Monsterland seems to be a teen/young adult book , but adults would like it too. In this world people are aware of zombies (those cursed with a virus and not dead), vampires, and werewolves. There are very few left in the world and one person claims he wants to make a theme park for them to help them. It is where they can enjoy life, they can be studied, maybe find a cure, keep them out of prisons the government would have them in, and show the public that they exist harmlessly. The story is base ...more

I received an ARC edition from Michael Okon!

Will we ever get tired of the need for bigger, better, more shocking, or more terrifying entertainment when seeking our next theme park vacation? Back in the day, a small traveling circus was thrilling. Then larger, permanent entertainment venues sprouted. Disneyland, then Disney World, and on and on. Welcome to the greatest show on Earth, more thrills, more chills and more terrifying monsters than ever before! Welcome to Monsterland. Yessir, want to b

Right in time for Halloween, or perfect for anytime of the year. Theme parks and monsters! This book took me hostage from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. Okon has delivered a riveting tale that includes werewolves, zombies and monsters. And the writing in this horror novel is top notch. Usually it's just about the story, but this book goes one step further. I sincerely felt like I was experiencing all of the heart racing horrors of the characters. Jurassic Park meets The Walking Dead combine into a rollicking fun read!

Welcome to Monsterland… let’s scare you to death.

I’m a big fan of all things that go bump in the night and Monsterland doesn’t disappoint. Filled with classic horror creatures, strong characters and an alternative glimpse into society.

I liked the concept of a theme park where you could see and touch vampires, zombies and werewolves in captivity. A horror zoo, so to speak. I mean, what could go wrong? Everything!

Werewolves, vampires and zombies, oh my! But don't be misled, this is no Wizard of Oz. Monsterland is a far cry from the land of dreams that is Disneyland, and is much more comparable to the freak show of Ripley's Believe it or Not filled with horrors like Jurrasic Park. Monsterland is a theme park filled with the creatures that plague your nightmares. The horror movie buff in me would absolutely love to have an all access pass to the theme par

This story is so much more than I expected. I began reading the book thinking the story revolved around a theme park with real monsters and I expected something to go wrong and cause panic and mayhem to ensue. Yes, all that happened, but there is more to this story besides monsters. There are many characters in this story, some of whom I thought were monstrous in their ideas and actions.

I'm not a fan of thrill rides, especially those involving surprise appearances of frightening characters, so m

Monsterland....Disneyland....what’s the difference? Monsterland is what happens when Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies are for real, for real. The monsters are real and living in hiding or in containments camps. It is ruining the economy but the hero comes in just in time to save the day. He has this amazing idea to have these creatures live in Monsterland for “observation” turned theme park. Some people have their reservations but others are crazy psyched to go to Monsterland. Wyatt gets an ama ...more

I was so excited to get my hands on Monsterland by Michael Okon. Jurassic Park step aside. You think dinosaurs could do some damage, how about vampires, werewolves and zombies caged up and put on display?

The virus had changed the world and in The badlands of California, Copper Valley, to be precise, Vincent Konrad came to town, threw some money around and opened his park, using the plague ridden to attract tourist.

What cold possible go wrong? LOL

Wyatt has a big heart. In times of trouble, he is

Monsterland: ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

In this world there are many different races of people, various animals of different classifications and of course those that deviate from the norm. As you enter the world that Wyatt lives in and meet his co-workers at the burger joint they work in you will also meet many others who will remind you of people that you might know. Vincent Konrad is creating something that will baffle the public, scare most adults and frighten the world. Imagine 6 or more theme p

First time reading a Michael Okon book, and I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Creating a theme park for people to be able to view and interact with the “monsters”. The so-called monsters being vampires, zombies and werewolves.
Human nature being what it is, you know people will flock to see the exhibits.
The theme parks owner, Dr. Konrad gives Wyatt and some of his friends free VIP passes for opening day/night.
I can see problems and would definitely pass on visiting the park,

I absolutely adored this book! When I read the blurb, I knew I was going to enjoy it, but I definitely did not expect to be utterly blown away by the masterful storytelling of Okon.

The storyline was absolutely brilliant. Could it really happen? If we had these monsters in our lives, yes, I really do think we would go as far as to put them in cages and stare. Would things go wrong…OF COURSE!! This is the perfect tale of wanting to be the first in line to see the newest, biggest and best. To be th

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review

The cover is what drew my attention to the book. So I read the blurb, I was intrigued.

