This book covers just about every nook and cranny that may become necessary for AIX administrators. You may not need everything but there will come a time you will need something covered in this book.
Some of the subjects covered are: Planning AIX 5L installation and updates Boot Process Configuration Storage and LVM Monitoring and tuning Problem Determination and Resolution Backup and recovery / Disaster recovery Daily Management
What this book does not cover is any depth of the subject. Unfortunately, those in the know think that being certified in general administration is a prerequisite for more in-depth knowledge of specifics. I specialize in languages that are not covered in this book or test. And I work in shell scripting which is not covered. I also specialize in kernel and kernel dumps which are only cursory covered in chapter nine. The book is also written by two to six-week residents which is a tad short for any real trial-by-fire experience.
Still, all it takes is one good answer at the right time to pay for the purchase of this book.
