Mohammed Al-Azidi was finally facing the trial he deserved for terrorist attacks he had been involved in but being a powerful man he had powerful contacts who were determined to put an end to the trial and free him on a technicality. High flying lawyer Mark Lucas King new that this was the case that would put him close to the top of his field and make him a name to be remembered. Unfortunately a highly skilful assassin has other idea’s, not just for him but for his family too.
His career in ruins and family life destroyed King sets off in pursuit of revenge where his Sandhurst Military training soon comes back to him, even if it was unfinished. First he has to find out if there is a connection between the hitman and the terrorist.
This book for me had a bit of a Liam Neeson feel about it, a sort of quiet guy wanting to get on with life and enjoy his time with his family but boy if you cross him he turns into a bit of a James Bond with attitude and a deadly knowledge of weapons and chemicals far beyond any normally trained army bloke. There are lots on chases and surprising mysteries in this book to keep you entertained.
There is a second book in the making too so watch and listen for it’s release in the future and hopefully get a little more background on King too.

Unimpressive
Before starting this review, I should state that I have huge respect for anyone who even attempts to write a book, let alone finish one. I have tried and failed so know how difficult it is. Having said that I also have to state that readers expect honest reviews. Different reviewers will have different tastes and will enjoy different genres but I hope that all reviewers will recognise and appreciate the quality of writing whether they actually enjoy the subject matter.
Mark King is a high-profile lawyer who has been asked to prosecute an equally high-profile terrorist – someone Mark has been chasing for years. However, his life falls apart through a combination of his own actions and those of others. To say more would be to introduce spoilers but those actions lead to King taking matters into his own hands and leaving his career to pursue the bad guys.
At this point, I should add that I only read 40% of the book and had to struggle to do that before giving up in frustration and not a little despair. Mark King is not a likeable character. He has very few redeeming features and comes across as an arrogant individual with an over-inflated view of his own qualities. If that were my only criticism I would have continued to read the book. Unfortunately, the writing itself was wooden and unimpressive. There were too many pages describing his actions which included very few passages which added to the emotion or tension. On occasions, there was a far too much useless description which added little if anything to the story and at others too little description when I was screaming for more detail.
The plot was on paper a good one and I very much hoped that I would be carried along to an explosive conclusion but it was not to be. Many of King’s actions were totally illogical. For instance, why did he believe his life was in danger? Despite the horrendous events I could see nothing which would lead him to reach this conclusion. He also seemed to have superpowers being able to Google where he could find a source of radioactive material and then being able to break in to steal some.
It is appropriate to make clear that the copy I was given was an uncorrected proof. However, the author has commented online that he has spent a good deal of time changing and polishing the story so I can only presume that the copy I read was very close to the finished article.
The book barely earned the 2-star rating but I have never given 1 star and didn’t want to start now.

Hit has an extremely intriguing plot line that throws you into the action from the very start!
The author has an easy style of writing that makes the book one you can keep up with but faced paced enough that you won’t lose interest. The plot reminds me somewhat of “Taken” with the idea of an unassuming man being dangerous when his family is threatened.
It won’t take you long to get through this book when you start reading and I cannot wait for the next instalment

This is the first book in the Mark King Series and I found it full of twists and turns. A man called Mark King wants to get revenge on whoever has sent his life into turmoil and killed his wife. It could be to do with his job but no one knows just yet. He needs to find out who killed his wife and why someone wants him dead. He has a hit list of people and he wants them dead. I loved reading about the way he sets up base and how he kills off each person differently. It is a fairly quick read and one I could not put down. The ending was brilliant. I look forward to the next book.

Fast paced,gripping and gritty.
A fabulous first book from a new author who is bound to go far! From the first page I was hooked and this book is one you cannot put down. King is a down to earth character sucked into a sordid underground where life is seldom what it seems and who you know is closely linked to what will kill you,or damage those you love. Five stars to this new author who is ready to take the world by storm. Cannot wait for the next one. Highly recommended.
