I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. I have no connection to D. Fischer.

This is a great little book. I enjoyed it all the way through, I really liked Makenna's character. Even Evo grew grew on me as the story went on. Makenna is a strong independent woman. She does not change just because she meets a strong Alpha male.

Makenna Goldwin grew up in foster care never knowing her parents or family. She grew up a loner depending on no one but herself. Now working as a pr

This is a book that kept me interested. It was the first book of this kind so I did not know what to expect but it reeled me in and kept me wondering about the duel intities and the mystery they were trying to solve. Enjoyable.

Not bad for a first book. It could use some more work though, but I'll talk about that later.

So the story is about Makenna Goldwin (duh! the title), a PI with empath abilities. She feels what people around her feel and it helps her in her work as she is basically a walking lie detector. She was asked by an FBI agent to assist in an interrogation of a man, suspected in abducting and possibly killing women all over

I absolutely adore Makenna. She's strong and independent and just says whatever smartass thought runs through her head. She's my spirit animal. I was totally not expecting that big reveal, and I loved how it explained so much about her as well as where the story went from there.

I also loved Evo and his pack. With the exception of one who shall not be mentioned, they were all lovable and fun characters. Their reactions to Kenna were great, and it was so epic how they stood with her during that s

For some strange reason reading books for reviews gives me anxiety; for two reasons. 1.) As much as being honest is programmed into my DNA, I never like hurting people’s feelings and 2.) I literally own hundreds of books rated 4 stars or higher and I take my book selections very seriously. Like it is a methodical method to picking out a book. I have issues (you got em too)

Let me just say, "WOW!" I was hooked from page 1 and simply couldn't put it down. It lends subtle hints that allow you to unravel the story just slightly before the main characters if you pay attention, but that lends to the draw of this particular novel. You simply can't help but keep reading to see if you are right! The change in perspective from one main character to another was easy to follow and lent depth to the characters that I think many modern novels lack.

I absolutely loved this book!!!! Just outstanding!! McKenna has a gift where she can read people, if they are lying or being truthful. So she is called in to help the FBI and there she meets hot, hunky Evo, who she is instantly drawn to. There is more to the case and more to Evo then Kenna knows. But Kenna is also more then she even knows, for she has been suppressing her inner wolf for as long as she can remember, thinking she was going crazy, and Evo, he is the Alpha of his pack....A must read ...more

A truly awesome story with strong characters! The story is very well developed that will have you HOOKED from the beginning to the very end.

I truly did love the relationship between Kenna and Evo!!! I loved seeing how their relationship grew into something truly powerful and strong.

I have always loved reading wolf shifter stories but this one takes on a whole new twist - well not completely new twist well not completely new but the style is very different from what I read in other books. How w

This book follows Makenna Goldwin, who is the kind of girl who hates high heels and dress clothes. She already knows that she is way different from the others, but later finds out why. The book also follows Evo Johnson who comes into play when he need help from Makenna. The Beta Ben thinks that Makenna is a witch because of her differences, which I found absolutely funny. The twist of Kenner’s Character really took me by surprise, with that being said I did end up getting a little confused betwe ...more

A different type of pack

The Cloven Pack is a different type of plot for a wolf shifter romance. The bad guy is different and oh-so much more vicious and evil than expected, the good guy so much more kind and compassionate, and the good girl so much more broken yet feisty than anyone could expect. Eco and Kenna work hard to love their tiny pack and keep them protected and I am looking forward to reading book two. The characters are complex and real, absolutely strong enough to complete a series.

Excellent read

I love how were introduced the main characters. It's an attraction That can't be explained. makenna is strong and a PI but she is an empath. Her struggle with her mind thinking that she has multiple personalities speak to me because it's her inner struggle. Then there's Evo the pack leader who is sorta FBI Who gets involved with her working on the case about missing women it was a very interesting story and I found it enjoyable and I give the Author kudos for their work and I would

This book was wonderful. At first, it was a bit slow. Once it got going it was great. It ended up being a pretty fast-paced story. I loved how she didn't understand herself or her family. I now need to read the rest of the books. The book was well written. I was able to see what she was describing and it was a good read. I can't wait to read the rest. 5 out of 5 stars.
It's what you expect a PNR to be

It's good, kind of cliche. I'm okay with that though it made me think of Feral Sin's in some ways. I don't expect every book to be original. I loved the name Evo. I will possibly read the next book when I get through my list.

A great start for a first time Author! I really did like this, part Paranormal/Thriller/Mystery. I do think it was rushed a little, but I still enjoyed it!
Annette Dahl "Old Vicarious Reader"
This was a classic wolf-shifter tale, just the kind that I love.

MaKenna, Was sassy, snarky, and pure alpha, yes that's what I said, Alpha. It's the first time I've read an alpha female shifter character, and I loved this heroine because of it.

