It was cute, I like the idea of a bad boy corrupting the nice girl. The way the relationship grew was well done if not totally obvious. But I’m ok with that.

The books name is really catching your attention. The name fits the story. Slade was a fucker. Well, at least at the beginning. And slowly he showed his other side, that caught Cassies attention. It was entertaining to watch how Cassie and Slade gone from animosity to friendly neighbours to friends and then added benefits. I think there is something about the rumours, that this two houses brings couples together.
But despite that they entertained me, I also... Well, I can't name it. It wasn't exactly irritation or annoyance. But I couldn't help but snort and roll my eyes every time at Slade and Cassie, when they played 'lie to yourself' game. They so often denied their growing feelings, it wasn't even funny. But what was funny, that they played 'it's just fun' game, while all their actions were something more, something special. Maybe me looking from outside, was why I could see it. And I guess, what they both went through their lifes affected their view on love, marriage and all about it. But also it's sad that they would give up reaching theirs dream just because of the first stone on their path. Well, I guess then they were lucky that they got magic houses, that somehow, someway made them to see magic in love.

Cassie Love despises her neighbor, he is crass, has sex all over his backyard so she can hear, and is everything she doesn't want in her life. Slade Coal doesn't know what it is about Cassie but he has been trying to get a rise out of her and it has not brought the best out of him while he is doing it. Deciding his interest is peaked enough he decides to pursue Cassie as a friend, but it soon becomes as a lover. Slade though is a man who said he would never commit but letting Cassie go is proving to be harder than he thought, can he take a chance on happiness with Cassie?
I liked this one but was a bit confused by Cassie. She had an incident in high school that has tainted her feelings but she is a fully confident woman so there was a slight contradiction there. I enjoyed the story, Slade is a jerk but you end up cheering for him towards the end. Fun quick read.

Cassie and Slade are coworkers and also neighbor's.. and well they dislike one another or kinda dislike.. Slade is a manwhore and a asshole he tries to get a ride out of cassie by sleeping with one of his woman outside in the yard but she doesn't take the bait.. she's to grown for that.
Once there fighting is done they become somewhat friends.. he does odd jobs for her around the house she cooks for him they become good friends.. but there is ALOOTTTT of sexual tension!! Slade is somewhat crushing on her and has jealous moment when cassie goes on dates.. friendship turns into friends with benefits... they have one rule..

I love getting lost for an hour or so in a Sam Crescent book. I know what I'm going to get and she doesn't disappoint... So imagine my surprise when I found this one was a bit longer, a bit deeper and it made me bloody cry?!! Lol WTF!!

Gutes Buch.
Ja, wieder eine eher kurze Geschichte - hello Smut! :D
Aber ich mochte es sehr. Es ist gut gemacht.
Cassie und Slade sind Nachbarn und sie kann ihn nicht ausstehen. Er hingegen ist hin und weg von ihr und will quasi den Löwen pieksen um eine Reaktion von ihr zu bekommen.
In den ersten Kapiteln benimmt er sich wirklich wie ein Trottel und sie ist eine sehr verschlossene Person - aber das schöne ist: Diese Geschichte bekommt eine schöne Charakterentwicklung hin. Für beide.
Man kann wirklich gut nachvollziehen wo und wann sich die Gefühle füreinander verändern, wann die beiden merken, dass die beiden schon viel zu tief ineinander verstrickt sind. Es wird klar kommuniziert was die beiden wollen und das Happy Ending ist einfach schön. Da kann man nichts anderes sagen.
Klar gibt es auch Kritik. Zum Beispiel dass Slade nicht wartet bis Cassie selbst ihre Vergangenheit erzählt, sondern Nachforschungen anstellt. Oder es gibt eine Paketlieferung die vorher und nachher nicht mehr erwähnt werden. - Aber davon ab war ich wirklich zufrieden mit der kurzen Zeit, die ich mit dem Buch verbracht habe.

Cassie Love didn't have a good childhood. Her mother didn't care about anything or anyone besides having fund and living the good life. And then she left. After she was gone her father become a alcoholic and didn't look after Cassie anymore. So she looked after herself. She graduated and got out of the trailer park where they lived, got a good job and now she owns her own house and she's happy with her life.
The only thorn in her side is her sexy hot neighbor who has no boundaries. He changes women like he changes his underwear. And yet the women keeps coming back for more.
Slade does everything he can to get under Cassie's skin. He wants to ruffle his sexy curvy prim and proper neighbor. But for once there's a women who doesn't want anything to do with him. So he becomes her friend. Both of them anti-relationships. Slade can't understand why he's so attracted to Cassie, he doesn't do relationships and doesn't do love. And Cassie has had her heart broken before and now she wants nothing to do with relationships. But Slade is getting under Cassie's skin too and soon they are both having feelings and they don't know what to do about it.
Loved this story, in the beginning I couldn't stand Slade, as he came across as a man-whore. But the minute he started spending time with Cassie, you got to know the real Slade. Loved Cassie as she didn't let him bulldoze her into anything and gave as good as she got.

