Demon Rising is a page-turning debut novel from Ms. Browne, an enthralling new voice who gives us a magical world where love leads to dark decisions. Highly recommend adding to your TBR pile.

Let’s pretend that your life is ruled by a coven, not by the government. This coven can do whatever they want to whoever they want at anytime that they want. If someone looks at a member of the coven wrong, depending on how powerful they are, they can stick their demon or what they call a Soultorn on you and it will feed off of you until you are on death’s door step. Browne has a very entertaining and powerfully riveting novel that will have readers wanting more.

I generally don't read much urban fantasy, but I really enjoyed this. The writing was solid and the pace was very fast. I think this author did a very good job at developing the characters even while so much was going on. The magical element was also really fun! I loved some of the creativity there - especially the character Nevada and how he created an illusion over the characters to make them look different. Was there anything I would have changed? Yes - I'm a huge fan of romance. I loved that ...more

This debut novel by DeAnna Browne is everything a good Urban Fantasy should be. It's wonderfully written, the characters are complex, the world-building is excellent, and the story starts out with a bang and doesn't let up. We even get a bit of romance as our heroine, Becca, has feelings for her childhood sweetheart and her ex-boyfriend. We do have an open-ended conclusion as this is the first book in a series, but that didn't prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this one from beginning to end. W ...more

Demon rising presents a fresh new voice to the Urban Fantasy genre. DeAnna Browne maintains a thrilling pace as builds a post apocalyptic world laced with corrupt leaders and untrustworthy allegiances. On top of that she weaves complicated relationships and a protagonist who has make difficult choices about integrity, love, and loyalty. A real page-turner. Can’t wait for book two.

This book was such a page-turner! Such an addicting book and I cannot wait It was such a well-developed plot and was never bored of it at all! Such a world where magic lurks. How the characters have to make decisions that can lead to their possible futures. I will not say much because I do not want to spoil. It was well-formatted and easy to follow. I highly recommend this book for sure.

This is a great story that incorporates betrayal, magic, love, and family. The characters are well developed and there was enough suspense to keep me interested.
