A passionate tale of unrequited love and second chances from New York Times bestselling author, Tess Oliver. For a long time, I thought of that kiss, the kiss that unraveled everything, the kiss that changed the course of history, as a split second decision. But there was nothing split second about an obsession. And while she might have been impetuous and wild, there sure as hell wasn't anything split second about Rebecca . . . the girl I called Rebel.Rebel Love is a standalone romance.
Tess Oliver is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Custom Culture series and a large collection of other romances. She is well known for her relatable characters who "become your friends" as you journey with them and for intriguing stories that will have you "devouring her books in just one day". Tess has been featured on USA Today's 'Happy Ever After' site, and in publications including Glamour UK and Elle UK magazines.
Win some, you lose some. Very fragmented and disjointed in writing and with back to past chapters interspersed made this difficult to read. I just could not get a feel of the characters. The book felt like an outline or first draft of a book. Like I said, Tess O. has had better. PS. Cover was excellent and actually got the "stars".
It took me a bit to get into this one, but like all Tess Oliver books I sunk into the story's pacing and enjoyed the characters immensely. Edit to say Holy Shiz to this cover!!! 😍 Love it.
This book is a great story of tragedy and love. Josh and Rebecca both have baggage, some unknown to each other. Ms. Oliver has you feeling so many different emotions while you read this one. I laughed, I cried, and was shocked and very mad! A forbidden love that couldn't happen but gets a second chance.
Rebel Love is a beautiful tale of unrequited love and tragedy! I was under Tess Oliver’s magical spell from the very first page of this AWESOME book!
Joshua was Rebecca aka Rebel’s, a nickname Joshua gave her, biggest supporter. He was her protector, and he had feelings for her that ran much deeper than friendship even if he never admitted it to her and definitely not to himself. He couldn’t see her as anything more since he was dating her older sister. But, one night and one kiss they shared changed everything. When tragedy occurred, each went their separate ways never really talking and never forgetting about each other. Years later, Rebel comes back into Joshua’s life and so do all of those feelings he had for her. Does he have the courage to risk his heart to win Rebel finally?
Wow! What a story! It’s emotional, but I loved it. Joshua found a way into my heart from the very beginning, and he never let it go. He is a good guy even though he is in love with his girlfriend’s younger sister. Things with Emily were disintegrating before he and Rebel ever shared that kiss. Oliver did a great job of including flashbacks that gave me the whole story of Joshua, Rebel, and Emily. The chemistry between Joshua and Rebel was powerful even when she was younger despite the fact that neither knew the other felt the same way. They have both grown since those early days and have grown into great adults despite their pain and loss.
Rebel is one of those unforgettable characters. Her light and passion bring so much color to the story and her aura leaps off the pages. I could easily see why Joshua fell so hard for her. She has loved him for as long as she can remember, but she never let him know because of her love for her sister. But, I have to be honest, it was always evident these two belonged together.
I have long been a fan of Tess Oliver, but this is the BEST book she has ever written. It is emotional, and she makes sure her readers will feel every single one of those emotions. The characters were powerful and pulled me right into the story. There were times I swooned, and the steam definitely heated up my Kindle. The sex scenes were definitely HOT, but they were also beautiful and symbolized the magic between Joshua and Rebel! LOVED, LOVED this book. Tess Oliver really outdid herself with this one!!!!
***Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First, right after I finished reading Rebel Love I heard this country song by Michael Ray with lyrics “Kiss a little more, think a little less”, and I immediately thought of Joshua and Rebel. It made me smile.
