I chose to read this book after taking a part in a My One Word study at my church. My word for this year is “enough”. While I will always be a work in imperfect progress, I am enough for Jesus, my audience of one, which can be a challenge for “people pleasers” like myself. He, my God, is enough for me. Looking to the approval of others as my “yardstick” of being all that God created me to be is a sure way to never measure up in the eyes of man or ourselves. And, lastly, ENOUGH! of over-analyzing, over-thinking and trying to “figure it all out”. I need to be obedient in growing my relationship with Christ, spending time with Him, spending time daily in His Word and leave all of the outcomes in my life to Him. This is hard, on my own. Sharon Jaynes’ new book, Enough: Silencing The Lies That Steal Your Confidence, has been the perfect introduction to the focus for me this year, Enough. This book is full of applicable scripture to highlight every point she makes about how we can fight the daily war for our minds the enemy attempts to wage on us. And the Word of God is a powerful weapon. While reading, I was even able to use content from the book to work through confidence issues my son was having at the time. Coincidence? I think not. This book is primarily geared toward women but also excellent for older teens as well. My copy, which I received in advance for my honest review, is full of notes, quotes and favorite scripture verses. There is a quick reference guide in the back that will also come in handy. This is not a “one time read”, it will be useful in many years to come. I will be buying copies for my family and friends because we all struggle with feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty at different times in our lives. And God, our Creator and Redeemer, wants us to live with a complete awareness of His great love for us. He wants us to live filled with His Spirit, forgiven and free all to be used fully for Him. This book equips us with tools to apply His Word and Truth to our daily lives.

Enough was a very good nonfiction read. I enjoyed the writing style and how the author was authentic. I found some chapters especially impactful and highlighted several quotes.

All in all, Enough was worth the read and I'm glad I read it.

Perceptions of ourselves can be formed by people around us and by our own thoughts and actions. In this book, the author reminds us that we are God's children and therefore, we are precious. This book shows how to change our minds from self-defeating thoughts to God's truth and His promises for us. Awesome book. I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher and this is my own personal honest opinion. No review was required.

This is the second Sharon Jaynes book that I have listened to. The first one, Love Struck, did not strike a chord with me so I was reluctant to dive into her book Enough. I enjoyed Enough and would like to listen to it again because she shares a lot of great information. There was a lot to learn but one thing that stuck in my mind was the reminder of knowing truth from lies. So much of our internal dialog is lies, but to separate the lies from the truth, one must know the truth, which is the Word of God. I found her reasoning sound. There were a few things that she said that mainstream Christians typically say/feel that I did not agree with. Overall, there are gems in this book.

Listened to this book on audio. I choose it for one of my reads for one little word project for 2022. I listened in the car during my travels and had a notebook handy to write down quotes from the book. There is many scripture references in this book. Felt like she was talking to me directly. Highly recommend.

Let me be clear – my one star rating is not really on the content of this book. Why not? Because the audiobook adaptation was so incredibly irritating, I bailed out around 40% and have no real sense of the value of the ideas and substance of this book. I knew this was strongly based in Christian beliefs coming in and was fine with that. What was not fine was the completely insane choice by the narrator to “put on” a sort of serious, deeper voice to INTONE the scripture passages at the “reader/listener”. It was beyond bizarre. I don’t want to hear your Charlton Heston as Moses impersonation every 5 minutes just because you are reading a passage of scripture (the reader was female and not a particularly deep voiced woman at that, so the overall effect was jarring). Life is too shore and there are too many other books similar to this on my list for me to be bothered finding an e-book version to start reading this one over. UGH.

I have only read a couple of Sharon Jaynes’ books, but with each one I always reach the end with a sense of greater knowledge and deeper understanding of God’s Word. I believe this is the result of Sharon truly listening to God’s voice as she writes. Her newest book, “Enough: Silencing the Lies That Steal Your Confidence” is actually a revised edition of an earlier work, but is a first-time read for me. Published by Harvest House, this book helps answer the question I think all women have asked, “What can you do when you feel you’re just not good enough?”

