Where’s Your Creativity by Aaron Rosen and Riley Watts, illustrated by Marika Maijala. PICTURE BOOK. Tate Publishing (Abrams), 2017. $17. 9781849765091

BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - ESSENTIAL.

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

This books answers the question in the title with the idea that it is all around you. Creativity is in the ideas you have and the dreams you experience at night. Creativity isn’t just in your head, but also in your body through stretching and dancing. It is in the clothes you choose to wear and the food you like and the art you make. There are so many ways to experience creativity.

This is a great book, especially for the age when kids start to think dualistically about creativity - you are or you aren’t. This would be a fun book to open a conversation on what students like to do creatively and what they would like to explore in the future. Any book that opens a student’s view on the way they can experience the world is a positive in my book!

This book talks about how we can find our creativity within our lives and even in our sleep. We can be creative everywhere we go even when we don't see it, we are still being creative. The author compares your clothing with your creativity even if you pick out a certain outfit you are still using your inner creativity.
