Charming Romance 3.5*
I enjoyed this book though I do think that I was at a slight disadvantage not having read the first two books in the series. Captain Jack Boone, now Lord Rothwell is asked by his foster mother to visit Lady Morehouse who has a magical problem. He doesn't expect when he arrives for that redoubtable lady to try and marry him off to her pregnant great niece, Alicia. However, he doesn't want to be disobliging so when Kate suggests that he marry her instead, he agrees!!! This was

Being a lover of fantasy and historical, this book was a nice surprise as it hits both of those genres in one. It was a little too tame for my tastes, both in the magical part and the romance, but the author does a nice job combining the two genres. Even though this was a series book, it held up just fine on its own. There is some fun banter between the characters and some fun with the magic tossed in. Reviewed by Cyrene

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own. I love this book!! I know I fell in love with Captain Jack Boone in the previous books but he is fantastic in this book. Jamaila Brinkley needs to keep them coming!!

Another treat

Brinkley gives us engaging characters, witty banter, and an extended family to love. Each book is distinctive and well written. They do contain explicit sexual content, which isn't quite traditional Regency. I wouldn't find them a loss, but I love the threads of magic in this alternate world.

Lovely romance with magic thrown in. Captain Boone just wants to get back to his ship. Little does he know he'll end up marrying. Enjoyable but should of read the first two, although it still was understandable. Great author ...more

This book focuses on Captain Jack. He makes small appearances in the other two books, but we get an idea of his character from what is revealed about him. He is a joker and loves his ship and sailing. He inherits/is given a title he doesn’t really want as he has no affinity with estate management. Through the involvement of others he marries very quickly to a woman he believes will be a good estate manager and companion.
They get on very well, but she is land bound while his love is the sea. Thro

The Romance Review

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

Surprising, in more ways than one!

Jack is a newly titled gentleman with an estate to run. As a captain for so many years, he is used to life at sea and knows nothing about managing a home or breeding pigs. The answer to his problem is to marry a woman with the knowledge to do what he can't so he can go back to his ship. So when the opportunity arrives, he jumps on it.

Kate hadn't planned to marry at all. Yet, when her sister falls i