Okay, now let’s talk Rebel Love. Rebel Love was amazing! Rebel Love is the newest book by Tess Oliver. It is the emotional charged story of Joshua and Rebecca (AKA Rebel). First off, having Lane Dorsey on the cover was so, so greatly appreciated not only because of his obvious drool-worthy hotness, but also because the description of Joshua is the exact image of Lane Dorsey. Joshua is a hot, sexy musician, now half owner of a bar who was in a relationship with Emily since high school. Then we have Rebecca who speaks her mind. She is a beautiful, spirited, wild child, hence the name Rebel given to her by Joshua. Rebel is also Emily’s step-sister. Joshua and Rebel have become good friends who are perfectly comfortable and happy when they are around each other. I do not want to say anything more because I do not want to spoil it for everyone, but Rebel Love is such a wonderfully written love story. It is told in both past and present, but perfectly done so you are not trying to figure out the time frame. This book was so heart wrenching. I was literally crying. Rebel love will have you on such an emotional roller coaster. There are two families becoming one, relationships formed, “unrequited love”, and there are secrets, heartbreak, and oh the guilt. There is an Iron Maiden t-shirt, and the Boogeyman even makes an appearance. The chemistry along with the fantastic, sex scenes was OFF THE CHARTS. Of course, in true Tess Oliver fashion there is that WTH moment. I did not see that coming! My favorite quote by Joshua, “The moon wouldn’t be too far as long as I knew you were at the end of the journey.” SWOON! The character development was absolutely superb. Buckle up because you are in for a wild ride from beginning to end. I absolutely loved Rebel Love and highly recommend you not miss out on reading it. Thank you, Tess Oliver, for another fantastic book.
This latest book has everything you could want and then some! This book tells the story of Josh, an all alpha man who has had a few of his dreams go wrong, but still tries to do the best he can. He has a lot of baggage and you will read it in the book in a series of flashbacks that is really great, because the way it is written you get to see what happened in the past and present. This is also the story of Rebecca, otherwise know as Rebel, a nickname Josh gave Rebecca back when they were all so young. Like Josh, Rebecca has a lot of baggage also, some of it no one has heard a hint about!
I do not want to say too much, however I will say that once after not seeing each other for a few years when Josh and Rebecca see each other again, despite all their baggage and fears, they get together for a bit and they are both so happy! Josh is so loving and so sexy and the time they spend together is quality time and They both need that so much.
Unfortunately with happiness sometimes other forces rush in and try to ruin things. Will Josh and Rebecca be able to overcome their pasts to live in the future together? Will we get to see what happened in the past to send Rebecca running away from where she called home?
I love all of this author's books because the characters she writes about are regular people who find themselves in different situations, I feel like I am reading about real people and it only takes a page or two to get caught up in the excitement of the story. I appreciate that the author doesn't drag a story out to just fill pages and in the sum total of the book we get everything we need to know about the characters, fall in love with them or respect them for who they are and race to the conclusion to see what happens!
I gave this book 5*****stars and can't wait for the next book! This author, Tess Oliver has been an automatic one click for me since the beginning and I love how all series and stories are different. Thanks for awesome book Tess!!
❤️🔥REBEL LOVE...LOVE THE NAME...LOVE THE BOOK...LOVE THE COVER MODEL!!!! LOVE TESS OLIVER❤️🔥 Tess Oliver writes books I always love....and they are not always the same story with just different characters....Every book is different...but always in a good way....❤️🔥 However, REBEL LOVE, in my opinion, is VERY different in a VERY GOOD WAY ...While all of her books have many things in common......Fantastic characters, Fantastic stories and Fantastic endings....REBEL LOVE, in my opinion, shows us a different Tess Oliver!!! REBEL LOVE is sweet, endearing, still sexy as always and with the most beautiful UNREQUITED LOVE STORY I've ever read...EVER!!!....There is more love than sex in REBEL LOVE, but, don't worry, it still has plenty of heat....This is Tess at her very best!!! In REBEL LOVE, Josh and Rebecca (REBEL) are in unique positions with unique hurdles to jump, as far as their "relationship" goes and grows, and with all of the twists and turns and discoveries we learn as the story progresses,(and some are neither happy nor pretty) they are all in one of those "I didn't see that coming!!" reactions....And they really add another layer of depth to the story.❤️🔥 Plus, I'm convinced Tess has a lab in her basement where she creates these gorgeous bookcover models....There really are so many reasons that Tess's books keep us, not just interested, but so involved in them to the point that we don't sleep until the complete book is read... ❤️🔥 If anyone has learned how to put one of her books down at bedtime, please let the rest of us know...❤️🔥 REBEL LOVE is fantastic, and Tess Oliver can still surprise us!!! ❤️🌼
Rebel Love is about Rebecca and Joshua. Joshua was going to be a rock star. He was the bassist in his band, Domino Dogs, he had the rock t-shirts, and the long hair. But something happened one day to change it all. Joshua had dated Emily since high school and now Emily was in college - and still trying to change him. She didn't like his long hair or his rock t-shirts, and she figured the band was a phase he'd get over. Emily is Rebecca's older stepsister. She taught her many things, but mostly she made her feel that they really were sisters. Joshua was treated as a part of the sisters family and was close to Rebecca, whom he nicknamed Rebel. One kiss between them changed everything.