“Enough” is divided into two sections: Part 1: The Battle for Your Thought Life; and Part 2: The Lies Women Tell Themselves. While I certainly benefited from reading both sections, the first one resonated with me the most... especially the portions about recognizing the different ways the enemy works in our lives. WIth warmth and wisdom, this section breaks down a four-step process for overcoming the lies we’ve been told by the enemy: 1. Realize the enemy’s true identity; 2. Recognize the lies; 3. Reject the lies; and 4. Replace the lies with Truth. The second section walks readers through this process by using each of the four steps to specifically target a few of the many lies we so often believe, such as: I’m Not Good Enough, I’m So Ugly, I Would Be Happy If..., My Life is Hopeless, and more. Finally, the book includes two bonus features at the end: Replacing the Lies with the Truth Quick Reference Guide; and a Bible Study Guide for each chapter.

Although I learned a ton from reading “Enough”, and it is definitely a title that I will refer back to time and time again, perhaps this quote sums up what was the most important benefit for me: “(Satan) has a collection of old tapes from your past, and he pushes rewind and play, rewind and play. Oh yes, he knows which buttons to push. He also uses personal pronouns like “I” instead of “you”... The thoughts sound like you, feel like you, and before you know it, you think they are you. That’s the reason it’s so difficult to detect the lies. They sound just like us.... Satan knows exactly which lies to whisper in your mind. He has watched you over the years and is well acquainted with your insecurities, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. Do you tend to get discouraged? He will plant seeds of discouragement in your mind. Do you tend to struggled with rejection and loneliness? He will put ideas about rejection and loneliness in your mind. It’s up to us to recognize the lies so we’ll know how to defeat them.” And with the help of this book, God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit, that’s exactly what I intend to do - and I encourage you to as well!

This book was provided courtesy of Harvest House Publishers, in exchange for my honest review.

`Enough` by author Sharon Jaynes is a woman's issues book. It is for the woman whose thoughts tend to dwell negatively, helping her turn those thoughts to positive thoughts.

Like the character, Carrie, in the book I had grown accustomed to, and learned to hide, those negative thoughts that ran rapidly through my mind: worthless, unloved, ugly, stupid, and the list goes on and on. Also, like Carrie, no one knew. Everyone thought I had it all together. One could say I was even envied by my friends.

My life began much like Sharon Jaynes did. Like Sharon, I grew up in small-town America, my father was a successful general contractor, Sharon's dad was a successful owner of a building supply company. And, our mothers were successful with their arts-and-crafts. We were the typical American family, so everyone thought. By the age of 12, I had been abused by a significant family member which helped lock in my thoughts of unworthiness, stupid, unloved, and ugly. I had very few friends because of my insecurities. For years I felt unloved by God, wanting to do everything right.

I went to church occasionally but still felt unloved at church. I heard enough about heaven and hell that I knew I didn't want to go to hell. But I never heard about a relationship with Jesus. Actually, I am pretty new to that concept.

Sharon Jaynes wrote this book because she wants every woman to know the truths about their identity in Christ. Jesus is ready to pour out the affirming words the reader needs to hear.

There are two parts to this book. Part I talks about the battle for your thought life (ex. Recognize the Lies). Part II is about the lies women tell themselves (ex. I'm not good enough).

I felt the author did a good job of explaining a woman's thought life while telling the reader about her own struggles and how she overcame those struggles.

This book is for the woman who struggles with her thought life. I also believe it would make a good counseling book. As an added bonus there is a quick reference guide on replacing lies with truth and a Bible study guide included in the book.

My favorite piece of scripture listed in the book is John 8:32: `Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.`

Sharon Jaynes takes us on a journey in this book starting with the ugly lies that come from none other than the father of lies himself. Lies that women so often believe about themselves. Worthless. Unloved. Ugly. Stupid. Unacceptable. Unforgivable. Dirty. Unhappy. Failure.
Not Good Enough!!!!!

As you read through each chapter Sharon tells about the lies that Satan tells us, and teaches us through Scripture and biblical wisdom how to recognize the enemy and reject his lies by replacing them with God's beautiful truth's!

