Kip is great at giving women what they want and need. Getting paid to do it is just a perk of the job. Until meeting Victoria. Hard Work, is a very sensual book. The fact that it has an unusual story line makes it so much better.

Sadly for me this is a DNF. I just can’t connect with these characters. And also eventually I will try to reread.

Do you like books where the sex drips off the page in glorious detail? If so, you've just found your new fetish. Micah Persell has always written great sex scenes, but this book, the start of a series, takes a usual trope and spins it on its head. This time the men are the hookers and it takes a mighty woman to convince him to change his ways. Kip is just flawed enough to be endearing. Victoria has a big secret that's kept her from getting involved with anyone for three long years. Together, they are a mighty pair and the sex is indeed swoon-worthy. Can't wait for the next one.

Hard Work is a fun, erotic story about a gigolo and his client. I loved how their relationship began and evolved. These two have incredible chemistry and boy their sexy times are scorching hot!!

This is the second book I've read by this author. She is great with relationship arcs and how they evolve. The evolution is steady, exciting, and at times emotional.

This book delivers in all of that. I loved this story, the characters, the plot, and the ending. I loved it all.

I received an arc from NetGalley. Hard Work is estimated to release November 6, 2017.

Readers will find themselves charmed by this sexy older woman/younger man romance full of heart and soul. From its immensely appealing hero who wears his heart on his sleeve to a heroine who’s not perfect, this story kept me turning the pages in breathless anticipation. By the time I reached The End I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face and was ready to start it all over again.

Victoria Hastings is a woman devoted to work. After the death of her husband, and the traumatic events surrounding the last few months of their marriage, she’s weighed down by guilt and leery of becoming involved with anyone. The loneliness has been eating at her though, needs she’s had since being married, that she no longer can ignore. Seeing a sexy guy across a bar has her emboldened but discovering he’s a gigolo ends things before they start...until her caring and outspoken sister-in-law intervenes to hire him for a night with Victoria. It’s an eye-opening night for both of them and she’s not near ready for things to end as it was a night of freedom for her, a night to be with someone strong who met all of her desires. Not wanting to jeopardize the morality clause of a much sought-after business contract though has them agreeing to only 18 days of decadent delights which slowly takes a more romantic turn. Through their time together Victoria comes to count on Kip’s support, his pride in her work, and before long they start looking more like a couple as hearts and minds intertwined with scorching interludes. A misunderstanding on Victoria’s part though had her saying hurtful words that made me want to slug her, but when it mattered most she proved herself worthy of Kip’s love and support. Victoria’s a bit uptight when we first meet her, seemingly content being celibate but her loneliness soon becomes apparent. Her guilt over her husband’s death was understandable at first, but her long-term celibacy is pure self-punishment and I was happy to see her sister-in-law pushing her to get over it. Kip being younger was also an issue for her at first but thankfully wasn’t something she dwelled on as so many other romances do. On a whole Victoria was a strong-willed woman, who didn’t always think before she spoke, but who finally realized what was truly important in life. Afraid to start over, to live instead of existing, she finally grabbed on to the love and support Kip was offering in a HEA that was well worth the emotional ups and downs it took to get there.

Kip Masterson’s a lost soul at the start of this story, a lost soul who hides his unhappiness behind a suave and sensual persona. He has an unhappy home life courtesy of a bitter and domineering mother who cares only about appearances. She uses her wealth to belittle her husband and it clouds Kip’s views on love and marriage. Becoming a gigolo was partly an act of rebellion, but it also represents freedom from his mother’s domination. He seems to enjoy his career choice but aspires to be more as he has plans to start a business of his own. He’s become complacent though and fears taking that final step to starting a business. The moment he meets Victoria is when everything changes. He’s drawn to her and throughout their relationship the playboy facade fades away and readers discover a sweet and caring young man who can see a future with her in it. Their time together was a chance for him to find himself as Victoria had complete faith in his ability and intelligence. While his mother constantly tore him down, Victoria built him up. Kip became the quintessential book boyfriend for me as his feelings for her had him wearing his heart on his sleeve. He did many sweet and subtle deeds that charmed me and endeared him to me wholeheartedly. His sweetness is balanced with his inherent sensuality that made for numerous scorching encounters between him and Victoria that took on a more emotional turn as the story progressed. From the first page to the last I was fully invested in Kip and was rooting for his HEA every step of the way.

