Sinful, Louisiana, is always a hotbed of activity, and despite the steamy heat, August is no exception.

Godzilla is terrorizing the town, looking for a home-cooked meal, and Gertie is worried someone will take the gator out before she can get him under control. Francine has a situation of her own at the café, where food is missing from inventory. And Celia is always up to

Love it! Love it! LOVE IT! Do you get that I really liked this one? This is such a fun, cozy mystery series and it never fails to deliver humor, quirky characters and a mystery. This book has all that and more, so much more.

As summer draws to an end, so does Fortune's time in Sinful. LA. Having to relocate is not something Fortune wants to do. Unfortunately, Fortune is no closer to being safe than she was when she came here. Ahmed, the arms dealer threatening Fortune's life, is still on the l
The eleventh book of the Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana Deleon. Someone is taking food from the local café so the gang is on the job to find out who. Then there is Godzilla who is terrorizing the neighborhood and Fortune and the gang must catch him before someone kills him. And then, of course, it's time to force Ahmad's hand so Fortune puts herself up as bait to get him.

Another excellent addition to a fun series. Fortune and Carter are becoming more involved. Loved it!

Change of Fortune by Jana Deleon was fun from page one to the end. I laughed and I cried as I watched Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie once again try to solve a small town mystery and attempt to save Gertie's pet alligator. Fortune's neighbor Roland had me rolling with laughter. I love this series and am eagerly waiting for the my library to get me the next book.

When I want laugh-out-loud humor, I pick up a Miss Fortune book.

In Sinful, Louisiana, CIA assassin Fortune Redding continues to hide out under another identity from bad guy Ahmad. Her best friends Gertie and Ida Mae both used to be spies in the Vietnam War and Fortune's sweetheart is the local deputy. All of the other regulars are back -- arch enemy Celia, who is determined to run the ladies out of town, weird next door neighbor Ronald, and local mobsters Big and Little. Fortune has decided she

In this 11th book about Fortune and her summer in Sinful, Louisiana, instead of enjoying the antics of the locals, Fortune has decided it is time to be out from under the threat of Ahmad. That is not to say she is too busy to try and catch Godzilla, or help Francine find out who is stealing food from the restaurant's panty. It's just that it is time to lure Ahmad to Fortune and end it once and for all. It will be her final mission, and the most important one of her life. When she enlists help fr ...more

In Change of Fortune by Jana Deleon, Fortune Redding has grown tired of waiting for the CIA to catch Ahmad, the arms dealer who has put a million dollar price on Fortune’s head after she killed his brother for trying to sell a girl into sex slavery. So she has decided to put herself up as bait to draw him out of hiding. Neither Fortune’s CIA boss nor Deputy Carter LeBlanc, Fortune’s boyfriend, is happy with the plan, but they realize this may be their only chance to catch the dangerous gun runne ...more

Great story. Laughed a lot. Love the characters. Godzilla is riot. The final battle scene was awesome. Highly recommend this book

As usual, Jana Deleon doesn’t disappoint. With her laugh-out-loud prose, Jana weaves another chapter of Fortune Redding’s life. Everyone I know who reads this series wants to be friends with these people...except Celia, of course. I eagerly await the next book. These are great on audio, too. The narrator gives distinctive voice to each character, and delivers the dialogue with the personality and, yes, sarcasm, that you expect from these colorful characters. A must read...the whole series, not j ...more

This book felt very different from the others. There was still some of the crazy you come to expect from residents of Sinful. But there was definitely less of it. I think this was an important part of the story and needed to be said, but it is a very different type of book.

Hopefully this will be a turning point in the series and not the end of it.

Still had me laughing

While I know a lot of their antics are not probable, maybe that is why it is still so funny?

This book had a good solution to the conflict and I expect the series to take a big turn now.

I can't wait to read what else is on store for these characters

This book is full of rolling on the floor laughing moments as well as suspense.

I love the characters and the setting. I'm looking forward to the next adventure.
In this book, Fortune has had enough of being in hiding she's ready to get rid of Ahmad once and for all, even if that means putting her life on the line. Her friends aren't sure this is a good idea, but they go along with it, and they are also worried she may not decide to stay with them. But Fortune is ready for a new life, and to get that she must end her old one.

This book was really good. It was funny, had great suspense and action, and a dash of romance. However, I wish Carter and Fortune'

One of the funniest and best book in this series yet? How is that possible...the whole series in fantastic!

This is a phenomenal series each adventure of Fortune, Gertie and Ida Belle better than the last! Fortune is tired of hiding out from a vindictive arms dealer whose brother she killed and has made it his mission to kill her. She wants her life back so she doesn't have to keep looking over her shoulder. While a CIA assassin, she had stored her empathy and feelings away so they wouldn't get i

It's been a long, long ride. 11 books...

And finally the Ahmad situation is handled!!

A lot of things are actually addressed or revealed in this novel, and I appreciated the more serious tone the author managed to portray, while keeping the humor that readers have always loved.

