Lemon Bars with a Side of Murder Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery, Book 4 By: Meredith Potts Narrated by: Lisa Beacom This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I love this series. They are fun with great clues and suspects. Our gal of the story is always determined to find the killer and her boyfriend is a detective so this time he just gives in and lets her help. I thought this was the best one so far. The narrator was great at the voices and mood inflections. She kept the story rolling at just the right pace. Great job.
Sabrina Daley, manager of the family owned coffee shop, Daley Buzz, and her boyfriend Detective David Carlson are looking forward to a break after solving the murder of Sabrina’s friend. They feel that they can finally relax for a while…or can they?
Given the secretive nature of the town’s hypnotherapist, Gregory Morton, and with many of his patients complaining about severe headaches, Sabrina has good reason to be concerned. Especially since some of her friends are among the patients suffering the symptoms.
Then Sabrina finds Gregory with a knife sticking in his chest. Now she and David are again faced with the problem of ridding their town of a murderer.
Can they solve the case before the killer strikes again? Among the people/victims who had problems with Gregory are his wife and girlfriend. Will they alienate some of their own friends by asking the questions they feel must be answered?
Meredith Potts has done it again with Lemon Bars with a Side of Murder. The story is excellently written with characters that could be your next door neighbor or someone you work with. The book has short chapters that make you feel that you can read “just one more chapter” before you have to put the book down.
I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading more books in the series.
I received an ARC version of this book, but the review is entirely my own thoughts.
Lemon Bars with a side of Murder: Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery, Book 4 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Lisa Beacom is a perfect choice for fans of cozies everywhere! Being that this is the first audiobook in the series I have listened to, I was a little nervous that I might feel a little lost, but that was not the case at all. This very easily could be considered a stand alone. At about 3.5 hours, I found this to be just what the doctor ordered. I love listening to shorter books in between the longer ones, so if the others in this series are of similar length, I definitely plan to add them to my Audible library, too! I'll let you read the plot synopsis on your own so you don't have to hear it twice. I will say, I found the storyline to be well thought out, fast moving, and engaging! I'm looking forward to exploring more audiobooks by Meredith Potts. :-) Her writing is entertaining, and I'm happy to have discovered her work!
Lisa Beacom's performance kept me smiling throughout. She did a great job with the voices of each character, and it is clear she enjoys being a narrator! :-) Her volume, pace, and pronunciation were right on cue, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from her in the future.
Overall, I give Lemon Bars with a side of Murder: Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery, Book 4 by Meredith Potts, narrated by Lisa Beacom a 4-4.3/5 stars. I recommend it to those who love cozy mysteries, as well as to those who are looking for a shorter, entertaining, clean "whodunnit" audiobook. I plan to check out more from the author, and possibly start at the beginning with Book 1. Until next time, happy listening!
Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)
In this fourth book Sabrina stumbles across a pill that's a Hypnotherapist uses on his patients, which in turn leads to His Murder.Sabrina is drawn into helping David solve this murder. She knows it is tied into the Mystery Men's social club. But they can't get the needed information. Knowing and proving it is difficult. Can they solve this case before someone else dies?
Sabrina wants to stop the Dr who is prescription pills, someone had the same idea, the killer. With her cop boyfriend David, she is sleuthing once again. Given ARC audible for my voluntary review and my honest opinion The story and narration by Lisa Beacom are very good.
In this 4th installment of Daley Buzz Sabrina stumbles across a pill that the hypnotherapist uses on his patients, which in turn leads to his untimely death. With a new murder mystery on Sabrina and Davids plate things with the secret meeting are just not adding up and she thinks it all ties together. Can they solve another murder before it is too late?
These books are great little cozy mysteries to read. Each book grows more and more with the characters and the side mysteries to solve. The mystery of the haunted house was solved last book and now the town has torn it down and can rest easy again. Still wondering when her sister’s disapperence will come to light. Guess we will have to wait.
LEMON BARS with a SIDE of MURDER is the fourth book in the Daley Buzz Cozy Mysteries. While each will probably stand on its own, it’s probably best to read each in the order of release.
I have come to the conclusion that this series is wonderful as a “my first cozy mysteries” for teens and tween.” The series is fun, easy to listen to, and easy to follow. The characters and the town are growing.
This is the series I turn to when I need a cozy, but don’t want to think too hard. That isn’t a put down. That is me, relaxing. That is me, recognizing the advantage to a simpler plot line. Too often real life is overwhelming and a simpler plot is just what I need to get through, or, as I said earlier, it becomes a great first cozy series for younger readers.
Narration: Lisa Beacom does a nice job of narrating and has a pleasant voice.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Sabrina found a tablet at the end of book 3 that she gets tested at the start of this book, it turns out it is 'prescribed' by the local hypnotherapist, Gregory Morton, so she and David decide to head over to talk to him about it only to the man murdered with a knife sticking in his chest! We know from previous books that Gregory Morton is a strange character - he only takes on male patients and he seems to be involved with the secret society that David and Sabrina are also trying to get to the bottom to.