By the end of the book, Sharon will have you convinced of the truth. The truth is we are all God's beloved daughters, and we believe we are who He says we are. Deeply loved. Completely forgiven. Fully pleasing. Priceless treasure. New creation. Accepted. Chosen. Holy. Valuable. Redeemed. Cleansed. Free. We are Enough!!!!!

I love the Quick Reference Guide at the end of the book titled; Replacing the Lies with the Truth! This section will be great to remind ourselves of God's beautiful truth's when the enemy tries to creep in with his lies. Sharon gives examples of the lies and how to reject each lie with God's truth and the Scripture to back it up. I will not be putting this book in the closet, I plan to keep it close by for reference, and to read again.

This book can be read alone, but I would highly recommend doing it as a Bible Study with a group of women. At the very end of the book Sharon has included and amazing Bible Study Guide to use as you go along in your study.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with the lies of the enemy, but also know that everyone who reads this book will be touched and changed in a great way.

I was given a copy of this book for my participation in the "Enough" launch team. This is my honest review.

What Can You Do When You Feel You're Just Not Good Enough?
Do the voices in your head say you're not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough...or just not enough, period? It's time to stop listening to lies that sabotage your confidence and embrace the truth of who God says you are.

Popular author and speaker Sharon Jaynes exposes the lies that keep you bogged down in shame, insecurity, and feelings of inadequacy. By recognizing the lies and replacing them with truth, you'll be able to

• silence the voice inside that whispers you're just not good enough
• accept God's grace and move past failures that have defined and confined you
• preload your heart with truth to fight your deepest insecurities

Your confidence and faith will grow when you trade self-defeating thoughts for God's truth. Today is the day to embrace your incredible worth as a woman who is uniquely fashioned and spiritually empowered.

As women we start collecting and believing a number of lies about ourselves. This book shows how to change our minds from self-defeating thoughts (such as worthless, unloved, ugly, stupid, unforgivable, failure, not good enough) to God's truth and His promises for us. This book shows us how to identify the lie, expose the lie so that we can move into the truth that frees us.

I have been so blessed by being able to be a part of the launch team for the new book by Sharon Jaynes, Enough: Silencing the Lies that Steal your Confidence! I'm so excited to share this with everyone! There is so much practical information to help us in this book. One thing truly stuck me in my reading. Sharon wrote, "Once we come to Christ, we can no longer truthfully say, "I can't help myself. This is just the way I am." You can do All things God call you to do through Christ, who strengthens you. You are no longer a slave to sin. You now have a choice. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to turn "I can't" into "with God's help, I can."" WOW! How powerful is that! I do not have that excuse any longer. She even writes about forgiveness in her book and how to forgive someone who really has done the unforgiveable to you! I have struggled for many years with unforgiveness toward a person and this section of her new book has really helped me to be able to start working on forgiving. Sharon writes in her book, “we cannot get better if we remain bitter and as long as we don’t forgive, we are held in Satan’s vise grip. So if there is someone in your life you need to forgive, don’t miss this opportunity to get this book and put into practice. Think about this – Sharon wrote, “Unforgiveness is how we securely bind ourselves to what we hate most.” If that doesn’t strike a nerve to want to forgive that person, I don’t know what would. Everyone should read this book!

Wow, what a book! I feel like God chose this book just for me by speaking to my personal needs in so many ways! Sharon Jaynes’ writing style makes the reading so easy, meaningful and personal with imagery, analogies and personal stories of struggles and success. The first big concept I learned is the power of Satan in my life. I have always had problems with jealousy and now I realize that Satan has been placing negative thoughts in my mind. I have been practicing some of the strategies presented in the book to reject these lies and swat them out of my mind. I also have been working on obedience to God, something I’ve always had difficulty with, lacking the confidence to step out in faith. After reading Sharon’s words, I now realize that with the Holy Spirit living and working in me I have the God-fidence to do big things. God wants us to rely on Him and I am not responsible for the outcome of my obedience, only God is (Sharon’s words, not mine). I am now preparing to start and serve on 2 new committees that will make big changes at my church.
I highly recommend this book to women of all ages. I only wish I would have known all this when I was younger - better late than never! I am so excited about the woman I am becoming - Enough for me and Enough for God!
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I did purchase an additional copy of the book to share with a friend and will also be doing a bible study at my church with this book.