Four years later, Joshua is renovating his childhood home his father left him & his brother and he has just opened a sports bar with Dylan, Emily's brother & Rebecca's stepbrother. Rebecca's father had divorced Emily & Dylan's mom and he & Rebecca had moved to Europe. Rebecca has recently moved back to the states, got a job at an insurance company, and is living in a tiny apartment near work. Out of the blue, she calls Joshua and talks some nonsense about boogeymen, but asks him to call her by her nickname. When they see each other again after so long, it's like nothing has changed. But can they get past what happened after that kiss?
I really can't say more without giving away important information. This was another great tale from Tess, filled with angst, the unrequited love of a teenager, sweet romance, hot scenes, anger, betrayal, heartbreak, grief, and ultimately, two broken people learning to put themselves back together. I loved this second chance romance!
I loved this story the struggle of two people being in love knowing that they can't be together as it will cause pain to he people they love. This story is full of sadness, secrets, forbidden love and HEA.
This is the story of Joshua who is dating Emily but is in love with her sister Rebecca (Rebel) who is two years younger than them. Joshua and Emily are stuck they are just going through the motions but neither one can bring themselves to end there relationship but when he talks to Rebel she makes everything better they have a good relationship as friends who have a laugh with each other as well as Joshua looks out for her. Rebecca has had a crush on Joshua since they first meet he's in a rock band and she loves talking with him and having friendly fun together, he helps keep the Boogeyman away when they are around each other but one night everything changes for the worst. When they find there way back to each other they both still have demons they have to face to be able to have a future together will they both put them to rest to live Happily together as they live each other deeply.
I really enjoyed this book. It's certainly not all sweetness & light but that makes the book a better read in my opinion!!
I've seen some reviews with a few complaints about the book skipping from the past to present making it hard to follow ... I found that unfounded personally. This only happened in complete chapters which were clearly labeled 'four years ago' etc I feel if the book had been written in full chronological order it would have given the books twists away part way through, it would have ruined it. This is just my opinion on it though.
Joshua & Rebecca's relationship as childhood friends, he's her stepsisters boyfriend, is wonderful, They're clearly kindred spirits. His nickname for her is Rebel. Their pasts are marred by tragedy & they don't see each other again for several years. This is what the book is about, their past & then their present.
It's a page turner that I thoroughly enjoyed!! Tess Oliver has delivered a thoughtful, sexy, heartbreaking & at times humorous read that I'd definitely recommend!!
I was very lucky to have received an advanced copy from Tess Oliver and boy i was not Disappointed! Rebel Love is a book that felt real, there was no Billionaires, Millionaires or Big over the top Alphas it was a story of 2 Ordinary People dealing with Ordinary Peoples problems!! Joshua and Rebecca Loved each other with a Passion but never told anyone (they didn't really need to everyone could see it) but he was Dating her Sister, as always life has a way of messing with peoples lives and they have to sort through a whole myriad of Guilt, Revenge and Remorse before they can make it......But even then, they dont get their HEA yet as the Boogeyman needs slaying first!! Their timings dont seem to be in sync but now Everything is starting to make sense all thats stopping them being together is details but now they have been done theres nothing left for Joshua to do but follow his Heart and claim his Rebel, Rebel Love!!
How can one moment in time write the story of your whole life.. One kiss change the outcome of multiple lives? Well when it's true love it will... Joshua is a regular guy just trying to live his life without the one person that is his true north. Rebecca has run as far away from her demons as she can ,just to have them all come back at once, and the only person ever to silence and comfort her is Josh and it's a explosive reunion when they come face to face after 4 long years. Yet taking comfort in each won't stop the secrets and history from rearing it ugly head. Loves supposed to conquer all, but only if the people in love are strong enough to endure.... Great new read from Tess, I wasn't expecting any of the twists that are thrown at these two, or the overwhelming hurt that is felt throughout the whole story. But no fear happily ever after is always found with Tess! Five stars!
