To truly know Rhiannon, we must excavate the layers of her myth, decode the meaning of her symbols, and seek to restore the significance of her very name. Although she has a mythology around her, and has many modern-day devotees, nowhere in ancient lore has she been identified as a Goddess. We have no known cult centers or devotional altars dedicated to Rhiannon. How then ...more

I was very excited when I saw this title on Moon Books' list of forthcoming releases. Non-fiction books about Celtic horse goddesses are rarer than rocking horse droppings. But, to be honest, I was also hoping that I wasn't going to be disappointed. This is part of Moon Books' popular "Pagan Portals" series, which requires authors to keep their books quite short. Some rise to this challenge well, but others produce little more than something like a long blog post. Tantalizing, but not containing ...more

Erudite and well researched, this slender volume is also both enchanting and evocative. Telyndru deftly weaves sturdy academic research with practical yet inspired ways to connect with and build a relationship with the Welsh Goddess Rhiannon. Not only a solid introduction, this is a book to return to again and again as both reference and catalyst for devotional inspiration. It is heartening to find an author as devoted to the priestess path as Telyndru obviously is. She is a genuine wisewoman wi ...more

Well-written and concise view of the Welsh Rhiannon. I liked how it breaks down how she is interpreted in the myths.

I have the honour of knowing Jhenah and have heard her teach and speak many times. Each time I am awed at the depth of her knowledge and her ability to share the wisdom she has gained through study and dedication to the Goddess. This book provides an amazing overview of the literature on the mythic figure to answer the question 'Can Rhiannon be considered a Goddess and a Sovereignty figure?' Jhenah takes us on a scholastic and spiritual exploration of this question and whether you agree or not w ...more

I gave this a 3 star review.
I am very familiar with the Mabinogion.

I wanted a book that had more “juice” like the last 25% of this book. I know these books have to be short. I genuinely believe we need to stop proving our Goddess’s exist to the the world in general and offer devotions and writings that inspire, not tell us the same stories from the Mabinogion, which like the author I find to be medieval and not relevant to the experience of this Goddess. Those stories are not what draws me to

Jhenah Telyndru has always felt called to dance with joy in that liminal space which straddles the realms of history and myth, of individuality and collectivity, of the seen and the unseen. A creative mystic who loves science and values fact, Jhenah embraces the conscious co-creation of the future, while immersing herself in an impassioned study of the past. The path between, she believes, is whe ...more