Enough of the lies of the enemy…
Have you have ever felt like you are helpless, there is no hope, life is getting the best of you. This book is just for you. So, grab a quit place to put your feet up and dive right in to this book. This book was/is a blessing to me. I was so glad to be apart of the launch team to be able to give my opinion. Sharon did such a wonderful job with this book. I love how she was transparent.
The information in this book opened my eyes to see how the enemy had me believing things that were not true about myself. As Sharon put it “The lies of the enemy created limitation in my life. They were the barbed wire that fenced me in and kept God’s best at bay.”.
Don’t allow the enemy keep stealing your joy, your peace, your marriage, your calling… and the list goes on because he is trying to roar like a lion, but he is not. Stand your ground, gear up in the full armor of God. Know who You are in Christ Jesus. All this is what I have taken from reading this book. When I am thinking something negative, I know that it is just the lies that the enemy is telling me. I know for myself who I am in Christ Jesus. I know I am good enough for whatever God has planted in me.
So, I pray that as you take read this book you continue to grow and be bless and tell the devil he is a LIAR and we will not listen to any more of his lies. We will not have conversations with him any longer. Blessings to Sharon, her family, the Launch team to all the bookstores who will be selling this great book.

Last summer, I attended a wonderful presentation by Sharon Jaynes at She Speaks. She is a gifted storyteller who speaks with honesty and wisdom, which shines in this new book.

So many of us women feel like we’re not good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, or young enough to measure up to cultural expectations. I’m been one of those women. Sharon says that the enemy holds us captive in the lies that we aren’t enough, and she dispels those lies in Enough: Silencing the Lies That Steal Your Confidence.

If you want to recognize the lies in your thought life and replace them with God’s truth, Enough is the best summer read for you. It’s a battle plan to remove the lies and replace them with God’s promises.

My favorite quotes:

“I think a phrase from the 1990's should be resurrected…’Talk to the hand, ’cause the face isn’t listening’…We can say that to the devil when he tries to engage us in conversation to try to confuse us or condemn us.”

“Renewing your mind is somewhat like replacing wallpaper. Getting the old paper off is the hard part…most of the time it’s a tedious process that takes patience and determination.”

“There’s no closeout sale, end-of-the-year clearance, or discount coupon when it comes to your worth as a child of God.”

The book also contains a Study Guide for group discussion and an extensive “Replacing the Lies with the Truth Quick Reference Guide.” I’m still mulling over the truths Sharon revealed, and I think they will stick with you too.

Netgalley graciously provided a review copy of this book.

I don't know about you, but the voices in my head are so loud with lies that the truth fights to get in.  But I've had enough, and my guess is that you have, too.  It's time to do some spring cleaning and toss out the words that are taking up too much space--ugly, unworthy, failure, not enough--and replace them with positive words--beautiful, worthy, enough.  God's Word tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14) and that no matter what we've done or who we think we are, God loves us and calls us His own.

Sharon Jaynes reinforces these words in "Enough" by exposing the lies that we have believed that keep us bogged down in shame.

"One thing we can learn from Eve is this: Do not dialogue with the devil. Don't engage in conversation with him or argue with him. Once you start dialoguing with the enemy, it's hard to stop. And you will never come out unscathed. The best course of action is to reject the lie right away."  (p. 57)

Not only is "Enough" filled with spiritual wisdom, Jaynes has also include a Bible study and a Quick Reference Guide to help you replace lies with the truth.

This is a book with very heavy biblical tones. There are religious passages to start the chapters and the reasoning follows a simple logic - Trust God. Believe in Him. He is taking care of you. Everything will sort itself out. There are quotes from the Bible to support the statements that the author makes.

Now, I am a religious person myself (although not Christian) and therefore wasn't put off by it even though I wasn't expecting such heavy currents.

I liked parts of the book, especially the parts talking about the insecurities that girls face. As a girl, I agree with everything the author has put down in the book. The stories were okay. Not good, not bad. I was ambivalent towards them. They didn't really generate any reaction. The part I didn't like was where the author shared stories of some ladies who had abortions and believed they had performed a sin. The author didn't exactly condone their behaviour. She told them that God has already forgiven them. Maybe it's the millennial in me speaking but I don't understand that line of reasoning.