I did think the mini-mystery in this novel was a bit lacking though. With the over-looming threat of Ahmad, I couldn't quite sink my teeth into the mystery, and I felt the resolution was a bit weak. Already the novels in thi

In short, if you liked the previous books then you will like this one. The girls are up to their usual antics, Ida Belle could probably drive a shopping cart at warp speed, Gertie's love for animals and firearms creates the usual havoc and Fortune is caught somewhere in the middle. The series may not have the most sophisticated humor out there, but the scene with Celia and Godzilla still made me laugh. I especially enjoy the new dynamic between Carter and the trio. In prior books, Carter knew th ...more

I've given all the books in the Miss Fortune series a 4 or 5. This one should have been among the best because the back story takes a big jump.

I found it deflating. Most of the "humor" revolves around making fun of Celia, the towns woman cast as the villain. The meanness of Fortune and her sidekicks, Ida Bell and Gertie towards Celia came across as school yard bullying by the in-crowd. It was always hard to imagine Celia as horrible as she is portrayed in prior installments. After all, if she w

Of all of the Miss Fortune books, "Change of Fortune" is the one we been waiting for. We finally get to see a face off between Fortune and the drug dealer, Ahmad. *3.5 but rounding up*

This is probably one of my favorite series because it manages to balance out humor with a good mystery plot and the characters are so layered and interesting I’d read 100 more books featuring them and the town of Sinful, Louisiana.

“Change of Fortune”, picks up with Celia causing trouble for the main trio and Carter as she threatens a to kill Godzilla for no other reason than to hurt Gertie, the case of the missing food from Francine’s cafe and finally the showdown we’ve all

Jana DeLeon continues to deliver murder and mayhem at its finest! Even though this is the Book 11 in the Miss Fortune Mystery Book Series, each one is better than the last. Her characters are larger than life and I for one want to move to Sinful, LA and claim Fortune, Ida Belle, Gertie and Carter as my Best Friends! I want to go help them find Godzilla before Celia manages to poison him because he keeps terrorizing her (honestly who doesn’t want him to get a bite out of her?!?!) This boo

I just love deleon style of writing and especially her fortune series. This series 11 was so intense and full of hilarity in between , it made me laugh, it made me cry, and happy all at the same time. I felt as though the characters were like friends and find myself transported to the small community called sinfull. While Swamp Team 3 is helping café owner Francine figure out who's stealing food from her inventory, Fortune gets a call from her "handlers" at the CIA: there's an opportunity to take down the man who is the reason she's hiding in Sinful.

Of course, Fortune wants in on it ... but she needs some help from the Hebert brothers, Gertie, Ida Belle ... and the long-suffering Carter Leblanc. This will be Fortune's last operation as an agent, she's decided ... but a lot has to happen before we get there.

Godzilla rides again

Is Fortune finally going to get to start her life as the real her? As a CIA assassin, she's been hiding from an arms dealer who wants her dead. All summer, she has been living in Sinful, Louisiana as the niece of a resident who is trying to settle her aunt's estate.

Now she has decided that she likes the life she's found and the friends she's made and wants to leave the CIA. However, Ahmad still has a price on her head and he keeps slipping away from the agents.

I was missing the eccentricities of Sinful LA, and this did the trick nicely: Fortune Redding and her aging daredevil duo, a giant 'gator that Gertie tried to adopt (only in the South would you have someone feeding a gator & thinking to take it for a walk complete with leash), a rotund cross-dresser (only in private mind you). Then there's that confrontation with Celia involving a bass boat, a rapidly launched net which devolved into a drive up someone's lawn & into someone's hedge; of c ...more

Fortune Reading is tired of living hiding from Ahmad. Her time in Sinful is coming to a close, and she wants to stay. She puts herself up as bait to draw Ahmad out in the open, and to attempt to bring this chapter in her life to a close.

With a mini war happening in the warehouse in New Orleans, bullets are flying, and Ahmad makes an escape through the bayou. Will Fortune's plan cause any of her friends (Carter, Ida Bell, Gertie, or members of the CIA task force team to be harmed, or even killed

This book gets 3.5* from me because in large part I am a thriller/espionage reader and wanted more tension in the final confrontation between Fortune and Ahmad. That whole part of the book was dull for any action thriller reader used to good fight scenes. The book rating dropped a full half point - but I knew it was coming because Ms DeLeon didn't build the tension between Fortune and Ahmad for the long-awaited denouement, which was kind of a letdown after 10 books. As for the remainder of the p ...more

After reading the 11th Fortune mystery, I seriously think Godzilla should be the protagonist in the next book. He is more hilarious than Gertie, Ida Belle and Fortune. Only he managed to actually twist Celia's knickers.
Having said that, this one was the most intense book all through the series so far. (view spoiler)

I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading the book! I couldn't put it down!

Fortune is back and ready to make a difficult decision, confront danger and keep Ida Belle, Bertie and Godzilla out of trouble! Change of Fortune shows readers the two sides of Fortune - a person who has become "softer" & more open with the addition of friends into her once solitary life and the cold blooded CIA assassin she was for many years. I enjoyed seeing Fortune realize she has a family & love

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. Her family owned a camp located on a bayou just off the Gulf of Mexico that you could only get there by boat. The most important feature was the rope hammock hanging in the shade on a huge deck that stretched ou ...more
