Forbidden Thirteen

The number thirteen follows Aria Elle Walker like a bulldog. Lucky or unlucky, it triggers her telekinesis in freaky ways. In an era of banned magic, it could get her jailed…or worse.

One Friday the 13th, Aria’s telekinesis goes wild and she accidentally kills a bounty hunter in her home. Before her freakout begins, in walks Ronan Riley, another “thirteen” telekinetic, and his doppelgänger—a dying Forbidden fairy. Hells bells, everyone knows fairies and the Forbidden are extinct!

After claiming she’s the gateway “key” to releasing ancient magic into the world, the doppelgängers whisk Aria away from the goons Ronan’s father hired to snag her. Dodging bounty hunters and screwy magic, the trio race to fix the damaged Rift before tainted magic kills the doppelgängers…or opens the floodgates to abolished magic. But Aria never expected their desperate alliance to generate a force of a different kind...an uncanny bond and undeniable desire for both doppelgängers.

Destroying Ronan’s father, the mastermind behind the mayhem, is just icing on Aria’s chaos cake. If her luck cooperates and doesn’t kill her first, that is. And will unluck add Ronan to the body count after he betrays Aria?

Forbidden 13 Review

Forbidden 13 is a full length novel by Erin Richards. In this book we are introduced to a variety of characters who have telekinetic and psychic powers. To have these abilities is illegal in this government and if you are found to have these abilities the government hunts you down, experiments on you or just kills you because they fear what you can potentially do. Aria has managed to stay under the radar because of the strength of her abilities but as luck would have it her bad luck day has struck and struck hard. From a disastrous date with an idiot and having to take him to the hospital to coming home and danger having invaded her place. Now she is on the run because she is being hunted for her blood and her abilities. She's not alone though. She has some help from Ronan and his doppelganger. Aria is in danger because Ronan's dad is hunting high and low for her. He has people on her trail and now his son's since he was supposed to bring her in. Now they must work together to stop him because he is intent on opening the portals that the government sealed up to try and put an end to magic. Ronan's father intends to use them to open the gates and bring back the Forbidden 13 so that he can control them and manipulate the magic. The world will be in danger if he succeeds.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really liked the idea of it. This book has a lot of great elements to it but I felt that it lost momentum in places and I'd lose interest for a bit. I love the dynamics of the characters and the multitude of problems that they must face from each other and from the outside forces that they are fighting against in an attempt to save the world. I love how well the superstition element is brought in and brought to life with the "unlucky 13." It really works and makes this story really engaging.
This story isn't action packed from start to finish but there are some parts that I thought could have been cut out and would have helped the story stay engaging. This is a fun read but when the pace slows down I lose interest. The book would regain my interest as I read a long and so overall I really enjoyed it.
This is a massive boxed set so I say this...find a story you want to read, settle in and get comfortable. You won't want to put it down.

Supernatural outstanding read!
Numbers of various sorts have always been ascribed with either good luck or bad luck, the variations between how they are viewed is very diverse between different cultures. A number that is evidently and commonly known as bad luck is the number 13. More so for some than for others. In this gem of a book we get to meet a highly interesting person with more than just a wee bit of things happening around this specific number. In a vivid spectacular tale, the reader get brought along in a amazing way. Tremendously well developed plot, characters that feel like you know them, and a added suspence twist that keeps the reader on the toes on whos who. With a well and logically added supernatural flavour that comes around as:" could almost be true" its a book you really dont wanna miss.
I can absolutly associate with the lead character and a contributing fact might be im born 13:13, lived on a street in house number 13, postalcode ending in...13.. needless to say i cracked a whole lot of smiles in recognition.
I warmly recommend this book as a out of the ordinary supernaturally unique read in all the best ways.

A well written story that is captivating enough to keep you turning pages. There is a good build up of characters and the relationships throughout the story work well together be it good or bad. I look forward to seeing how the characters grow.
I received a complimentary copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I loved this book. Aria and Ronan are on the run to get away and stop evil. But, they have a special bond. I love these type of stories. Suspense, psychic, lust and love all rolled into one great story. I could not put this book down.

1⭐️ goodness, the ONLY character in this entire book that I REMOTELY liked was the dog. I would have been happy to read a story about her (until we got to the end of the story, no spoilers, but she really lost my interest). As for the rest? They are just rinse and repeat. How many times can the h say 'my life used to be boring, and now it's a nut house?' Only so many right?... WRONG! It turns out it can be whined about in multiple ways... repeatedly... forever... and ever... and ever. If someone culled phases similar to that and in reference to 'I want them both, but can't have them both' from the book, it would likely no longer have enough pages left to be classified as a book. There's heaps of circle work, ignoring the obvious and being TSTL. And on the pet front, it's a bug bear of mine when authors pretend to write animals into the story, but then neglect or even 'vanish' the animals when they aren't easy to writing into a scene, but then they are back out of nowhere cause it will add something to this paragraph. Best way to describe this one is hollow... with several points forever echoing throughout.

13 is a number that can be both good or bad for someone. For Aria it tends to bring out her powers. Yup powers... See she is actually magical and doesn't know it until two hot guys show up and show her the way. You may be wondering, but no this isn't a 2 guys 1 girl story. Sure a love triangle is inevitable but it does get resolved.

In that time we get an adventure, magic, romance, and plots upon plots. One can never know till the end who is on which side and where to put your trust.

Truly this was a well written and inviting story with all the fantasy elements one could want.
