My photo was taken on the dock in Liverpool, England, in front of a modern sculpture of a “lamb-banana,” the artist’s whimsical cross between a lamb and a banana. This was shortly before an emotional trip to the boyhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

O poveste drăguță, spumoasă și o reală surpriză.
Jayne hotărăște c-a sosit momentul să plece în căutarea fratelui dispărut cu peste treisprezece ani în urmă. Scapă astfel de familia toxică și de domnul Levănțică.
Andrew înoată în ape înșelătoare dar reușește de fiecare dată să ajungă la țărm teafăr. Nu se leagă cu femei, nu-și ia belele pe cap. Asta până în momentul în care bruneta glacială îi întoarce lumea cu susu-n jos.
Cum necum vor face călătoria peste mări și țări împreună, fiecare urmându-și interesul dar totodată frustrat de pumnul din gât. Trecuturile i-au învățat niște lecții care acum le stau împotrivă și n-au suficient curaj să le depășească.
Mi-a plăcut mult povestea, caracterele personajelor se înfruntă până ies scântei iar replicile sunt de-a dreptul delicioase. Călătoria este bine pusă-n schemă, descrierile îmbinându-se perfect cu legendele și cutumele orientale. Acesta este un plus uriaș de fapt. Despre povestea de iubire am doar cuvinte de laudă, neașteptat de drăguță și realistă. În ciuda vârstei și trecutului sunt imaturi emoțional dar reușesc să-și găsească calea împreună. Dulce și credibil.
Minusul uriaș vine de la partea de historical. Anii 1900 n-au permis atâtea drepturi femeilor, indiferent de statutul social. Divorțuri nenumărate, libertăți neînchipuite, etc. ies cu siguranță din discuție. Și încă un aspect sâcâitor și fără logică, momentul dansului pentru Andrew, pus în scenă de către Merina. Ea-și dorea să scape de Jayne dar îi compromite acesteia “biletul” de plecare. N-are niciun sens.
În concluzie, dacă vă plac siropoșeniile, n-o evitați. Merită.

One of my favorite books of all time. My heart stopped many times - not only because of the tremendous chemistry between hero and heroine, but because of the entire story. So many twists and surprises! Twenty stars if I could. And yes, Captain MacGregor, just yes.

Author has no understanding of the time period she wrote in, and what would happen to a woman traveling alone and to an eastern country. This was forcing the reader to suspend all logical thinking and accept all sorts of historical errors...including a mother who had multiple divorces. At this time period, woman couldn't get a divorcee...only the men, unless there was some major problem...like a spouses treason. Once a divorcee happened no matter the cause, the female was ruined. The minute this female charactered arrived unescorted in Turkey, she'd have disapeared into some white slavers stock. I really didn't enjoy this book. Lots of it is very infantial. I will try to avoid this writer in the future. I am a disabled USAF vet, so sometimes I end up in the hospital and there is a limited choice of "female" oriented books to read....I get stuck with "bad" books or watching four walls. I would suggest to anyone who has books they want to get rid of, to remember Veteran Hospitals and clinics. You can always drop books off at the info desk. There are always male oriented books available, but there is seldom anything for the gals. I know they would appreciate it.

Отдавна не бях чела исторически любовен роман и ми хареса. Леко, неангажиращо и в същото време героите бяха добре развити, техните характери - описани. Книгата може да се нарече приключенска. Става дума за любовта между един морски вълк - капитан на кораб и горда американска наследничка, която тръгва да търси изгубеният си брат в пустините на Африка. Увлекателно е написана, но е препоръчително да се чете като приказка.