Tess Oliver has a gift at building characters in such a way that you fall in love with them. Rebel Love, her newest work, proves this all over again. Joshua is all grown-up, kind of floating through life. He had it all once, the girl, the rockstar dream, the looks but life had a differnet plan for him and things changed in an instant. He lost it all, his girl, his chance at the dream and maybe even the love of his life even though he hadn't realized it yet. Now he's grown, runs a bar with his buddy and flits from one girl to the next. Rebecca had a rough go as a kid and then she found herself with the perfect family and a truly special best friend. n a blink of an eye, she lost it all and she's been running from her past ever since. This is a story of boy and girl meet, boy and girl part, boy and girl reconnect with a ton of baggage in between them. This is a touching story, filled with passion and honest emotion. Well written with a steady growth. I loved it!
Rebel Love is another hit by Tess Oliver. This story is about a boy who protected a young girl though her teenage years...years later he will realise how much he loved this young lady. Josh is the male lead, bass player, sexy with long hair and blue eyes. Rebecca aka Rebel is the young girl who turns into a green eyed beauty. Tragedy will push these two apart only to find eachother again many years later. Secrets will be revealed but love will stand strong for Josh and Rebel. Rebel will finally get into the arms of her one true love and Josh will come to terms with the love he has been hiding for Rebecca. Take a chance on Oliver's Rebel Love you will not be disappointed. I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. Happy Reading! !
Tess Oliver is an automatic one-click author for me! She knows how to weave a story that will bring out all your emotions!! Rebel Love was no different for me!! Josh with his rockstar vibes and looks was so sweet and caring, definitely drew me in (Lane Dorsey on the cover was a perfect image of Josh in my mind!!). Rebecca a.k.a Rebel, Rebel was a cool, sweet, sassy down to earth chick hopelessly in love with someone she should not love, Josh. I loved the chemistry between the two characters and the sexiness in this book was so hot!! There was some shocking twist that hurt me heart!! Definitely a-don't-want-to-put-down-till-the-very-end book!!
Arc generously provided by author for honest review
I didn’t consider REBEL LOVE a second chance story, but there is a history. Secrets, years and miles have caused a separation. I loved the protective nature that Josh had for his girlfriend’s (Emily) step-sister Rebecca! It reminded me of a story my Dad use to tell of the little sister to the girl he dated, when he would bring her a stick of gum. When you date/marry someone, you get their family too! Josh was a part of Emily’s blended family! Was I the only one sitting on the edge of my seat thru the entire story, knowing that there had to be something underlying; a secret or two? Well written, intriguing. It’s a storyline that makes you go back and think and then want to read it again! *I am glad to submit my honest review of the advanced reader copy I received of Rebel Love*
Tess never disappoints. Another brilliant romance with characters you feel like you know. A story of crushes, tragedy and finally HEA. Rebecca has loved Josh since he started dating her step sister. She was younger and his crush developed on her as time passed. Emily and Josh were a couple so long that it was assumed they would marry. Josh knew that wouldn't happen since Em wanted to change his rocker ways when he joined his band. Rebel was his nickname for Rebecca and she lived up to it. Ago knew that years after the accident that changed their lives, and ended one, they would again meet.
Wow!! Tess really did it this time!!! I absolutely loved this book!! It has some drama and some hot sexy action in there too lol it definitely gave me all the feels! I never saw the twist towards the end coming!!! Wow!! Definitely don't miss out on this book it was soooooo worth the read!! I recommend it 100%!! I received an arc in exchange for my review but downloaded the book also cos it was that good!! Thank you Tess Oliver for an amazing read!!
Rebel Love is another GREAT romance by Tess Oliver. I received my ARC and am voluntarily reviewing it. This is a poignant love story with more twists and turns to get through to the forever love that Rebecca and Joshua have for each other. It's about fighting the guilt their love generates and the heartaches in between despite their absolute attraction. Tess is always on the mark with her romances, but this just might be my favorite one so far. Don't pass up the chance to read this book. You won't be disappointed!
