I don't even know what to say about this aside from it was not good. The male lead was a prudish dolt. The female lead was sweet but had very little back bone. Celia and all of their meddlesome friends were annoying.
I could go on but this review lists my issues so well.

Things that made no sense:

The H/h being 'trapped' in the country for three months because their friends stole the wheels from their carriage. It was the early 1800s so a mail coach would hav
It's like The Earl's Inconvenient Wife but the mentioned novel is better and the male leading character has better manners.

For someone who claims to be a decent, honorable man, Corin St. George had shown it by being childish, rude and saying things that shouldn't be mentioned in front of a child and where the servants could hear it. Hypocrite.

And he was sooo freaking prude that one might think he was gay. He was more over dramatic and worse than Malcolm Jasper (His Wicked Lady). Candace wanted

If It Takes A Scandal by Ruth Ann Nordin is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Nordin has delivered a well-written book. Due to the actions of others, Corin and Candace are thrown into a scandal and forced to marry. Their story is loaded with action, suspense, humor, spice and drama. The characters in this book are phenomenal and perfect for this story. I enjoyed reading If It Takes A Scandal and look forward to reading more from Ruth Ann Nordin soon. If It Takes A Scandal is book 4 of the Marri ...more

Setting: Mostly 1819
Hero: Corin- Focused on getting estate in good financial standing , doesn't trust woman with money
Heroine: Candance- A widow form a evil /mean husband, good reason not to wish to marry again.
plot/storyline:4.5* 10 months after their marriage of convenience due to a scandal. They both had misunderstandings of what happen in the scandal they were involved in they blamed each other for it and went their seperate ways. Friends(his) intervene and had them stra

Not my favorite.

This book was okay but not my favorite. The interaction between characters is decent. Rueben is not your typical eight-year-old. His mannerisms are much too adult. He just doesn't came across as a normal child of this time period. Corin is a man who assumes that he knows Candance better than his family and friends. That guy finds himself experiencing a rude awakening when Daphne and Reuben have formed strong connections with her. Love isn't always easy or magical. Sometimes it's

4.5 stars. I've been looking forward to getting to know Candace. Her past has been one of cruelty and she's finally found peace in being a widow. I understand her angry reaction to losing that freedom and her assumptions about Corin. Corin is equally angry. He's so sure that she's just as deceptive as Celia. I did like that he realized that he was wrong and set about fixing the situation. Corin impressed me even more with his love and devotion to his brother and his realization that both of his ...more

Ruth is my 'go to' author when my brain is fried and I don't want to think too much. I just have so much fun reading her books ! I laughed for ages when I got near the end of chapter 8 ! Corin is so cute as a hero. This author's writing style is simple, straight to the point and easy to read. 3.5 happy stars.

Truly terrible

Good writing - absolutely terrible storyline. Couldn't even finish more than 30%. Hero is a brat. Frankly, kept wishing heroine would kill him to shut him up. If you like strong heroes with interesting character in your romance, DON'T read this book.

I didn't care for the book. I know part of it was because I really wasn't interested in Colin. He seemed to whiny to be a good protagonist.

I have read other books by Ms. Nordin. This one just doesn't seem to me to be as good as the others.

I enjoyed the book very much. Very well written. Sometimes you want to shake things up. I love the way the interact between themselves. But always love wins out. I really did enjoyed it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys regency novels.

What's to say? I write a lot. I read often. I sleep little. Once in awhile, I've been known to clean the house. A number of kids live in my house and there's this guy they call dad and I call husband. All in all, it's a pretty good life. :-)
