found out on Sauvignon's wedding!! Daddy's little surprise!! This was a good story even though I hadn't read any of the others.

Loved it!! This is part of a series but can be read a stand alone. Just word of caution - you will love it and will buy the entire series! But once you start you want more!

The romantic conclusion for Bill and Sake was unclear, but it was a great read regardless. Heather Heyford is one of my favorite authors.

Didn't want to put it down!
Books 1-3 were good but this one really held my interest. It started with a bang and kept going, holding me to it. A really good read!
