Nearly everything in this novel is over the top. That shouldn't surprise you given the title.
In my world as a long-time journalist, the word 'tabloid' promises splashy, trashy and shallow content.
In this book, the setting is over the top (satirically so in a place as blingy as Las Vegas), the characters are over the top (some wonderfully so, others bizzarely so), some of the sex scenes are not just over the top but quite disgusting, and the storyline is over the top.
The one thing that's not over

VEGAS TABLOID is the third book of the Las Vegas trilogy by author P Moss, and is a story of Jimmy Dot, the resident entertainer at The Fabulous, a seventy-seven story hotel/casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Jimmy, along with his “Jimmy Dot Circus”(including Dr. Zazzo, Poontang Johnson, Jenn O. Cide, and Sparkle Short) are well known and in-demand performers known for their on and off stage antics.

If you, like me, are a fan of weird, off-beat outrageous, quirky characters and fast-paced action which is definitely outside the realm of normal behavior, then Vegas Tabloid is for you. I found P Moss’ writing to be an interesting amalgam of several of my favorite authors: Elmore Leonard, Carl Hiaasen, Hunter S. Thompson and George Clayton Johnson (Oceans 11). If this book is ever adapted into a movie, then it has to be directed by Quentin Tarantino. Vegas Tabloid is a hedonistic ride into the ...more

What can we say on such a Las Vegan entertaining thriller with criminals in clown attire and assassins in business tuxedos? Not much and yet there is so much to tell about, to speak about.

We all know Las Vegas is the casino capital of the USA, though not quite of the world. We all know there are many TV series taking place in this city, its casinos, its hotels, its desert. We all know it is a tremendously polluting city in the middle of a virginal desert though it was ruined, soiled and polluted

Vegas Tabloid is a thrilling, compelling, crime novel that kept me entertained and hooked until the last page. Vegas Tabloid is a phenomenal piece of fiction with an enthralling plot, as well as addictive literature. The literature kept me turning the pages; I was impatient as I moved from one page to the next, and as I neared the end of each page as well as the end of each chapter I was compelled by the author to keep on reading! I loved this astonishing book and believe that all of you will en ...more

What was the bet between Jimmy Dot & Bill Revson?
Sparkle Short (sex-crazed midget, Elvis dresser) & Madison greeted Owen Howard (investigative reporter, Dartmouth).
He was there to interview Preston Bond.
Who as far as everyone knew, had been sighted all over the US at various places.
Randy Leeds (billionaire, ECco Green Pharmaceutical CEO) name was brought up.

Las Vegas, NV. Jimmy ran a lucrative vaudeville circus; of let’s say sideshow freaks: Dr. Zazzo, Sparkle Short, Poontang Johnson,

The author provided this writers addition of this book. The following review was not anyway influence by the manner that I received the copy.

The author has a story line in this book that as all type of possibilities. The author populated his story line with characters that are easy to visualize. First there is the con man supreme, Jimmy Dot, and surrounded his own gang of carnies. On the other side we find Fuller, acting like he owns Hotel Fabulous, who is black mailing Jimmy to ke

This book is one you may wonder if you will even read it to the end. But as you read the book draws you in with its storyline and side bars . I could not put it down. The main character is an entertainer named Jimmy Dot who with his cast of misfits is the biggest and hottest show in Vegas. He meets a man by the name of Revson in a bar who was one of the main researchers who developed a drug that cures the common cold named ZeeFil. The problem is it's side effect. It causes pancreatic cancer. Rev ...more

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. This book was highly entertaining, as is Las Vegas. Show-master and con man Jimmy Dots has a very successful Jimmy Dots Circus at the Fabulous Hotel, which included his wife Jenny and friends Zazzo, Poontang, and Sparkle the midget. Jimmy was blackmailed into signing a contract with the hotel by Blake Fuller, who had info on the man who had had an affair with Jimmy's mom and was responsible for his father's death. The hotel ...more

Vegas Tabloid by P. Moss is an engagingly odd thriller with an even odder cast of characters. Jimmy Dot, a master con man, is the ringmaster for a circus of former criminals who make up one of Las Vegas’s most popular casino acts. Forced by an unscrupulous casino boss into a lucrative contract that he wants out of, Jimmy meets a disgraced scientist who once worked for a giant pharmaceutical company that’s about to release a drug to market that will kill thousands. Momentarily shelving his plan t ...more

In an effort of full disclosure, I was given a copy of this book to review by the author, P. Moss. Prior to this book I had not read any of his work.

