Women of every culture and society are facing the dilemma of identity. Traditional views of what it means to be a woman and changing cultural and marital roles are causing women conflict in their relationships with men. In this expanded edition of Understanding the Purpose and Power of Women, now with helpful study questions following each chapter, best-selling author Dr. Myles Munroe examines societies’ attitudes toward women and addresses vital issues such as: Are women and men equal? How is a woman unique from a man? What does the Bible really teach about women? Is the woman to blame for the fall of mankind? What are the purpose and design of the woman? Should women be in leadership? What is a woman’s basic communication style? What are a woman’s emotional and sexual needs? What is a woman’s potential? To live successfully in the world, women need a new awareness of who they are and new skills to meet today’s challenges. Whether you are a woman or a man, married or single, this book will help you to understand the woman as she was meant to be.

This is a phenomenal book!!! I absorbed the information like a sponge. So important for us to know our purpose and live according to Gods design for your lives. This book impacted my life in so many ways. I have a clearer perspective of my purpose as a woman and thank God I read this book before marriage
I paced myself while reading this book because I wanted to make sure I absorbed and grasped everything that Dr. Munroe said. This book is phenomenal! I suggest both women and men read this book, learn, absorb and practice the information given and share it with others.
This was truly an amazing book. A woman learns her true value, and her equality to man, if she's not already in tuned with this aspect of her existence. It truly helps her to see herself as God sees her.
Dr. Munroe opens the floor to have a difficult but necessary conversation with this one. He discusses the role/purpose of both men and women, sans cultural influences, but in the way that God purposed it from the very beginning. Not taking a side, no personal biases and opinions but pure Bible teaching on the woman’s design and purpose and how men are to relate to her (and vice versa). Great book. Highly recommended. A must read!
Dr. Munroe had a unique way of breaking things down in simplistic form. He drops so many gems in this book. It definitely gave me things to consider and want to improve upon.
It helps you to understand the original make-up of a woman and her role as a leader, a wife, a mother and her capacity to impact a man, a child and even a nation. It is profoundly insightful. In fact, I was so impacted by it, I brought several to give away.
I intended to reread this book but just couldnt do it. I sort of skimmed through, dust some cobwebs in my head and moved on. So officially I've read it 1 & 1/2 times or maybe 1 & 1/8 lol. What I should say however is that it was good the first time around!
A load of great stuff, but, he took so long to get to the point, considering I've already read its counterpart for males (a lot of stuff is repeated) it was quite a tedious read... But still had a lot of good stuff
A good read for (christian) men seeking to learn and understand the differences with men and women. Good for persons both in a relationship abd single.
I come from a 3rd World country where socialites (slay queens) are the role models for young girls. The lady who can bleach and lighten her skin most, who has the biggest tush or most curvaceous body, who can fleece men the most, who wears the most expensive stilettos or flashiest jewellery, who makes all men drool when she walks past them due to her scanty and very revealing mode of dressing and lastly, who causes the most drama all over social media. It is an unfortunate state of affairs as you can see.
Nevertheless, there is hope as God always preserves His people; those who trust in Him. There still very respectable and accomplished women in this same country that young ladies can admire and emulate. This book, if it was up to me, would be made a compulsory read in school for women, chiefly, and men. So much misunderstanding between the sexes is a result of failure to understand how each was wired by God. If men understood albeit slightly how women are tailored, fights, breakups, wife battering and divorce rates would significantly reduce.
It is my desire that every woman (and man) worth their salt would read, internalize and strive to assimilate the principles postulated in this book into their lives. Women will not only discover and fulfill their purpose but a more harmonious and unified society where men and women work together (and not against each other) for noble causes will be achieved.
The man has position-power, and the woman has influence-power.
Influence-power may be more subtle and quiet than position-power, but it has a potent effect. Satan understood this influence. The fall of man resulted from the serpent’s interference with influence leadership. Satan went to the influence-power to get at the position-power. He has not changed his tactic since, because it worked so well.
Position-power announces itself. Influence-power just comes in and controls things. By the time you realize its presence, it has already taken over.