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I do not believe this is a series. I was intrigued from the blurb even though I do not usually read horror. I guess to me this would be light horror because I’d definitely read something like this again. I’m not one who likes to be scared to death. I also lov

I was given this book for review

This was a quick read and I enjoyed it. I do not normally read horror type books but sometimes I like to switch things up. Dr Konrad has opened a theme park with vampires, zombies, and werewolves. He says it is in the name of science. While he is studying the creatures looking for a cure, he might as well let people view them and get some enjoyment. Now I know immediately that things will go horribly wrong at some point. Wyatt is a kid and he is trying to get used

An intriguing story where real zombies, werewolves and vampires are the captive main attractions in a Disney type theme park. With hints of Juracic Park, this quick paced story will keep you entertained with its action, thrills, humour and a storyline where things aren't always as they seem. I liked the realistic depiction of family dynamics and problems and that, in a story full of monsters, it's the human that are the biggest "monsters" of all. I enjoyed the characters, the fast action, the in ...more

Every kid loves a theme park, but a monster park with real werewolves, vampires and zombies that’s pretty amazing. Anyone would go, even just for curiosity.
Michael Okon presents us a world where a catastrophic event leaves behind a deadly decease that makes the human body “vitality impaired” with an endless craving of raw meat, so they become what we call Zombies. This is transmitted by fluids of the infected. The world is trying to find a cure, and the great philanthropist Dr. Vincent Conrad d

Wyatt's life is anything but easy. His father never really paid attention to him and his younger brother and they haven't seen him after the divorce. His father only cared about his career and money and then dies under mysterious circumstances. Wyatt has to come to terms with his new home situation. Fortunately he still has his friends, they always discuss creatures and if either vampires, werewolves or zombies are the strongest. LOVE this book! A new twist on how you perceive monsters. You'll never see a vampire, werewolf, or zombie in the same light ever again! Wyatt Baldwin and his friends take a trip to the opening of Monsterland and their lives will never be the same. I felt like I was on my own rollercoaster ride. This book is fun and horrifying at the same time.

I received a copy of Monsterland in a giveaway from the author.
When I first read the description of Monsterland, I thought it sounded like fun. Jurassic Park with monsters. Turns out there was a bit more going on.
The author was able to weave a story that kept a fun ride going at all times. From the perspective of the main characters to the perspective of some of the monsters, the pace didn't really let up.
Based on where and how this ended, I'm interested in seeing where he goes with Book 2.

Wow!  I mean Wow!  This was not what I thought it would be.  I was thinking a comedy, but no can you say Jurassic Park for Monsters!   Carnage and all!  This is the first book by Michael Okom that I have read and it was very interesting.

So the world has been ruined by wars and downed economy.  Vincent has a plan.  Take the worlds people, diseased with the plague along with the werewolves and vampires and put them in a park.  A park to protect them and the normal people.  What could go wrong?

Is your heart strong enough to take it?

Michael Okon hits the trifecta in his new thriller, Monsterland: werewolves, zombies, and vampires. Alas, the latter also tend to get carried away at times, so yes, throw a little cannibalism into the mix, and voilà, you have the makings of a great read for any night except when the Moon is full! Then, better to leave the book closed lest . . . well, you get the picture.

'Monsterland' is an imaginative and unique young adult novel that will appeal to a variety of readers. It was definitely different than anything I've ever read, which is always fun to come across. I'm going to break down the big pros and cons for me:

Pros:

The plot was interesting and enjoyable. The idea of a monster theme park sounds fascinating, especially if it turns out that the creatures are what they say they are. I'm sure lots of paranormal fans have thought about what it would be like if a

Just in time for Halloween!

Michael Okon has a rich imagination, a gift that comes from being grounded and secure with life as being lived. That he is able from that strong stance to create stories embellishes his evident gifts as a writer. Michael has stated, `Ghosts have been a popular subject for millennia, appearing in countless stories, from "Macbeth" to the Bible, and even spawning their own folklore genre: ghost stories. Ghosts are perhaps the most common paranormal belief in the world. Pa

Oh boy, I say this because I'm a bit of a fraidy-cat when it comes to horror, though I love it, I'm not to fond of having to sleep with the lights on after a good scary movie or book. Friends Wyatt, Howard, and Melvin, spend their days debating which monster is superior, but when they unexpectedly score VIP tickets to the grand opening of the American Monsterland, they might just find out!
