Rabbi teach us to pray

Rate this book
Prayer is simply talking with God. Nonetheless, the grown men who followed Jesus felt as if they had something yet to learn. As true disciples, they wanted to pray just as their Rabbi did. In ancient Judaism, disciples sought not only to learn their master s teachings and interpretations; they endeavored to imitate their rabbi in every detail. Rabbi Yeshua taught, A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher (Luke 6:40). What does prayer look like in a Jewish context? How did Jesus pray? This book provides Christians with an insider s view of Jewish prayer. Learn how the beauty and wisdom of Jesus own people can inspire all his disciples to draw near to our Father in heaven.

A well-written, quick read, this book gives excellent insight into the Hebraic mindset of prayer that serious Christians should find helpful. Even if you discover differences in theology with the author, your prayer life will undoubtedly be enriched and expanded by reading this book. I highly recommend it.

Thought provoking, short, focused entirely on finding a 'insiders' view of the disciples prayer offered by Christ. Felt a little too emphatic about the Jewishness of Jesus as opposed to King of all nations and all peoples.

I plan to read this again--to refer to it as needed, to enrich my understanding of the prayers, including the one taught us by Messiah in the gospels. May His kingdom come.

This was clear and concise; I wish it was actually more detailed and gave more information and examples, but it serves as a nice, easy to read overview.
