Krisálys Chronicles of Féyree #1
Crossover
Discover the Magic of this Award-Winning Fairy Fantasy Adventure
Crossover is the first book in an exciting new trilogy about fairies on a quest for their wings, who are unknowingly at the center of a forgotten prophecy that will change two realms forever.
Receiving 5-star reviews, this breakout fantasy adventure is full of unexpected twists and turns... enthralling both Young Adults and Adults alike
In the best traditions of high fantasy and the immortal quest, this suspenseful new book weaves an unexpectedly contemporary and complex saga where fairies struggle through nine increasingly dangerous rites to earn their wings, even as the shadows of a forgotten prophecy gather to change their realm.
The quest follows Danai and her friends as they confront the Rites, their own fears and beliefs, and archaic traditions as they seek to earn their wings. From the whip-crack of the Hunted Rite, through the final gut-wrenching Rite of Krisalys, they are determined to succeed or die trying.
Crossover was a 2008 semi-finalist for the Reader Views Choice Literary Awards and the Eric Hoffer Book Awards. Dark Fire, Krisalys Chronicles of Feyree: Scroll 2 will be published in 2009.

That is the kind of book that Crossover is It is a thrilling, fantastical adventure, combining many mythical creatures and different languages that meld into a wonderful read I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy - Carolyn S., age 12
* I give a resounding Wow for Claudia Newcorns new book, Crossover. This intelligently written adventure story involving old grudges, ambition, love, and other dimensions of existence, also speaks to the difficulties of growing up and making independent, responsible choices. Deb Shunamon, Readerviews.com

* A fantasy adventure that turned out to be a real page turner for me. Its a fairy tale with a hard edge that often surprises you. Just when you think you can predict whats going to come next, you find the author has the creativity to catch you off guard and move you deeper into this fantasy world. * I love fantasy, and I found Crossover hard to put down. It's not just about a fairy getting her wings. It's really about a seismic cultural shift, much like what's happening in our own world. Dana's quick-thinking and willingness to deviate from traditions is going to become pivotal in this trilogy. She reminds me of The Lord of the Rings Frodo in many ways - the unwilling hero whose choices could change the world. W. Moss

I would actually like to give this book 4 1/2 stars.
For those of us who love high-fantasy, this book is a welcome relief. The characters are interesting and well-wrought. The story is extremely entertaining - once you get beyond the first 12 or 20 pages. The author's imagination is wild and rampant yet her vocabulary and expression is deep. The plot is also symbolically very applicable to the failings of modern social structures.
Even more, the author is not afraid to employ magic appropriate for the level of literature that high-fantasy demands. Let's face it, there is a lingering reticence to employ magic even in high-fantasy for fear of alienating more conservative light fantasy readers.
But what is fantasy if not a medium to explore who we are on a higher level? True, not everyone follows a story symbolically, but the idea of non-functional and oppressive leadership can be gleaned by all. Tolkein himself ranted against symbollism and hidden meanings in his afterwords yet the basic natures of heroism and selflessness remain symbols highly associated with Frodo and Sam.
The story is magic and the author is a very sage architect behind the magic which gives a great sense of cohesiveness to the overall work.
So, with all of this praise, why not assign it 5 stars? The book needs some more editing. Not all of us are willing to 'hang in there' for the first few dozen pages until the author gets her legs under her. Several points throughout the story, I was thrown out of the story by sentences that had obvious disconnects and grammatical errors (considering the author's eloquent and creative style).
New authors like us, however, struggle with what resources we have available to us. We're like race horses in that no one takes a gamble on us until we win a few races on our own.
With that said, read and I know you'll enjoy!

With so many choices and so little time this book is a must. For the guy's who like to read, this is not your typical book about fairees. You'll find plenty of action, a great story line, plus all kinds of mythical(?) creatures. There is a little bit of sexual insinuation but nothing to keep it off of a school library list. The younger generation may even learn a few of life's lessons from this book. If you have ever read a book that brings you into the world you're reading this is one that does it in spades. Enjoy!

Fabulous storyline. I normally do not read fantasy books, but this story really drew me in; I never wanted it to end. Thank goodness Ms. Newcorn wrote two more books to continue the story. Once you get used to the language the characters use, it is a fabulous read and hard to put down.
