Michael Warren, a twenty-four-year-old resident of Giger, finds himself at the epicenter of this horror and is stunned by the losses suffered overnight. Then the sun sets and the shadows again ...more

Between the great cover art and thrilling blurb, I knew this could be a good book, and it was.

It seems like an ordinary night. Well, aside from the hurricane that’s blowing in, ready to devastate everything in its path. Power will go out, leaving all in darkness. But it’s no ordinary darkness. It’s taken on a life of its own. Forms attack, killing millions. The only weapon is light. And with the storm, there won’t be any once the power grids go down.

Michael isn’t prepared

A total scarefest! Definitely not for the squeamish. This takes place right before a hurricane is about to hit. Those of us who have dealt with a hurricane or are afraid of the dark, will experience real terror among these pages. Michael Warren and his friends have no idea why there are mass murders taking place at night, not just in Giger, Texas, but all over the world. You won't believe what they encounter. Many of you may want to sleep with the lights on after this.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

First off, let me just say WOAH! The creep factor is strong in this one! When the author lists Stephen King as one of his inspirations, you can definitely tell. You can feel the horror that the characters are going through. I mean, SPOILER ALERT—EVERYBODY DIES! Ok, ok, not everybody, but pretty damn close!

A funny little side note—I told my fiance that this story reminded me of Stephen King before I even knew that the autho

I dont know how to review this book. In a lot of ways I felt like it was two books.
The first part of the book felt like a mess. The author introduced what felt like 20 characters; some dead fast and others lived through the book.
It also had so much sex, I felt like I was reading a porn. I get it if theres a mood to be set or a plot purpose, but this book overdid it for sure.
The second part of the book was actually pretty good. It felt like I could settle into the story with the character

Gruesomely, edge of your seat thriller!

WOW! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this book. This is a definite 5 out of 5 stars book.

I have to commend the author he does an amazing job at writing a story that is thrilling, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, keeps your heart pumping and your mind constantly going trying to figure out what the "darkness" is that is killing everyone. There are so many characters in this book, and he is able to make each one dynamic a

When I first happened upon this book I was initially intrigued by the idea of a killer darkness. The author does a great job of keeping the story interesting and making you want to continue reading. It can get pretty gruesome in the descriptive, but I think that helped to give the story character. You are never sure about a characters fate and no one is safe. But be warned, If you are looking for a happy ending, this is not the book for you.

Even with the dreary ending, I found that I

This book will intensify your fear of the dark

Joe M. Solomon's novel, The Darkness: Giger, Texas was a nail biting thrill ride. Each character ripe with their own ghosts and demons as they battled the darkness among other things. This was a thrilling read which had me captivated from the spirited beginning to the heart-pounding chilling end. Fighting a gruesome enemy who takes advantage of the very thing you can't combat was hard enough, but the gang had the added pressure of a Hurricane Da

This read presented a lot of challenges, but facing them paid off in the end: the first third of the book offered a lot of unlikable characters (and some likeable ones) and a (for me) uncomfortable amount of sex. Once the story found its way and the monster started to reveal itself (as much as shadowy, amorphous creatures that coalesce from the very substance of the darkness can be said to reveal themselves), the story started to grab my interest by both ears. And then it gets worse in the best ...more

The darkness..

Ok, no zombies, no apocalypse. Just darkness. It's a weird kind of darkness. People are mumbling, there is a funky smell & I believe there are shapes in that darkness!
This book is kinda of scary...lots & lots of action though. Not only is the darkness descending on them, they are also in the middle of a class 3 hurricane!
The author has written some really good characters, good & Bad..but that doesn't mean all the good people are going to survive this night!

Fantastic! Hard to believe it's the author's first book!

I enjoyed this book immensely. I started reading around dinnertime and finished before bed. No stilted dialog or one-dimensional characters here. I'm an avid reader, but this kind of binge reading is normally inspired by my favorite seasoned authors. I had trouble keeping the characters straight at first, so i had to backtrack a few times. But that might be because i was in such a hurry to find out what would happen next! Can't wait for th

Makes you want more stories like this!

This book is impossible to put down once you start reading it. It's filled with twists and turns to the characters, and you never know who will make it to the end of the story. Excellent read!

A captivating book

Good book, very enthralling, with constant action and suspense. Very good character development, with heroes, heroines and people that are quite believable. The author really knows his locations and makes the most of them.

Mayhem

I gave it 4 stars because of the crude language, and sex. Also it left questions open.

It did hold my attention. I wanted to know what would happen next. I did almost quit on the first couple of chapters, but then it started making sense.

Slow but worth the read

It took me longer than usual to finish this book. It was too slow moving and not as exciting as expected.