Sabrina and David once again go around the suspects until they strike gold - and not only find Gregory's murder but also unravel the mystery of the secret society
The Narration: Lisa Beacom once again bring this cozy mystery to life with her characterisation of Sabrina and co. The audible was one again clear and crisp

This cozy mystery series finds multiple murders showing up in Treasure Cove. This gives the duo plenty to do besides having quiet date nights. There are clues to
follow to solve the crimes. Some big secrets will be uncovered, but plenty more remain.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Lisa Beacom continues to bring this series to life.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This series is just a lot of fun, and as I continue to listen, I get caught further in the clutches of Sabrina and David's cases. This one features the murder of the town hypnotherapist, Gregory Morton. For me, this character holds some interest, only treating men and we don't know why. His murder is unexpected and these two will not let the case go cold. Through interrogations of friends we have met and new characters, there is much information to gather. But is it enough to find the killer? Add in the secret meetings that have been taking place, Betsy and Elizabeth in the coffee shop and a side of the delicious lemon bars Sabrina is eating and you have several hours of entertainment. I am still waiting to see if we find out about Jessica, Sabrina's missing sister, so am going to dive into book 5! Lisa Beacom is the voice of this series for me, and I am enjoying her narration. With lots spunk, she keeps the level of fun high with her performance!
Puzzled by the strange behavior of several of his patients, Sabrina manages to obtain a pill prescribed by a local hypnotherapist with the intention of finding out what he's been peddling to his patients. Unfortunately before she has an opportunity to have it analyzed, the "good" doctor winds up dead and she and her cop boyfriend David are off on another sleuthing adventure to try and find out who-dun-it. Another delightful round of interviews with the denizens of Treasure Cove with cameos from all the locals I've come to love - and hate - and frequent stops for coffee and treats at the Daily Buzz. The "secret society" that's been lurking in the shadows for the last couple of novels gets a closer look and Sabrina gets to do her stuff in her irrepressibly frank and snarky way. Fun reading if you like you murders clean, neat and all tied up with a bow by the last chapter. I enjoyed it.
After her ex-boyfriend Wally drops a pill his hypnotherapist gave him for his headaches, Sabrina gets suspicious and decides to have John, a chemistry teacher, analyze the contents. They are both surprised to find the pill contained dextramaltin, an illegal substance derived from the Jimbaya plant in Southeast Asia, known for its mind-altering properties. Why would a Wally’s therapist be giving him this drug? It must have something to do with Gregory Morton’s grand claims about his transformative hypnosis, which always sounded suspicious to Sabrina. But before she and David, her Detective boyfriend, could ask him about it, Gregory is found murdered in his office. They determine that what looks like a burglary gone wrong, probably isn’t, as the only thing missing is the bottles of dextramaltin! A lot of people, including patients, were not happy with Gregory, but can they figure out which one killed him? A great murder mystery as you watch them try to sort things out!
In the fourth book of Meredith Potts' Daley Buzz mysteries, Sabrina Daley and her police officer boyfriend, David Carlson, have another mystery to solve a.s.a.p. Sabrina has seen her ex-boyfriend, Wally Tuttle, and he just isn't acting right. He has been taking a specialized blend pill to stop headaches. Sabrina takes one of the pills to a chemistry teacher at Treasure Cove High School. What she discovers is that the pill contains dextramaltin derived from the root of the Jimbaya plant. It is illegal and known for its mind-altering properties. The side affects include delusions, mood swings, and even paranoia. The pills were distributed by hypnotherapist, Gregory Morton. Unfortunately, before the duo can question Morton, he is found dead! Once again they go into sleuth mode and begin to question their top suspects. This is another entertaining book that continues where book three left off, but leaves us with more unanswered questions! On to book 5!
** audio book review ** This book started off right away on a mystery that has been plaguing Sabrina the whole series so far. (Not read the other book, start this series now!) This book gave the readers/listeners answers that we have been waiting for. Yes there are still plenty of mysteries in Treasure Cove, but it was nice to get some things answered. The murder mystery in this book affected the whole town and when the murderer was discovered Sabrina and her detective boyfriend Dave discovered more than just who did it. Now Treasure Cove is going to be changing and I hope it's for the good. I loved this book. This one is my favorite so far. This narrator really did a good job with the different characters and I really believe she is Sabrina. I love this series and can't wait for more mysteries to be solved in Treasure Cove. The big one still has me curious.
This next book continues on the investigation of strange activities in Treasure Cove. It definitely is best to read these books in order as there is a bit of overlap from story to story. Sabrina is continuing to investigate crimes with her Detective boyfriend, David Carlson. The mysteries are short and enjoyable. At times there is a campiness to the stories but they are fun to read. They aren't necessarily the most deep and developed mysteries with tons of details, but there is an ongoing thread that indicates a well thought out plot line that makes the books very enjoyable. If you have a sweet tooth at all this series will provide a sugar fill or make your mouth water. Either way I plan to continue to read the series to see how Treasure Cove evolves
Sabrina & her cop boyfriend set out to find the killer of the hypnotist in town. The clues lead them to many suspects & the ending brings closure to another mystery in town.