I enjoyed this story. I devoured this book in one sitting and was left thoroughly satisfied. I will admit that I shouted at both hero and heroine to hurry up and get together. I understood that they both had their reservations but I wanted them together. The chemistry between them was clear to see. I liked that Slade and Cassie became friends before they actually acted on their attraction. I liked the little bit in the story about Slade’s parents working through their troubles. I hope that the new owners of Slade and Cassie’s houses get a story because I am really intrigued to know if Cassie won the bet.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.
Cassie Love had a rough childhood. With her dad lost in a bottle of booze and living in a trailer, she was used to being name called. Now twenty-five, she owns her own home and works as a receptionist at the sheriff’s office/police station. Slade Coal is the sheriff’s assistant deputy. He also lives next door to Cassie. Intrigued by the curvy beauty, Slade does all that he can to get a rise out of Cassie. Cassie is used to hearing Slade have sex with random women in his garden. When Cassie finally gives in and becomes friends with Slade, their attraction for one another grows. After being hurt and humiliated in the past, Cassie doesn’t want love. When the sparks fly between Slade and Cassie will they be able to continue a physical relationship and keep the emotions out?

This book is funny and quick to the point and shows you that love can find you when you least expect it and with the last person you would think . Cassis Love has had a hard life being used as a beat in high school by a jerk named Andrew , her mother was a whore who left her and her father , her father couldn't handle cassie's mother leaving so he turned to alcohol and blaming his daughter for her mother leaving them. So when Cassie's manwhore neighbor Slade ( and work colleague) wants to be friends and then we get to the friends with the added benefits but the number won rule is that this is just fun . Cassie's may have her trust issues but so does Slade and issues revolve around his parents. But once again rules are made to be broken and love happens when you least expect it you can't fight it no matter how hard you try. Cassie's and Slade get there HEA and Cassie's finally gets the love that she deserves from the man she deserves. This book is cute .

She isn’t falling for his sexual pickup lines or his handsome face…at first. There’s a slow chipping away at her resolve that I really love reading. Jared doesn’t date just uses women for sex but that pattern is changing now that he’s gotten to know his neighbor and co-worker Cassie. Their romance is tantalizing and intoxicating. This book was so good .
I love all of Sam's books bit this one was a a little to close to home and left me in tears and feeling very emotionally raw. I could relate to Cassie on so many levels that Sam could have written the book about me.
I think this is my favorite by far. Highly recommended.

Frenemies to lovers, gotta love it
If I could own all Sam Crescent books I would. I am so lucky to have a small collection & that I chose well.
Cassie & Slade's story is another masterpiece of words. Both had been dealing with something from their past, but got over it when they became real friends. Finding love with each other was an unexpected, but welcoming surprise.

I loved this story so much! Beautiful story of 2 people learning each other and giving themselves a chance to grow from fun friends to love. Beautifully written. And those 2 on the end would be nice to know what happens with them.

I enjoyed the book. I did feel they wrapped up a whole lot of loose strings super fast toward the end which made it feel rushed and incomplete. And I really wanted a better wrap up with her ex. I honestly wanted some sort of confrontation that ended in the a-hole getting punched in the face.

Due to a double entry on my shelves, I read this book twice and I'm so glad I did! My original read rated this book with 3 stars but now I feel I did an unkindness to a really good story. I love bad neighbour storylines and the dance the characters make to the HEA.

Only thing that would make this story better is if there were a sequel!!! Beautiful love story full of forgiveness, betrayal, some hatred, but a lot of lust, hot goodness and some sweet tea on the side.

8ts supposed to be a book about a plus sized woman but there weren't any descriptives out side or the usual "curves" they say you shouldn't judge a book but its cover and in this case they're right, because I guess I was expecting more when it came to Cassie. The sex scenes are lukewarm and I didn't care for the dialogue in the middle of it. Meh
Another thing that bugs me, and this is just a me thing, is the change in cultural tone and language. In the beginning it is written like they are American with him being a deputy in the sheriff's department but with use of the word garden instead of yard, or "carpark" and "caravan" in referring to her trailer or mobile home in the trailer park. Some British writers will write an American character in an American setting but will often slip as the story moves on. I equate it to me trying to keep up a german accent for a full day...I can't I'll go back to my regular way of speaking. In closing just be yourself we'll love it.

Eh, I found this book boring.
I liked the female lead. I liked that she had overcome so much and was a strong independent woman in her weird little way. I always dislike manwh0re male leads. I don’t find anything attractive about a guy who sleeps around. I don’t care how upfront and honest he is about it to his many partners. You are using and then discarding them. That to me is manipulative and exploitative.
Now if he had been a guy who got his rocks off occasionally with random partners I might have liked him way better than I did. But he wasn’t described that way and so I still didn’t like the male lead here.
Otherwise, there was nothing wrong with this book. Just boring and slow paced. Enjoy.
