The weatherman predicts a beautiful, sunny day in LEGO® City, so everyone heads to the beach. The weather is perfect for surfing or scuba diving--even the coast guard crew is enjoying some fun in the sun. But when dark storm clouds roll in over the ocean, it's up to the coast guard to spring into action and save the day!
This storybook includes a LEGO® City coast guard poster!
I waffle on this one - on the one hand, I spent a summer working for the Coast Guard in Washington, D.C., so I've got a big soft spot for them. So YAY, Coast Guard book! (But booooo showing them suntanning and goofing off just 'coz the weather's nice.) Also, yay for some puns (but booo because they weren't very good/bad puns. Just average). And yayyyy for a hero shark, not an eating-people shark.
And a serious BOOOOO to making a joke out of "ha ha I purposely didn't say anything about this storm that put lives at risk, lucky it all worked out, amirite?"
Bought this at a garage sale for 50 cents, or maybe they just gave it to us for free. The people were super nice and just wanted to get rid of stuff.
This is a good story of a too-relaxed coast guard swinging into action when the sunny weather takes a turn. We practice our reading and got a good laugh making up additional dialogue and even ringette cheers when the guards throw a life line to a couple of swimmers. "You don't have time to cheer, you're drowning!".