A woman is more dangerous because hers is a silent power. Influence-power is a tremendous gift from God that was intended to be used by women for good – for the good of themselves, their families, their communities, their nations, the world, and the kingdom of God. Yet women have to realize its potential for evil as well as for good. Even redeemed women have to be careful to discipline their influence-power.
The woman’s first place is God (Proverbs 31) “Don’t neglect your relationship with God, and don’t forget to develop His character in your inner being as you go about your extremely busy life.”
God created the woman to have His moral characteristics within her inner being. She was designed to act and function as God does, in love and grace.
This is a difficult topic to tackle first because Dr Myles Munroe is not a woman and is a third party to the experience. It's an emotional issue that has been taken hostage by various movements. So where is the truth? He has some deep dives into scripture that are seminal and groundbreaking ways of looking at the issue. The female-man and the male-man was one of them. That in the end, God's purpose needs to be examined in order to understand the role of a woman
Some chapters I was surprised to find in the book like whether women should be in leadership but understood the audience for that is those who need to settle that q in their minds. They exist in large numbers but it is no longer safe for them to air this view openly.
It is still hard to imagine a male-man capturing the female-man's experience adequately. I suppose it is the same with the male-man, who probably finds the female-man a little alien in some ways.
Five stars for even attempting to handle this topic
This book was pretty good. It helped me understand the purpose and power of being woman. The reflection questions and prayer points really helped. I really got closer to God in my time reading and studying from this book. Not only does it discuss women but it discusses the differences between men and women. It’s similar to a “men are from mars, women are from Venus” but with a biblical perspective. I’m curious how the book on men reads. I was hoping this book would go deeper on the feminine aspect but I guess you would need a woman author for that. Overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
"A woman is an incubator for all things. She is the research n development department. She can give you a business plan, if you just give her a business idea.
Often what a woman gives, is what the man gave her before, just multiplied.
A woman will incubate a man's words... "here comes the baby! Surprise!"
A woman wants your money, so she can multiply it.
If a man wants something prayed about, he should ask a woman. She will pray about it relentlessly, until she gets a solution.
A woman is a: reflector, enhancer, life giver.
Women are emotional feelers. Men are logical thinkers. "
- only a portion of the best words from this work. Highly recommend for all women and men alike
I’m not really one to write reviews about anything I’ve read. However, this time I will make the exception. This is a book that everyone needs to read. Women need to read this to understand their purpose and men need to read it to understand how women were designed. It will go a long way to help in male-female relationship that we all understand the purpose and design of women. For if you do not understand the purpose for which a thing was created you will misuse and mistreat it. Will definitely reread it next year. I’ve learned so much ❤️
I honestly think this book was amazing. The way in which he carefully constructed each chapter to lead into the next. It was firmly rooted in scripture with a holistic exegesis and spoke clearly from Gods heart for women. Truly does provide an understanding of women for ourselves as well as for men. Many of the things he expounded on confirmed or gave clear language to the things the Holy Spirt has been teaching and healing in me since I gave my life to Christ. I would recommend this to any man or woman of God and I’m excited to read the version about men.
I very much enjoyed this book. However, I have to disagree concerning topics of sexuality. Furthermore, I was not overly joyed with the many roles assumed to be belonging souly to the woman. For example, making dresses or picking children up from school. Knowing that it was not Dr. Monroe’s intention to put women in these traditionally feminine categories. I will give this book 4 stars.
This book took me a huge amount of time to read and then reread. Because of the conflict against our societal views of the relationship between a man and a women and what Dr Myles Munroe declares is true. I was able to see the truth especially, in the behaviour of myself as a women and drew out that the same identified for men would be true. It taught me how to empowering myself and other women around me.
Let your mind be renewed by the truths that is written in this book. In our society, its easy to take on labels that the world gives us. Or labels we have given our self because of our shortcomings and mistakes. But the great news is that God does not look at his daughters through our errors. He looks at through mercy and grace. I hope you find encouragement by reading this book.
This book is worth the study because where the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is eminent.
Don't confuse the 'earth suit' with the spirit man within the body. Both men and women were born to have dominion and relationship with God.
Women, read this book to discover how to lead as joint heirs of the kingdom and find your place in God. Men, read this book to realise how a 'help meet' can enrich your purpose and life.