I am a huge cozy mystery fan and love stories set in small towns. My biggest pick with this author is the constant physical descriptions of each character. We don't need to read height, weight, body type, hair color & eye color of every person Sabrina meets.
I have several books in the series after getting them for free from various sites. Usually that encourages me to buy the stories in between the freebies. That will likely not be the case here as much as I like the characters.
The story continues with this book. Will they find out what happened to her sister? Will the secrets of the mysterious society be revealed? Will the hypnotist actions have a reaction from his patients? When the hypnotist's body is discovered it leads to further questions. Who wanted him dead? The list grows as the more they discover the more suspects they have. Will the answer provide them with a breakthrough in the mysteries of the town? A great read but just wish the author wod get round to the burning question we all have. Why did her sister disappear?
The local hypnotist may be dispensing more than just suggestions to change his patient’s behavior and apparently someone was mortally offended. The doctor is the latest murder case for Sabrina Daley and her boyfriend, Detective David Carlson and every lead they follow seems to be a dead end. A possibility of a link between the doctor and a secret society may provide clues but also unknown dangers.
Sabrina and David are likable and have good chemistry going, along with a little romance. They may be the main characters, but the supporting characters add a lot to the plot in this series, including Snickerdoodle. I am really enjoying this series.
Another whodunit involving Sabrina Daily and Detective David Carlson. This time the victim is Gregory Morton, a hypnotherapist in Treasure Cove. The ex-boyfriends of Sabrina and her friend, Shannon, are both suspects. A town's secret society member, which gets extra attention this time, is also a suspect. Like those stories before, the reader is unlikely to be able to solve the crime much before the big reveal. Still an interesting story.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
Barista Sabrina Daley is again drawn into a murder investigation, and she still is dealing with the repercussions of the last one. She knows it's tied to the mystery men's 'social club' but neither she nor her detective boyfriend can get the needed information. She knows the dead man was up to something shady and that drugs are involved, but knowing and proving are to different things. The pair is able to arrest the murderer and the town has finally torn down the 'haunted house'....But you know there is more to come. I received an ARC gratis to peruse and offer my opinion...or not.
When Sabrina finds a pill that her ex boyfriend being taking from the elusive hypothesis that has only been accepting male clients she has David test the pill. Turns out the pill contains a natural grown sedative. But before they could question him, he is found murdered in the morning in his office as he is found by his receptionist.
The suspects are plenty include the wife, girl friend and her ex boyfriend and the secret society that may or may not exist. Another intriguing read by the author ass we get closer to Sabrina’s missing sister.
This is the 4th book in the series and can be a great stand alone. I love how her books are short, clean and cozy. No foul language, gore or sex. She is an amateur sleuth with a detective boyfriend who together solves murders. She has numerous suspects to interview. I love how she brings desserts into her books. The characters are believable and interesting and some even likable. The narration maintains your interest. Each book gets better. Thank you Meredith for books I czn share with young adults and my family. I enjoyed your book.
I was blessed with a free copy of this book, and have chosen of my own volition to share this review with you!
The saga continues in this installment of the Daley Buzz series. The characters are adequately developed. The story line has many twists and turns. The overall vibe of the book is a feel good read, which is weird for a murder mystery. The characters and the situations seem life-like.
I keep enjoying this series. This time the victim is that shady hypnotherapist whom we know from previous books, and the investigation will lead us to uncover what's really going on with that secret society... finally! *laughs*
As always, Sabrina and David are a delight, and, as with the other books by this author, this is a clean, lovely cosy that would appeal to the fans of the genre.
Lemon Bars with a Side of Murder, My thirty-third read from author Meredith Potts and the fourth in the Daily Buzz Mystery Series, different than her other series in that there is an ongoing thread throughout the first four books. Longer, at 149 pages, than many of the author's books I've read earlier. Well-written & enjoyable. another cute, clean cozy mystery. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Another Sabrina mystery. Suspects abound as a very disliked gentleman is found dead. We met past suspects to help narrow down the case. There were close acquaintances who became suspects. Sabrina and David worked together to investigate, and I enjoyed their journey. The narration by Lisa Beacom was well done. Her distinct voices for all the characters kept them separated in my mind.
I received a copy of the audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is the fourth book in the series and it didn't disappoint. It's a book about a women who helps her boyfriend who is a cop solve murders. It is a wholesome book with no gore or cursing. I really love this author's books. It kept me guessing until the very end. If you like good mysteries this book is for you. Can't wait for the next book to come out.
Love this series. It just keeps getting better with each book. Sabrina and David are sleuthing again, another murder has occurred in Treasure Cove. The twist in the end was a welcome closure of a mystery that was plaguing the town. If you love a good mystery and great recipes then this book is for you. Totally recommend this book, and the series, to all mystery lovers.
