I have illustrated over 50 children's books so far and also create art for magazines, advertising, book covers, and kids' products. My work is created digitally but I use traditional media like acrylic paint as well and bring it all together on my computer. Projects that I particularly enjoy working on share an inclusive, mindful and environmentally conscious view of the world. I like my illustrations to look playful and free-spirited, and hope that kids of all ages will enjoy them!
I grew up in Germany, and now live by the sea in Kent, England.

Neprávem opomíjená publikace, která sugestivní formou představí profesi astronauta nejmenším dětem.

Astronauts (First Explorers) is an interactive board book. Each page, including the cover, provides opportunities for little hands to make the images move either by pushing, pulling or sliding inserts which make the images appear to be moving or change the picture in some way. Children can make a rocket blast off and change whether the sun or the moon are rising while book characters watch from the space station window. Each scene includes a “Can you see?” area with three items to find in the pictures. There are also questions and facts peppered throughout the book that will help to engage any reader. The images are bright and colorful, and people of both genders and many different races are represented in the illustrations. A little boy and a little girl are along for the journey to the International Space Station and can be found participating in all sorts of astronaut activities, at one point even being strapped into their sleeping bags and video chatting with friends on earth.

I would recommend this book for older toddlers who have expressed an interest in rocket ships or astronauts especially. There are just enough facts to be informative without being overwhelming and the pictures include enough detail to provide lots of opportunities to expand upon the reading.

This book has some of the best interactive features I've seen in a board book. I loved being able to make the rocket launch and to cause the astronauts to float around in space. A short read, but plenty to look at, do, and learn. I found out that astronauts on a space station get to watch the sun rise and set 16 times a day--so cool!

Oliver LOVES his astronaut book. He actually destroyed the checked out library book so we had to buy it and now it is his! It's all taped back together and he enjoys making the rocket take off.

My son and I can spend a long time with me making rumbling sounds while he makes the rocket take off. A long time.
