Funny for its time. I was in Mauritius for the OAU conference in 1976 when Idi Amin was chair of the OAU. The hotel where the heads of state were all going to be staying had a bookshop by reception - and piled high in the window was a stack of this book. My colleagues and I managed to convince them that Idi Amin hadn't in fact written the book, and it might be to their advantage to remove the pile of books!

The guiltiest of pleasures, and maybe the only funny stuff Punch was running in that era. If you haven't read the Goodreads review by Griff Griffith, do so now. Also, could somebody tell me what the hell the column entitled "Special Relationship," involving the Uglow Company, Maurice "Weeny" Morris and ex-GLC sanitary inspector J.P. Foskett, was about?

[Gary Stocker]

Featuring His Excellency, President for life, Dr, General Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, EMEB, LNER, GWR, PAYE, VAT, etc,.

[C.Y. Gopinath]

Cripplingly funny. If you can find a copy, buy two!