Best line in a scene. . . Evo had issued his first command. “No, as in you will not be hunting down the murderous, women abducting, Rogue. You’re not going to put yourself in danger like that. I won’t allow it.” I patted his shoulder, “You poor thing.”. . .
Makenna is a P.I. who has special abilities to tell truth or lie among other things, and the F.B.I. asks for her help locating a serial killer. When she runs into Evo and he can't seem to leave her along stranger things start to happen to her.

And when she finds out about who she really is, and what Evo really is to her, things get a little complicated for Kenna. Now, she must find this killer, and figure out how to manage her life now.

This book was really interesting. I enjoyed the whole plot

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Poor Makenna, After being abandoned as an infant, she is passed from foster home to foster home, all because she seems to have a sixth sense. She can tell when someone is lying. She also seems to have a second personality. One that is consistently diagnosed because of near-constant anxiety attacks. Because of this, she has closed herself off from the world, working as

I only in the last few years started reading paranormal books in general, but have always been a big fan of romance. The pairing of these two things in this story have a wonderful feel. Makenna is an independent feisty human that uses this shell to hide the somewhat broken young woman inside. She is also a P.I. Then along comes Evo, a strong willed FBI agent that

A Gifted Curse is the first book in The Cloven Pack series and I so totally enjoyed this book. I was hard pressed to put it down once I starting reading it. I mean it, I read it all in one sitting - except getting up for more coffee of course but still. There a few books that keep my attention so well and this was one of them.

I felt like this novel had a good story line and characters that were likable. I liked Makenna as a character. She is strong and her gift is really cool. Evo is really sexy and I enjoyed his initial playful ness. I usually enjoy shifter romance quite a bit however, I struggled some with the writing and the dialogue. I felt like the scenes/thoughts of characters were either under described and lacking in vision OR completely overkilled and redundant. This novel is missing the style of writing tha ...more

What is the difference between a gift and a curse? Do you know who you are? Sometimes life throws you a curveball. MaKenna has a gift or a curse depending on how you look at it. She can tell if your not telling the truth and how you feel, similar to an empath. The other thing is she thinks she's crazy, she grew up in foster care and feels like there's someone else living inside her. Turns out there is! When she meets Evo when working she feels a crazy attraction to him right away. Want to find o ...more

I found this book to be fun, light reading, if you enjoy Shifter romances. The lead female character, "Kenna", is a strong, independent P.I. with an empathic gift and a divisive internal struggle. She meets Evo, an ex-FBI agent-turned-consultant who also happens to be the Alpha of the local Wolf Shifters pack. Unsurprisingly, they both discover there's more to Kenna than meets the eye.

The story is solid and the characters are likable, but there was no real tension, even when the leads were tryin

Makenna Goldwin is hired by the FBI because she is able to determine when someone is being truthful or not. This one simple task, however, ultimately turns her world inside out.

The characters are witty, sassy, confident, and incredibly sexy. As Makenna is introduced to the world of Wolf-Shifters, she not only learns that the world around her is different than she knew, but that even she is different than she knew. Her past still haunts her through intense migraines, anxiety attacks, and an alter

What an intensely intriguing book, by D. Fischer.

Kenna is working on a case for the FBI, on the hunt for a murder who is kidnaping women. Evo is a former FBI agent, now working as a consultant. When fate brings them together, sparks will fly. Will they run from the flames, or will they let it consume them?

I was utterly astonished by the realness and depth of these characters. Kenna is feisty, strong, stubborn, and independent. Making her seem as if she has no weaknesses. As we start to peal ba

A Gifted Curse is fast-paced and engaging read. The flow and plot are good, if a bit predictable, and the story does hold a reader's interest. Makenna and Evo are equally matched in the strong personality department, making for some amusing interactions and verbal sparring, as well as some scorching hot sexy fun. In addition to the blooming romance, we also get the added suspense of a rogue shifter that is linked to missing girls and now has his eye on Makenna. I particularly liked the interacti ...more

I was given this book to review

I enjoyed it. Makenna is a PI but she is also an empath. She grew up in foster care and never really fit in. She sometimes feels like she has multiple personalities. "I've never thought that feeling others' emotions was a gift. As a child, I felt it was a curse." Evo is the pack leader and gets involved with Makenna when they are both working on the same case. Some women have gone missing and they think they know who did it but they do not have the evidence. As the

This was a nice light read. The main characters were well written, and the way they were drawn to each other was very well done. Kenna was quite a feisty woman, drawn to the strong dominant Alpha Evo. The two played off of one another well. Couldn't ask for a better pair.

The storyline was a little too fast paced sometimes, which made it hard to relate to characters/situations at times. The plot was wonderful, but I feel like there could have been a little more added to it overall. An enjoyable s

Adventure and Mystery

This book is filled with action, adventure, mystery and suspense. I loved every minute while reading!

Eco is strong, resilient and can take on anything. Makenna is like me, independent and strong willed. She doesn’t give up on anything she puts her mind too.

Throw in some wolf packs and you get a lot more adventure. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for adventure, mystery and suspense. You will love it.
