Two really smart teens are in love, but both want the other to reveal their feelings first.

That premise sounds fun, sorta, but then you think about at and wonder, if the focus is so heavily on "winning" over the other person, can they really be in love? Maybe, possibly, but I didn't really see any evidence of the kids caring about one another at all. It just seemed like they wanted to score points by having the other person want them. And they were both not at all likable. I didn't want them tog

Series Review: ★★★★☆ (Scroll down for my Volume 1 review)
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is the funniest manga/comic that I've ever read and I recommend you try it out if you're in the mood for some laughs. The characters are super-funny-lunatic-tsundere-geniuses who are super overdramatic and take everything to extremes, which is where most of the comedy stems from. This first volume didn't completely blow me away right off the bat, but I'm now completely caught up with the series and I can defini

In the battlefield that is love, who ever confesses first, loses.

The thing with romance manga set in high school is that they can get cringey and cloying. Not so with this well-written and well-drawn series that trans-mutates a teenagers' awkwardness into comedy gold. Each chapter is a riot. Be warned: you may find yourself literally rolling on the floor laughing.

Whoa, the art in the first handful of chapters is rough. One of the illustrations between chapters literally looks like the artist used one of those poseable wooden dolls as his model. Thankfully the art and the storytelling both improve quite a bit, even this early on.

The difference in mindset between "scheming to make the other confess" and "being too shy to confess and hoping the other will go first" might seem academic, but I prefer the episodes where the latter is happening. This is a cute

Kaguya Shinomiya is elite Shuchiin Academy's student council vice president. Her family is wealthy and influential, and Kaguya is a highly intelligent girl who is used to viewing every interaction as a potential power struggle. Miyuki Shirogane is the student council president. His family is neither wealthy nor influential, but he's dedicated to his studies and still manages to earn everyone's respect.

There is a rumor going around that Kaguya and Miyuki are going out. In reality, although they'r

Currently read till Volume 4.

This is a bizarre comedy, not unlike Brooklyn Nine-nine and The Office, and its HILARIOUS. What people find funny is very subjective but I found myself in fits of laughter as these loveable characters went through their wacky life. The jokes are multi-layered and truly witty and occasionally the clouds of silliness would disperse to show true depth and character development in the story.

A light-hearted, genuinely funny manga. :)
This rivals-in-love storyline had me laughing and shaking my head at the ridiculousness of these two. The story is simple - Kaguya and Miyuki are the student council heads, geniuses in an elite school and have a chip on their shoulders. The entire student body already thinks they are dating, but they are not - simply because they are waiting for the other person to make the first move. For them, it is an all-out war in psychological manipulation to make the other person confess their feelings fi ...more

Having read 6 volumes, I came back to this first volume as a big fan of this series and I gotta say: I had a blast re-reading this. When I read this the first time I thought it was pretty mediocre, but as I continued reading the series it only got even better and even funnier. It definitely helps that I'm a lot more attached to the characters now than I was when I first read this volume, so that's a big reason for my leap in enjoyment levels here. My hand automatically moved t

No sure how long I will find this non-episodic manga amusing. After this volume, I don't feel like I know any of the characters at all, making it hard to care if they ever confess their love to each other. Everything is a competition between Kaguya and Miyuki, but I don't feel invested enough in either one of them to care who wins this ultimate battle.

Pretty funny story. The male lead comes off as kind of pathetic in many ways, but I believe that is part of the humour.

this is one of the best romance/comedy manga I've read in a long time.and I've read all the current volumes but man I don't want to put all of 'em on my "read list" cuz they take this reviwe as a general vibe to all the manga.
Basic plot is about the students president and vice president having a crush on each other but are too proud to confess. a simple premise but man does the author go all the way with see these two characters bending their own back and doing everything they

Fun Rom-Com involving proud affluent Highschoolers (one is just a hard working commoner, the other an actual affluent heiress). Neither wants to back down and admit their love, and so they spin the wheels again and again, ruining their chances to come together as a couple. The comedy has a Seinfeld kind of feel to it to me in that way, a cynical perspective on love and the act of admitting your feelings as weakness.

Plot could get tiring, so I hope they maybe make them a couple, but then expand i

What a fun story!
With the genius duo that is the president and vice president, these two teenagers go head to head in a battle to get the other to confess to them. This story is full of shenanigans! Chicka is my favorite! She adds somd great moments to the series!

I don't always get round to reading manga. But I loved this one! I have started the anime so remembered some of the bits as I was reading this, but it didn't matter than I had seen it, because I still loved this. Really made me giggle. Funny storyline, with a different spin on love. ...more

The top 2 students academically the prestigious Shuchiin Academy Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya hate to lose. Having the stature that they have they are both apart of the Student Council with Shirogane being the president and Shinomiya being the vice president. Fujiwara being the secretary and Ishigami as the treasurer. That principle stands in whatever they do, including love. These two have both fallen in love but they think that whoever confesses first loses in this game called love. S ...more

I think I enjoyed this manga mostly because I watched the anime first. I think the anime brings the characters to life really well for the viewer and makes the exchanges in the manga easier to follow for the reader. I enjoy both characters and their strategies to try to win the "war" that is love. An easy read with funny enjoyable moments. ...more

Picked this series up as a kind of "buddy read" after a conversation and enjoyed it. The humor is my cup of tea, and it's just a lot of fun overall. Looking forward to seeing where/how things unfold and may have more commentary the further I get. ...more

Four and a quarter stars. This is a review of the first two volumes.

An odd one. Imagine kidnapping a less sociopathic version of Light Yagami from "Death Note", divide him into a female and a male, have them be attracted to each other and yet unwilling to admit it (because that'd mean they are losers), and have them attempting to trap each other into taking the first step. So a romantic series between two prideful, genius tsunderes. It doesn't work so much as a romance, but does as a comedy.

I fucking LOVE this series! And this volume is a strong start to the series! I didn't realize how long it is until rereading it, yet the pacing was strong and the characters engaging enough to keep the momentum going. The artwork/art style works well with the tone and story and I LOVE the character designs! I feel that each character's design fits their personality so well, which is what I look for in character designs.

One of the things I love the most about this series is the story. The idea th