And that's what the book was for me in a nutshell - okay. It wasn't amazing. It wasn't bad. It was just meh.

If you are a Christian or a keen believer in God, you might take out more from the book.

I received a free copy from Netgalley. This doesn't affect my review in any way.

An Important Book Women Must Read

Enough: Silencing the Lies That Steal Your Confidence from Sharon Jaynes, is an important, much-needed, must-read book for women. Sharon Jaynes gives women the tools they need to confront the lies that depreciate their value and their worth. She refers to scriptures from God's Word and shows women how to apply them. As women apply the truth of God's Word, they will find confidence and spiritual empowerment to live a life of strength and purpose.
Sharon Jaynes guides women to the foundation of their true worth: their identity in Christ. She helps women understand the schemes and lies of the enemy, and how to confront those lies with the truth. Enough is a book that leads readers to develop a healthy thought life and a correct view of themselves, instead of a distorted one.
I very highly recommend Enough. With the quick reference section in the back of the book for replacing the lies with the truth, and the included Bible Study Guide, readers will have the tools needed for moving beyond self-defeating, negative thoughts to realizing their value, security, and uniqueness in Christ. Enough is a book for any woman and every woman.

Do you doubt your abilities? Do you hear a small (or loud) voice in your head telling you not to try something because you may fail? Do you look at yourself in the mirror and find all of your flaws? My answer was “Yes” to all of these questions … Until I read this book. Wow, Sharon Jaynes has nailed it again – writing another book that speaks directly to me, to us, women of today’s society. No matter your age, I think we can all agree that at some time or another, we have believed at least one of the lies we hear the enemy whisper to us which then turns into a statement we digest, ingest, and believe; “I’m not good enough, I’m worthless, I’m such a failure, I’m so ugly, My life is hopeless.” Sharon addresses these lies and more as she helps us recognize our true enemy, recognize these lies, reject these lies, and replace these lies with the truth – God’s Truth. I absolutely LOVE this book and am ordering copies for my girlfriends!!!! I believe this is a Must-Read for all women!!!!
* I received an advanced copy of this book as part of the Enough Book Launch Team. I had time to read it and provide my honest review.

Enough: Silencing the Lies that Steal Your Confidence by Sharon Jaynes is a book that has opened my eyes to the lies that Satan tells us in order to pull us from the One who loves us. This book equips women with truth to defeat the lies that we have believed regarding our worth and value. The first section of the book addresses the battle for our thought life. Sharon shows us Satan’s play book and equips us with ways to recognize and defeat the lies. The second portion of the book addresses more specific lies that women tell themselves. For example, “I’m not good enough”, “I’m worthless”, “I’m so ugly”, and many other areas. In the book she shows the reader how to replace those lies with God’s truth. How to rearrange our thinking so that we are able to believe God’s truth and not the lies that have been on repeat. This is a book that I will continue to reference. It has changed my thinking and made me more aware of the spiritual warfare that we are all under. After reading this book I feel more equipped to take on this battle.

The title says it all, but regardless of if lies come from yourself or the world, or from overly perfectionist tendencies, Ms. Jaynes helps bring them to your attention and walk through the problem to hopefully find healing.

I really appreciated this one! It was the right read at the right time and brought several items to light in my own life that I hadn't even realized I was holding on to. I honestly feel like this is an important read for any woman (men would get some insight from it, but would benefit more from a similar title for their own troubles), of any adult age and any marital statis, which I've found to be very rare in devotionals. Would be an excellent women's small group read, but may dig a little too much into personal matters for a bigger group.

Content notes: No language issues, though it does cover denigrating words people use against each other and themselves. Sensuality issues are covered, but broadly; mostly by discussing being hurt or causing hurt which can cover adultery and rape, with affects covered more than details of the actual sin. Violent issues are similarly explored, with minimal abuse described.

Definately need to add this to your reading list in 2018!

