Before I read this book, I read the reviews. I thought I was about to read a good, juicy book but that really was not the case. my review may be biased because I am a married woman. Here it goes.
Bree Michaels has experienced heartbreak many times in her life. After her latest episode, she decides she will move to Tuckett, Florida to be around family and friends. She is determined to become "Drama Free Bree". All is well until she starts secretly seeing her neighbors husband Dre.
Dre tells Bree that he is unhappily married to his wife Neecy. If it wasn't for the kids he would've divorced Neecy a long time ago. Isn't this what all married men tell to women who they want as a mistress? He also tells Bree that she is the kind of woman he wants to "sport" on his arm, not have as a part of his life, but someone who he can use as a trophy and show off to everyone. Neecy finds out about this budding romance and causes hell. After going through numerous drama-filled situations with Neecy and Dre, Bree and Dre are finally together, but it will not be for long if Neecy has anything to do about it.
Bree truly believes that Dre is her soul mate. She is determined not to let Neecy win back Dre. Because of this, she does some very questionable things that makes me shake my head at her stupidity. After this yo-yo drama (Dre with Bree, Dre with Neecy, Dre lying to Bree, Dree lying to Neecy, fights, drug abuse, domestic violence, etc.) Bree finally gets some sense and wise up and leaves! Best decision she made throughout the whole book.
The author wrote two weak ass female characters. I was ashamed of both of their actions throughout the book. This book shouldn't have been as long as it was. The dialogue was repeated page after page, Bree wants to know what did Neecy say to Dre. Why? Play your role Bree as a mistress.
Would I recommend the book, I don't know. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good. It was a reminder that there really are stupid women like Bree and Neecy in this world.