"Vegas Tabloid," which reads almost like a movie made of an Elmore Leonard book, is many different things at once: a love story, a crime story, a tale of greed, a story of friendship, and much more. It's also the story of a ringmaster for an adult-themed circus who has made a bet it seems he can't possibly win. In the meantime there is a lot of kink

This story is so over the top that I don't even know how to classify it. There are so many plot lines and twists, that at times its hard to keep up with who is doublecrossing who. Set at "The Fabulous", a made up Vegas hotel, you have a scientist trying to warn the world that a new cold medication causes pancreatic cancer, a "circus" master being forced to perform every night trying to save his wife from deportation, a little person who draws women's vaginas in an odd attempt to gain their atten ...more

This book reads like a movie. It was like a movie was going on in my head while reading. The cast of characters, let by a con man is something else. i have never read about characters such as these, but they are right where they belong, in this novel. And that is what makes the novel work. it is crazy and will make you say "really???" to some situations in the book, but it works. It works to the point you will not want to put this book down until the last page. It pulls you in and does not let y ...more

I won this book in a giveaway and I was not disappointed. As someone who loves crime novels and hated "Fear and Loathing", "Vegas Tabloid" is the happy medium between crime, Las Vegas, comedy, and serious business.

The characters are deep enough that you can feel a connection with them but not so deep as to require the reader to go back and figure out who's who. The plot is simple enough that I read it in two sittings intriguing enough that I didn't want to put the book down.

Excellent fun twisting chaos set in Sin City. Loved the flow and characters especially Jenn O. Cide, Poontang and Sparkle. Chapters kept bumping along and with the perfect amount of words to keep them short yet with plenty to spark your mind and keep you interested. Moss is a creative writer with wicked imagination to keep the entertainment flowing just how the city of Las Vegas does for it's tourists and locals. Never a moment of dull calm. Now if someone can really invent the medication in th ...more

I usually cannot stand to read books about Las Vegas but this book is different. Simply an outstanding read, a page turner that will most definitely cut into your sleeping hours at night, but this book is worth sacrificing your beauty rest for. Highly recommend this book and excited to find out what P. Moss writes next. Be glad what happens in Vegas to Jimmy Dot doesn't stay in Vegas because we would be missing out big time.

I was on the edge of my seat with this one! A definite good read and re-read! I took this book on every outing and I'm sure people were wondering why I chuckled one minute and had eyes wide open the next. This book is gritty in a good way, sin city at its finest. Great plot, great characters, great finish.

Vegas Tabloid reads like a graphic comic book and that is no insult to P.Moss. The story explodes off the pages in vivid color and keeps your interest with its cast of crazy lovable characters. Short chapters allow the reader to view the action in 3D along with colorful real life dialogue making this a cant put down thriller.

This book was a very good Vegas crime read. It has rich people, lots of money, and over the top characters. Blackmail, murder, crooked ICE and FBI agents, a crooked former policeman, prostitues, and a weird type oc circus. Keeps you wondering what's going to happen next.

A wild tale of Vegas underbelly barely describes this book. I had a lot of fun reading it. It was by no means politically correct, respectable, or particularly realistic. What it WAS, however, was an oddly endearing, suspenseful, portrait of sin city and its more permanent inhabitants.

Astonishingly different book. Characters that are at once bizzarro and interesting, a plot that twists , turns, ducks, moves. Frankly strange sexual encounters at times, not your typical Vegas baby. Recomended to mature audiences.

Good storyline but a little more coarse than needed. Language wasn't neccessary to make the story ant better. Storyline kept the book in your hand wanting to see what would happen next!
