Put together as a podcast series, I listened to this as a freebie offering from Audible. It’s written and presented by Geoff White, a British investigative journalist working in the technology field, and it delves into the hidden dark side of the internet: who uses it and for what purpose.
The Dark Web is essentially an area of the internet, accessible via a non-standard browser, that offers anonymity to users. There’s no Google style search engine, instead you have to know specific site ...more

I really enjoyed The Dark Web.
I found the podcasts interesting and informative. I know of the dark web and cyber-crime but just in passing, I’ve never used the dark web (would not have a clue how to) and never looked into this extensively.
Some interesting debates and questions were raised each episode.
How dangerous is the dark web?
Should people be allowed to use sites such as Tor to hide their identity online?
How much of the dark web is used and ...more

This is another free audible original audio book.
This is all about the dark web, as the name suggests. It's broken into 10 or so 30 minute chapters which discuss a different aspect of the dark web.
Topics discovered included; porn, bitcoin, firearms and drugs (obvious trigger warnings)
It was really interesting and fascinating. I learnt somethings I didn't know before like the origins of the dark web and bitcoin.

This is a shocking audio book, but t gives you such an insight into The dark Web and how so many use it today. How an under world of crime, drug pedophiles work and the people that hack into our computers and world business.. totally enjoyed this audio book well worth a listen. You will be shocked at what is happening right now.

We all use the internet - we're using it right now - but do we really know what we're using? Can we really trust that we're safe?
We all love the internet for various reasons, but the sad truth is this: the internet is safe only until it's not. The internet is that friend that we've all been hurt by at some time or other. We want to put our trust in it and believe it won't hurt us again but with so many viruses and malware out there, let's face it, it's only a matter of time until it betrays our ...more

Wow! I really enjoyed listening to this one! I found it very fascinating and liked that they moved around so many topics, but all of them circling back to the main theme. This was by far my favorite Audible Originals series and hope the make a season two one of these days. I like how it talked about the good and bad sides of the dark web and the narrator journalist was very good through the entire series. I wish they could have focused more on the good side of it to even it out a bit, with some

After watching the movie: Unfriend: Dark Web, I would like to know more about the dark web...in a secure way. Then I found this audiobook on Audible: The Dark Web, by Geoff White, Bernard P. Achampong, which I think is the best non-fiction book about the dark web. The writer, Geoff White, a tech writer and broadcaster, who reveals a vivid underworld of the internet with the solid investigations. You can literally hear the interview with real hackers and drug dealers, gun runners and police on an

This is not what I would call a deep dive into the dark web, but for a layman such as myself it is very informative.
There are many pieces of interviews that I wish had included more, and a lot of depth I would have liked to see.
However, I understand the need to keep much of it vague as the last thing you want to do with a program like this is show people how to get to the darker places in the dark web.

An interesting short documentary series about a subject I knew little about. I wouldn't say that I'm now an expert in any sense of the word, however I do feel I have a better grasp of what the dark web is and what it isn't. The history behind it is fascinating and the way that it is used now is also very interesting. A good listen and really quite well done.
I'd have been happier if it had been a little longer with some subjects clever into a bit deeper, but overall quite good.

Very insightful read on The Dark Web - I didn't have a complete understanding of some of the concepts (specifically of the "Silk Road" and Tor) but this was a great introduction to learn about some of the foundational pieces which led to the Dark Web.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book (as well as the last chapter (which was more of a podcast/forum with a group of individuals with differing opinions on The Dark Web and the future).

Interesting analysis and an essay about the Dark Web, but I do believe the reporter is biased from the beginning and directs not only his study but his conclusion toward something he already believes. Among other things, this is shown in the drama at the beginning of every episode, which is very alarming and focused toward the worst possible image.
Still, it's very informative if you listen intently.

This was definitely an eye opener and also a confirmation of what was suspected I guess. I really enjoyed the insight which broadened my novice idea about the web and what it can achieve. Also the damage it can inflict even with malware. There is always someone out there more intelligent than the last programmer or hacker. Amazing!

Journalist exploration of dark web topics. You won't learn how to do all the 'things'. But you get some great insights on some of the events and processes of activities that may go on accessing the dark web. This leads me to contemplate about white hat vs black hat hackers.. and for that matter the fringe area that grey hat hackers may have to wrestle with from time to time.

I am not sure what audience this was aimed at given the proliferation of articles, documentaries and books on the subject matter. This feels like an evening course that someone with no knowledge of the subject would be interested in. Huge potential - but poor execution.
