This book is beautifully arranged, but a bit stuffy and high brow. It has 33 unique terrarium projects that are inspired by ecosystems around the world.

I found the entire book a little ridiculous with the detailed instructions. There are multiple ingredient lists, such as this:

1 Polyscias balfouriana (Balfour Aralia) (pot diameter 21/2 in/6 cm)
1 small fern (pot diameter 21/2 in/6 cm)
12/3 cups/400 ml red volcanic stone*
12/3 cups/400 ml acidic planting mix/ericaceous compost*
2 handfuls of fine gravel, dark gray*
1 handful of medium gravel, light gray*
1 handful of medium gravel, white*
1 handful of coarse crushed gravel, gray*
2 thick pieces of tree bark*
3 clumps of forest moss*
1/3 cup/75 ml filtered water

Ummm, what happened to the artistic expression of creating a terrarium, and tossing everything in there haphazardly?! Joking, but also not. Have some fun, learn the basics of what plants need to grow in a terrarium environment, and have fun with it.

I really enjoyed it and will try some of these beautiful worlds!
I still take off one star tho, cause I fear the "fish might support a water garden well, talk to an aquarist" will still cost a lot of fish life from people just throwing them in there and not caring for their needs.
But otherwise a good book.

Mooi beginners boek met veel foto's. Het lijkt mij, in Nederland, wel moeilijker om aan bepaalde planten te komen. Die vind je niet standaard bij de Intratuin. Desalniettemin. genoeg foto's ter inspiratie.

Le foto, accompagnate da didascalie informative, non sono solo un elemento decorativo, ma un vero e proprio strumento didattico che arricchisce l'esperienza di lettura e rende il libro ancora più completo e fruibile.
Un libro perfetto per gli amanti della natura e del fai da te, per chi desidera un tocco di verde in casa o per chi vuole creare un regalo originale e personalizzato.

Molto interessante. Una buona introduzione sul mondo dei terrari. Anche se per quel che mi riguarda è un po’ troppo “superficiale”. La cosa buona è che ci sono un sacco di “ricette” per realizzare dei terrari.