This was a delightful romance that put a modern twist on the Pretty Woman theme. Kip’s a young man enjoying the carefree life of a gigolo who finds himself unexpectedly drawn to the older woman who helps him find himself while helping her move on from her painful past. They find emotional support in each other and become a dynamic duo for their combustible connection that scorched up the pages. While Kip was near-perfect in his words and deeds it was Victoria who frustrated me at times. She lashed out a time or two in anger and it was hurtful to Kip, who was nothing but wonderful to her. While she did make amends it still marred my overall view of her to where I think Kip should’ve made her grovel more for his forgiveness. The stars of this story are clearly Kip and Victoria, with their flirty banter and crackling connection, and the ups and downs they experienced kept me captivated. Alongside this appealing couple is the bold and colorful Cassidy who pushes Victoria to make amends and re-enter the land of the living. As Victoria’s sister-in-law she was there for the heartache and has her own that she’s dealing with and that colors her own views of romance. That doesn’t stop her from playing cheerleader in her attempts to get Kip and Victoria together and I’d love to see more of this exuberant character. Readers looking for a bit of afternoon delight will get all that and more in this sexy and charming series starter that will leave you with a smile on your face!

Review for Hard Work

You Get Everything

I voluntarily read an arc of this book from NetGalley for a fair and honest review. Kip is an male escort, gigolo, man whore ...a man who works hard for his money, he has just finished up a “ grueling 2 hours session” with his client when he decides to go to a hideaway bar and relax for the evening. Victoria is an advertising executive on the precipice of a huge deal that can make her company relevant. She’s too anxious to go home so she stops in a non touristy bar for a pre celebratory drink. When she spies a gorgeous man drinking in the bar she goes totally outside her unsociable self and send him a drink. He approaches her. Victoria’s husband has passed away almost two years now, she has been celibate. When he moves in on Victoria they toss some harmless banter back and forth. Color Kip stunned when Victoria suggests they leave the bar and get a hotel room. Isn’t that Kip’s line? It is then Kip informs Victoria that his rate is $1,000.00 a night but he will give her a discount. With the morning light and a conversation with her friend Victoria soon realized that a gigolo would be a perfect choice for her re entering the dating scene. No messy relationship would come from it, other than business. Now she regretted sending him away without learning his name.
When she confessed the events of the previous evening to her sister in law Cassidy, the idea of hiring someone started to sound like the perfect solution. Cassidy made Victoria promise to let her take over the task of locating the gigolo and very soon, Victoria was in a hotel room, waiting for her”guest” to arrive. Upon seeing Kip, she is once again, inspired by his looks. After just one kiss, Victoria loses it...like she would lose her lunch. Kip manages to get to her in the bathroom and carries her to bed. She also calls Kip her deceased husband’s name at one point. It wasn’t long before Kip realized that although he was the one getting paid for his services this was one of the best nights of his life. Making love with Victoria was like riding on a runaway train. Kip doesn’t even take the money on the night stand. When Victoria wakes in thee morning she decides celibacy is for the birds and she wants more...not just more...but more of Kip. But, with Kip she wants a longer term monogamous relationship. Eighteen days ...that’s when the current month ends..if it’s not enough, they will just go on a month to month basis. Now, she just had to get Kip on board. I LAAAHHOOVED this book. I get soooo many arcs so I usually skip love scenes, but this was a new Author for me so I read the entire book, including love scenes. I had serious goosebumps when he hoarsely asked “what is it, honey”? I almost went all Butterfly McQueen on the. Millennials, look up Butterfly McQueen. The secondary storyline is that Victoria has waited years for The Ricchezza Casino to change advertising agencies. When she gets a whiff of a scent that they are she sends them her ideas that she’s been covertly working on for years. One flash drive, could change her career. When The Ricchezza expresses interest, she’s picturing her corner office. She will have to agree to a background check, but what’s to worry about? Victoria has been a celibate widow for the last two years, devoted to her career...but...aw man..she just tried to hire a gigolo for the rest of the month...could that be a problem?

When we start this book we meet Victoria Hastings - a single woman who hasn’t been intimate since her husband passed away. She is convinced by her sister in law that she needs a night out so she ventures into a bar where she meets an extremely attractive man named Kip. Little does she know that the man she is eyeing is actually a gigolo who is used to being purchased. She is mortified and leaves but she can’t keep him from her mind. Then when her sister in law ‘buys’ Kip for Victoria (unknowingly of course) she realizes she needs to take this chance. She pays him for the whole week because she just can’t get enough. Of course that much time with someone and feelings will start to develop, yes? And that’s what soon happens here. Once the week is up, neither of them want to walk away but will fear of rejection keep them from voicing their want to stay?