I was so blessed to be an advance reader for this book. Sharon has by far surpassed her other books, this book is a must read to be next on your list. I never realized how many lies I have come to believe about myself, this book really opened up my heart and caused me to reflect and examine deep within what I have allowed to be acceptable. The stories from women woven throughout this book really spoke to me as I have experienced some of those same struggles and trials.
Learning the steps to take those thoughts captive was just what I needed from this book and to see what God says about who I am in Him and how the lies do not line up with what God’s Word says. We all have difficulties in life and Sharon does a wonderful job pointing us to the Savior who came to defeat the lies we have come to believe. In Christ we are ENOUGH!
This book touched me and made an impact that I had to buy a copy for my mom and daughter!

TOOLKIT for DISARMING the ENEMY!
MUST-READ for all women. I don't know a woman who wouldn't benefit from this book. There are numerous aspects of life where we are made to feel like we can never be enough on our own - and we have an enemy who is determined to convince us that we will never "measure-up." Sharon Jaynes confronts the lies that play on repeat in the minds of women - she uses real stories from her life and the lives of other women to demonstrate how debilitating those lies can be - then she teaches how to replace those lies with truths from God's word. I picked up this book because I enjoy this author - thinking it would be an inspiring read. I am a confident woman in Christ. However, I’ve realized there are still areas where the enemy tries to hold me back from advancing the kingdom. We can be our own worst enemy and biggest critics. This book has given me tools to disarm the enemy.

It was an honor to be selected to participate in the book launch for “Enough: Silencing The Lies That Steal Your Confidence” by Sharon Jaynes. I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. This book couldn’t of came at a better time in my life. I’ve been working on this change in my thought life for many years. I’ve always known that I’ve been waging war with the enemy, but couldn’t always identify with or recognize the lies that I allowed to be planted in my life. The truths in this book helped me to learn how to recognize and reject the lies of the enemy and to refocus on God’s truth. With God’s help strongholds are being broken and my thought life continues to shift in the right direction. I know that I am chosen, holy, worthy of God’s love, and that I am enough. Because of these truths I can experience victory!

There are times as women that we feel discouraged, unaccepted, and unloved. In this encouraging book, Sharon Jaynes takes us through the Bible to show us just how much we are loved and accepted by God. This study is filled with Scripture to refute the lies that we believe about ourselves, yet holds us accountable for righteous living. Through personal illustrations, Sharon encourages and admonishes us to draw closer to God by studying and believing His Word. This would be a good personal study and would also work very well as a group Bible study. There are lessons included at the end of the book that help apply the pricnciples to our own lives.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion about this book.

Sharon Jaynes does it again!
I've read several of Sharon Jaynes' books, but I do believe this one has to be my favorite (my second favorite is, "The Power of a Woman's Words"). This book encouraged and challenged me in a very practical way! One quote, in particular, sticks out in my mind, "I am not responsible for the outcome of my obedience. God is." So Powerful! I also thoroughly enjoyed the style in which this book was written - such transparency with real stories, yet packed full with applicable truths from the Bible.
I did receive an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. However, I absolutely plan on purchasing about 50 books for an upcoming Bible Study I will be teaching! I trust the women will love it as much as I have!

Starting with page 1, I was immediately comfortable with Sharon’s easy to read style and could relate to almost every story and example used throughout the book. For most of my life, I’ve thought I wasn’t “good enough” or “smart enough” or “talented enough” or … on and on and on.

The first “truth” you’ll discover in this book is that you’re not alone when experiencing confidence-stealing self-talk. Many of us feel insignificant, without skills, and just plain “not good enough”. Sharon encourages us with her easy-to-understand explanations on how to see through the lies and recognize God’s truth. She also provides a “quick reference” of each lie, a reminder of the truth and scripture for reinforcement.

I've enjoyed Sharon Jaynes blog for some time now so when I heard this book was coming out, I knew it was something I just had to read! The book was an eye-opener for me in so many ways. Women are led to believe these lies in our society and it's so ingrained in our reality that it had never occurred to me the enemy was funneling these lies into being! I believe this book can help so many who feel they are not enough by finally giving them a map to silence the lies. I love the real testimonies entwined with biblical references. Such a great read that I will recommend to all my friends and family.
