This was an unpleasant books to read because the children in the story were so unpleasant to others and to each other. Lots of bullying and peer pressure as well as gossip and prejudice. However, the main character, Rhoda, does grow and learn to stand up for herself and others.
This might be an excellent book to read with a child who need help with empathy or tends to be a bully.