This was my first book by author Micah Persell; I wasn’t sure what I was going to get into but just by the brief description alone I knew it was going to be a good one. If you are looking for a romance with steamy sex, sweet moments, & emotional roller coasters then this is where you want to look. I think this was a great start to a series and I can promise I will be reading whatever comes next. The author really takes the reader for a spin in this book. We’ve got two characters who are so alike but still unique; they both are trying their hardest to succeed - Victoria wants to move up at her company while Kip wants to finally save up enough money to start his own business. They both connect on such a level that the reader just wants one of them to open up and tell the other that they want to stay! I won’t spoil it but I will recommend this to anyone who likes romance with a little spice; this is a great series starter and I can’t wait to see what else the author brings us.

**4 Stars - I was offered a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story is about Victoria Hastings and Kipling Masterson. Victoria is working in an adverting agency. Since her husband died after committing suicide her only focus was her work. She did not spend any minute of her time not even for sexual pleasure. She did not have any sex the last 3 years. Now her dream is to run the next campaign of The Ricchezza casino. However what standing between her winning her biggest customer is Georgiana, her enemy.

Kip, as he is known except from his mother who insists on calling him Kipling, has been gigolo since he remembers. He does not do relationships since high school when the girl he were fond of pay him for escorting her to the prom. He does not belong to an agency. He builds his own clientele and his aim is to gain enough money in order to raise his own business.

Everything change when he meets Victoria to a bar, where she buys him a drink and he responds with his price. Victoria is shocked at first but the next day she finds the idea of sleeping with a gigolo the perfect solution. Her sister in law sets her up with a gigolo and Victoria is shocked to find out who is standing in front of her is the guy from the previous night. Their first night is amazing and she makes a sexual business proposition to Kip and when he accepts everything changes…

Micah wrote a joyful love story with lots of hot scenes and a nice pace. The reader do not get bored easily and he will be captivated on how the story progress. A romance story which I really enjoyed and which I would probably recommend to the love romance lovers.

Victoria is having a hard day when she propositions who she thinks is just a hot guy at the bar she's drinking in. When the guy tells her he'd be glad to but that his going rate is $1000, Victoria freaks and runs out. However, upon much reflection the next day with her sister-in-law who is also her best friend, she decides some hot fun between the sheets with a guy who won't want a relationship is just the thing for her. So she goes to her hotel room to wait for the man that her friend has found for her to show up, and lo and behold, it's the hottie from the bar. Yeah...

I really like Hard Work. It's sexy, it's fun, and Kip (the hottie) and Victoria have chemistry in spades! I was dreading the inevitable blowup, though, and when it came, wow, it hurt. I hurt for Kip because Victoria turned into a raging psycho who hurled cruel words at him, words that no one deserves, especially a guy who's as sweet as Kip. But, thankfully, it was resolved with a minimum of angst, and they got their hard earned HEA. If the whole Pretty Woman with a twist is your thing, I highly recommend you put Hard Work on your TBR list. It's much better than the other book I've read by Micah Persell (Uncharted Waters), and is entertaining and sexy.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

This is not my natural sort of go-to story. But dang! There is enough explicit sex to keep me in a constant blush (for my mother’s sake, or course). And dang!

Regardless, and thankfully, this story does not stand or fall on sex alone. Ms. Persell is a master of character development, and, bringing all her vast talent to bear, she refuses to take the easy route. When I think back on it, I remember the characters – vividly – which is how it should be.

She destroys any possible “ew” factor in choosing a male prostitute – or gigolo – as the main love interest. She even makes the scenario seem plausible. A la Pretty Woman you ask? No, better. Way better. And much more believable. This guy, Kip, is kind, intellectually strong, honest, and his backstory lends understanding and support for his chosen profession.

Oh, BTW, the ending, beyond HEA, is truly awesome and whoop-whoop worthy.

Well done.
I received and ARC for this book, in return for an honest review. If I find a work to be less than my three-star standard, I won’t post a review, however I will give my review to the author. My grading system is not based on whether I personally like the nature of the story, but whether the writing is up to snuff.

I borrowed Hard Work ~ Sin City Gigolos ~ Book 1, by Micah Persell, author from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Amazon.