Joshua is such a good guy. Even his conflicting feelings leave you hurting for him, not berating him for living both girls. Rebel, she was so genuinely good that she punished herself for causing hurt to others. She even kept a horrible secret, sacrificing herself for her dad. I wasn't completely convinced that Josh was over Emily. I do wonder how far he would have gone with Emily if fate hasn't stepped in. An epilogue with a peek into their future would have been welcome.
Rebel Love was another enjoyable read from Tess Oliver and a great way to spend a couple of hours. Rebel Love was a sweet love story spanning a number of years and the story unfolds between the present and flashbacks from the past. The story had me hooked from the start and the characters are likeable and have great chemistry. This was a lovely story with an edge of suspense added to the mix. I would have loved some elements of the story to have been expanded on and a little deeper but overall I enjoyed this one.
I loved this book! Josh and Rebel were perfect for each other. He was such a great guy, a good hearted soul and loyal to a fault. And sexy as hell!! No spoilers, but I'm glad that he and Rebecca finally got to clear things up. She was kick ass and kept so much inside. I saw the twist coming, but it didn't lessen the impact of the story at all. I read this when it first came out as the cover grabbed me (don't I wish😁) but this story has stayed with me and I look forward to reading it again. Highly recommend!!!
Rebel Love, a sweet romance entwined with hidden feelings, the history of two connected souls, a need for revenge and a second chance.
Rebecca Abvak, a little wild, a little broken, she's know for being a bit of a free spirit, but deep down Rebecca is hiding a dark secret, guilt from the past, and a need to right everything that turned her world upside down. One of the only things Rebecca has wanted to remember of the past, was the bond she shared with Josh Hardy, a kindred soul, they shared a friendship that made her long for more. But he was always out of reach and off limits. But that didn't stop her from being drawn in, a musician, the long hair, and his charming smile. Years may have passed since the days of their friendship, but crossing paths again, it feels like the time never passed between them. And being older, and in different places, Rebecca wonders if the bond, they undeniably still share, could grow stronger, or will the guilt they both carry, hinder a chance at something more?
Josh Hardy, has come a long way since his days of dreaming of music and being in a band. Now his days and nights consist of running his bar, and trying not to remember the scars that mark his hands. The ones that represent so much of the guilt that he still carries on his shoulders. And the day that replays in his mind. Lately Josh's days have come pretty routine, and he feels he's missing something, and that something just may be his Rebel. With Rebecca Abvak, showing back up in his life, he finds being around her is string up all the feelings he's tried to keep hidden. And Josh wonders if now is the perfect time to reveal what he's felt, all these years, or will the ghosts of the past, and the mistakes made long ago, hold him back. Hold them back.
Rebecca, Josh, their journey, is passionate, gripping, sad, and filled with hope. Tess Oliver weaves a story that grabs your attention, you'll feel the characters pain, their longing, and you will be rooting for their love story. Wounded and sexy bad boy Josh, with his sweetness and wicked mouth, Rebel, with her strong personality, a fighter, with a touch of reckless, sassiness, and a whole lot of passion, make for a couple that you want more of. Josh and Rebecca, and the story they share is achingly beautiful, and one sexy ride.
I enjoyed this book. What I didn't like was how Rebel and Joshua put Emily on a pedestal. Emily knew what her brother Dylan was doing to Rebel, but she turned a blind eye and if Emily was so in love with Joshua she would not have been trying to change him into something she wanted because to her, he wasn't good enough just as is. Am not saying they shouldn't have loved her, but she had faults just like everyone else.
Once again Tess Oliver has shown why I don't think I just one click her book. This is about Rebecca (Rebel) and Josh and the twists and turns they go through to reconnect. I love this second chance at love and the history of the characters. I can't wait to see what Tess has coming next.
Josh and Rebecca have a deep connection but haven't seen each other in 4 years since a tragic event changed the course of their lives. I enjoyed reading about them reconnecting and getting their back story. There were a couple of twists that added angst to the story but the characters were down to earth and I felt they handled them well.
Without a doubt the best of Tess Oliver. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. Beautiful, heart breaking, happy, fun, laughter, anger. Yeah, you get it. This book was all those things ands more.
I normally really enjoy tess oliver books but this one was lacking. The storyline was choppy and you could see how and what was going to happen way before it did. Definitely not her best writing and it lacked the normal "flare".