Victoria Hastings, an advertising executive has a chance at the biggest contract of her career when she finds out that she will be investigated in her private life. This is a day after she has a night with a paid gigolo that she hired the night before and she only knows him as Kip. She has a private contract for another twenty days that she wants so bad she is not giving it up.

Vegas is really a small town; her main competition for the contract is Georgiana Masterson "The Master" and Kipland's mother. Playing dirty his mother causes her to loose the contract and she keeps to herself that Kip is the gigolo. He finds out what his mother has done and fixes it when he finds out the owner of the advertising contract is cheating on his wife, the hypocrite.

I loved the happy ending for both Victoria, Kip and the cheater's wife too. Kip is the perfect lover, sexy, considerate and attentive to his woman's needs.

This book was an emotional roller coaster that I did not want to put down. As a matter of fact, I didn't finish this until 3 am and I had to get ready for work at 5 am. So I am sleepy and grouchy but quite satisfied. I loved the fact that Victoria was able to get under Kip's skin and make him forget all of the suave moves of a seasoned gigilo. His attempts at professional distance and rehearsed lines flew right of the window. Vitoria's past was heart-breaking and all too real. Dealing with mental illness is one of the toughest jobs for a loved one and the emotional scars can be debilitating. I loved Kip's ability to make Victoria feel beautiful and help heal some of the scars she carried from her previous marriage. I also loved the message that we are more than our jobs and with enough faith our Hopes and Dreams can come true. This was a great read.

This is a hot, sexy, and yet delightful story. I truly enjoyed getting to know Victoria and Kip. I liked that they both had some serious reasons to avoid the relationship and yet they both wanted to try to make it work. I liked that their parting and reuniting felt more believable than some romance novels--neither character had a grand epiphany and it wasn't one person "figuring it out", but rather a series of events that led them both to see what they had to lose. I'll admit that I was a bit prudish at first--the gigolo aspect bothered me but the story and characters quickly won me over and I was able to enjoy the budding romance for who the people were, not what they did to earn money.

I was given a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another hot win from Persell! First of all, she hits on what I love most about romance: the ability to explore unique characters, careers, and situations, and see how we all have love in common. I thoroughly enjoyed Victoria and Kip’s thoroughly unconventional story. Their chemistry was off the charts: the two of them together were cute, FUN, and sexy as heck. I’m usually pretty good at spotting twists, but there was one in this story that caught me completely off guard, and it made me enjoy the story all the more. My reviews never contain spoilers so I won’t say what it is, but I will say that the fact that it caught me off guard is a testament to how well the author developed the relationship. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!

This is the first book I ever read of Micah Persell but I fell in love with the fantasy as soon as I started it. It has been days since I had wanted to complete a friction in one go. The chemistry between Kip and Veronica was sensual, hot and each page was dripping with molten romance. I loved how the author built the characters and plot without turning things cliché. I particularly loved her clever use of words to nail each and every description.

I would describe it as a Bollywood masala movie with lots of love, heat, emotions and a grand larger than life happy ending. A must read if you are looking for an erotic romance that won’t disappoint you and keep you gripped till the last page.

Wow! If you are looking for a story full of titillation and fun backed by a solid plot and engaging characters, then Hard Work is your book. I am a fan of Micah Persell's books and this did not disappoint. The heat level is at 11 in this book, full of raw sexual need and satisfaction. It's a fun twist on the 'hooker with a heart of gold' tale. Victoria and Kip are great characters with depth beyond their sexual encounters. They read as three-dimensional people and you find yourself cheering for them as the story progresses. Well done, Micah!

I loved this read. Kip is a male escort and works hard for the money he earns. After being with a client he stops for a drink. Victoria is in advertising and on the verge of making a huge deal. She stops for a drink and sees Kip. She decides to buy him a drink and they begin to flirt when he comes over to meet her. Victoria’s husband passed away two years ago and she hasn’t been with anyone since. What will happen when she finds out Kip is a gigolo? I loved the characters and the story has plenty of drama and emotion not to mention steam, I was hooked from beginning to end.

Another page-turner from Micah Persell! This book has all my favorite things: good sex, great characters, fun chemistry, and a great twist. Micah Persell excels at creating characters you just have to root for; Kip and Victoria will frustrate you, tantalize you, and have you turning pages so fast you're breathless.

I've enjoyed both of the books in the Sin City Gigolos series, although Kip is my favorite --- so far! Give this one a try!
